The instructors are wonderful, but the ownership/management experience was very disappointing…read more I spent approximately 10-12 sessions at SafeSplash, so I feel like I had enough experience with the program to form a pretty good opinion. I want to start by saying that our instructor was wonderful. My concerns are primarily with the way the business is managed. Unfortunately, I often felt like the business side of SafeSplash prioritized money over compassion and customer experience. The billing practices were especially frustrating. Charges were processed around the 25th of the month, rather than at the end of the month as I expected, and I don't feel there was adequate warning about when the charge would actually occur. On top of that, canceling was much more difficult than it should have been and became an unnecessarily stressful and emotionally taxing process. I also noticed a previous review discussing the experience of BIPOC students/families and a lack of empathy or feeling welcomed. I can't speak for someone else's experience, but some of my own interactions with management did make me understand why another parent might walk away feeling that way. Ultimately, I decided to switch to Goldfish, based on recommendations from other parents who had experienced similar frustrations. The difference has been significant. Goldfish has been much more responsive and accommodating when we've been late or stuck in traffic, and they actually answer their phones and work with parents when circumstances come up. For us, Goldfish has been the superior option by far. The instructors at SafeSplash deserve credit because ours was genuinely great, but a good instructor can only go so far when the overall customer-service and business experience leaves you frustrated. If you're choosing between the two, I'd strongly recommend looking at Goldfish before committing to SafeSplash.

Ms. Helen has about 40 horses on 30+ acres of pasture and woods. Her horses are absolutely beautiful, and can accommodate from the most experienced rider to a first timer. This was my first time riding a horse. Ms. Helen and her guide were very patient and showed me everything I needed in order to trail ride safely. Our Groupon was for a one hour trail ride for two. We headed out of the barn and worked our way up the mountain to a really beautiful overlook. Once we were headed back, our guide helped me work up to a trot. It was so fun! Overall, a really great experience. We were even invited back to volunteer! I would definitely recommend this experience!

So fortunate to participate in a 'shamble' scramble here yesterday. The weather was absolutely dialed in, and everything was seamless from registration (great swag thanks to Blue Creek) to the post scramble meal, to the pro shop where you redeem your prizes (yeah, I um, scored the "ladies longest drive" prize - shameless plug). Turns out the pro shop has everything you'd want clothing wise, from onesies for babies to children's golf clothes to cigars and a good array of selections for men, but, nothing cute and frilly for me. As I was feeling deflated, the pro offered up a catalog to me, and I scored two adorable pink golf shirts that he will have custom embroidered with their logo for me! Nice touch! I had never played golf using carts that stop automatically, meaning you do not have to squash in the brake to lock the cart in place, until yesterday at the Ledges. This is an excellent feature for this course because it is literally like a roller coaster in twists and turns! At any angle, when you put your foot on the brake, the cart stops and stays put. Each hole is named (e.g., Old Stoney, The Pedestal, False Hope (featuring an unseen water hazard), Hawks Haven (yes, there are hawks up there!), Temptation). The greens are crazy fun because you get so many crazy "toilet bowl" rolls, and some putts actually appear to roll uphill! Only regret was not enjoying the driving range prior to the scramble. They take a supersized golf cart way down in the valley to an absolutely lovely driving range. Our group was too happy socializing to take advantage of a proper warm up in the awesome driving range Had we done this, maybe my twosome would have scored better than next to last, ha ha! While waiting on the birthday girl I went in the store to look around. No other customers were there, and when asked if I needed help I mentioned I was meeting my grandaughter to build a bear in a bit. This was at 5:40pm. No one mentioned that they close at 7 and stop making bears at 6:45. We ate at the food court. While eating, the birthday girls daddy walked over to the store and noticed it closes at 7pm. We all rushed over and arrived at 6:46. They told us that we were too late to make a bear. They stop taking orders at 6:45. We were 1 minute late! We were told they would not make an exception because if they made an exception for 1 person they would have to do it for everyone. I looked up and I saw tears rolling down my daughters eyes it broke my heart! So 5 year old birthday girl and her mom were both crying. We left so sad and disappointed What was supposed to be a fun celebration turned into a very sad evening. Creating a birthday bear was a huge thing to my grandaughter. She was so excited! These 2 employees made no effort to help us out and exhibited no empathy whatsoever. We were 1 minute late! That rule was not posted anywhere! It's always fun to get a drink and watch the Indoor players from the glass walled indoor restaurant upstairs that overlooks all the indoor courts from the second floor! One of the USTA pros who works here, Chris Shearburn and I played on the same tennis team at UAH. Go see Chris, he is good people and a talented athlete! The dressing rooms are nice. I can't speak to the gym because I never used it and although they have 6 indoor tennis courts (they are hard courts), 15 outdoor clay and hard tennis courts (all of which are lighted), 6 racquetball courts and 1 squash court, they have over 42,000 square feet of indoor space dedicated to racquet sports, I can't say with certainty I played on the outdoor clay (really Rubico) courts. They have a dedicated staff who really makes this club shine! I played here solely as a guest so I can't speak to the membership costs or benefits. I'm really proud of the revamp of this center in 2010! Well done good people! It's also an event center (think private parties of all sizes or a rehearsal dinner) and hosts fun events including pickleball. Thanks for promoting the sport of a lifetime in Huntsville!

I joined the Huntsville Athletic Club of Alabama after relocating for work, attracted by its…read moreimpressive facilities and tennis clinics. To participate, I was required to sign a membership contract. Over time, I spent nearly $500 on clinics, around $1,000 in membership fees, and more on food and other services. Six months later, I had to relocate to Georgia for a new job. When I asked to cancel my membership, they insisted on a $250 cancellation fee. Considering my circumstances and how much I'd already invested, I expected a more understanding response. After looking into Alabama law, I discovered that under Ala. Code § 8-23-4(6), health studios are legally required to allow contract cancellation without penalty if a member relocates and there's no affiliated facility within 15 miles of the new address. I brought this to their attention, but they ignored it and even denied being a registered health studio--despite being listed on the Alabama Attorney General's Health Studio Registration. Not only is their behavior unethical, but the contract they make you sign is voidable under state law. They try to sneak in additional fees or clauses to make it seem enforceable, but legally, it's not. They rely on customers not knowing their rights. I disputed the charge with my credit card company, but the club's filing department denied it. Don't be fooled by the friendly faces or flashy courts. When it matters most, this club will put profits ahead of people. I recommend considering other tennis facilities in Huntsville such as: * Huntsville Tennis Center - A public facility with 36 courts, lessons for all ages, leagues, and tournaments. * PlayYourCourt Huntsville - A flexible option for lessons and community play with certified instructors. Choose a facility that respects its members and the law.
