I went there to get a specific product, I could not find it so I waited 20 minutes at the gun counter before someone walked over and asked me if I needed help. I told him that I am looking for this certain product. He said "oh you have a question, before I can answer your question you need to go over to the kiosk and register a place in the system" Now him and I were the only ones there so I just asked him where the product was. He said he cant answer a my question until I register in the system. So I gave them my name and #. They will get ahold of me by text when someone is available the screen read. I am a grown man and capable of walking in and out of a store without a cell phone glued to me, I had left mine in the truck because I did not need it. Now they cant get ahold of me to text me and let me know that the same man that would not answer my question would now answer it. We stopped by to look at coolers. Both of us are interested in seeing what size cooler would fit in the trunk. We looked at and demo'd a Yeti Tundra 65 cooler. The nice employee was helpful bringing the cooler outside so we could do a fit check. Cabela's has a large selection of Yeti products. Their prices are competitive too. Cabela's is pretty similar to Bass Pro Shops. I came here last week to browse when I was in Huntsville. I love the decor. It is a little smaller than the Bass Pro Shops in Birmingham as it is only one floor, but you will find mostly similar items here. read more

Staying close by at the Hampton Inn, it was fairly obvious there must be a Cabela's close by since my hotel was on Cabela Drive. Had a little time to kill so I figured I would come in here and check it out. Very similar to other locations. If you aren't familiar think Bass Pro. If you still aren't familiar, if you want to do something outdoors, this store probably has what you are looking for. Camping gear, hunting gear, fishing gear, guns, ammo, clothing, cookware, ice chests (high end too). They really have a huge selection and fill the large space they occupy really well. Prices, from what I have experienced, seem to be right on par with other sporting good stores with similar items. But, just like any of these places they can be a little on the high side sometimes. Just like the other sporting good stores and department stores watch for the Sunday adds to get some good deals. read more

Absolutely one of the best customer service experiences I've ever had! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by an employee who asked if we were looking for anything specific. When I said boots and archery, he escorted us all the way back to the shoe department and introduced us to one of the specialists back there. Once we finished, we headed over to the archery section. Hunter L helped us immediately. We explained that my boyfriend wanted to buy me a bow and that we were looking for something with a wide range of adjustment. He recommended a bow, and then took my measurements to ensure the fit was right. We picked out the bow and he passed us off to Matthews (I think it's his last name, but that's what was on his name tag). He set up the bow for me and made sure everything was tuned in to my measurements and needs. I then got to go to the range and try out shooting a compound bow for the first time ever. Matthews was very helpful with tips and tricks, and kept adjusting the bow to the poundage which worked best for me. He also made sure it was sighted in properly and made adjustments for my groupings. After finishing the bow adjustments, Matthews helped me pick out all the accessories I would need for my hunt. This included arrows, broad heads, and a new whisker biscuit. He swapped out the whisker biscuit for the one I wanted and made sure the bow was sighted in properly again. He cut down my arrows so they were the proper size for me. He also checked out the case I wanted to make sure the bow fit inside properly. My boyfriend also brought in his bow, and Matthews helped him make adjustments after firing a few arrows down the range. I've never been bow hunting, or even shot a compound bow before. The Cabela's staff, especially Matthews, were knowledgeable and patient with my beginner skills. It was an absolute pleasure to shop here. I would definitely recommend them in the future!! read more

Meanwhile 2 employees were attempting to handle all the sales and 1 excessively high maintenance customer that didn't even buy anything. I'm convinced I could have stood there for an hour. First time here today and it was disappointing, mainly because it was eerily silent in the store (very few customers and no music or background noise). It really felt odd. I walked past several employees and smiled and said good morning to them, and they all ignored me. For that reason alone, I won't plan to go back unless I for some reason need something that I can only get there. Paige, the cashier, was friendly, so at least there was one.... The one checkout line that was open was 7-customers deep (which was about everyone in the entire store), so another cashier came out and called out, "I can help someone over here" and all the fellas behind me plowed over her way. A minor thing, but it's always nice for them to offer to help the NEXT customer in line (who has been waiting the longest). Also at checkout, the cashier asked each customer if they want to round up to the next dollar to help support wildlife. This struck me as odd, too, because all around the store are ladders and platforms for hunting and killing animals. So to collect the money is for what exactly... to let the critters live in peace or to multiple them so there are more to shoot, or what? I saved my cents and will donate to an animal rescue organization instead. Lastly, also at checkout, the cashier told me to look at the back of my receipt to take the survey and I will get a $20 off coupon. Seeing as though I just spent $100 in the store (hiking boots), that made sense that they'd entice me to come back. I excitedly got ready to take the survey to get my coupon and see that it's only good for a purchase of $200 or more. Gah. A 2.5 rating rounded up to 3. At least it was clean. Oh, and the large fish tank only seemed to have 1 fish in it. Boring. read more

Went here 2 or 3 weeks after their grand open. The place was clean and tidy, lots and lots of people both customers and workers. It seemed like all that was just a show because I couldn't even get what I was looking for! The worker was nice. He tried to help but he didn't know 1) where the hell they put their stuff, 2) how operate their ordering system on the computer and 3) how else to help me. I was looking for a knife. They had on the display case. He called to the back to bring out a new one. After 15 minutes, he went back to check with them after no response. Another 10 minutes, he came back and said the knives are actually on the floor. We walked up and down a couple aisles, finally found the rack. Lord be hold, the knives weren't on the rack. The pricetag was there but no knives. He kept saying the computer said they have 5 in stock. Nope, they were apparantly invisible knives... He suggested to order via their computer. First, that damn thing was place like 50 feet into the air for girraffe neck. He and I had to tilt our head all the way back to just look at it lol. He fumbled through the touch screen after another 10-15 minutes. At first he said they can deliver ot the store so I don't need to pay shipping. But nope, he found out that they can't ship to the store; IDK if he did it right or not. So what was the point of me shopping and ordering the store if I end up paying shipping anyways. Then he suggested to sell me the display one. I asked for a discount since it had no box and had a sticky sticker residue. He went off for at least 5 minutes to talk to the manager and came back with 5% off. I was like, shiiiit, nevermind, good bye. After almost an hour, I left empty handed, with a freaking headache, and racking my brain for a new gift idea. Thanks for nothing Cabela's. We have visited this location a few times since they opened..and every time we enjoy our shopping experience. Even on the busiest of days, like today, when they allowed trick-or-treating for children, the staff was nothing short of fabulous. They are attentive, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable of their merchandise. They were just as happy to see us as we were happy to be there! What a terrible return policy. Be careful and hold your receipts for 90 days or else you will only get a fraction of your purchase price if you need to take something back, even if what they sold you is falling apart. I bought a product for $70 and wanted to return it because I was not satisfied, they offered me $12 since I did have the receipt. Most modern stores such as Walmart, Dicks, Best Buy, Home Depot, etc.. have a much better return policy. These stores will email your receipt to you on the front end and even look up your purchases on the credit card you bought the item on so that you get a full refund. This does not happen at Cabela. They will only refund a fraction of the price unless you have your receipt. I probably spent several thousand dollars at this store on hunting, boating and fishing supplies since they opended but never had to take anything back before. Their products are no better than their competitors so I will shopping elsewhere from now on. read more

As I, a 44 year old woman, was looking at the guns in the cases, I was passed by three separate employees, all men, behind the cases. They immediately asked each and every man who barely approached a case if they needed help. One person, a man, had just passed behind me, and was asked if he could be helped. My husband finally joined me at the cases and was helped immediately when assistance was needed. I would have liked to view a gun since I had planned to purchase one. Went in this past saturday and was looking for a advertised Tackle Bag that was priced 39.99 Apparently they had run out and were no longer available. I did however see a different Tackle bag for that same price. I was quite surprised since it was bigger than the one advertised. When I went to pay it rung up as 99.99, the cashier had them check and the manager had marked them down to 39.99 since they ran out of the previous bags. WHAT!!! I got a better bag than I had originally intended on getting for the same price. I had her ring me up for another just could not pass that deal up. They are stocked up on so many items that I did not have enough time to look at everything, I will go earlier next time. I also got some nice Cabela's t-shirts while I was there. i was looking for a kimber 1911 chambered in 10mm. i called everywhere in huntsville for weeks and finally called Cabela's, they said they had one and it was $799. i didn't want to go out and look at a bunch of different stores for one because of the pandemic going on and i just had a brand new baby. i went up to the store and they had a kimber camp guard 10mm but it was $1250. i asked where the kimber 10mm was that was $799 and they said they didn't have on and haven't had one, then they would not honor their price they gave me over the phone as i didn't want to spend a bunch on a pistol i was going to customize myself. i wouldn't trust anything they say up there, just go to larrys pistol and pawn or last resort guns for anything you need. read more

Never leave your boat with these people in the Huntsville/Madison location. You will go over it and when you return to pick it up it will be nothing like what you discussed. They even wrote it down and got it wrong! After complete dissatisfaction, I wrote them a letter and requested everything just be returned to me. I had to go up there 4 times!!! Not to mention it is a 2 hr round trip each time. Complete horrible experience. Then they had the nerve to tell me they wouldn't work on my boat again as if they thought I ever freaking would let them!!!! I'm attaching my letter that I had to write them. Kizer, an employee that actually does some of the work, was really good, however, the people calling the shots and their so called customer service specialists need to be selling clothes instead of working on boats. Will Manning(doesn't know crap and always has to ask someone else) and Jason(doesn't run things well & has people working on different things at the same time causing confusion). Below is my letter of all the things wrong when I took 2 boats to them to have some things swapped on them. Bad experience at Cabela's Boating Center Panfish stick steer: 1. When associates removed dual bank battery charger they left one of four screws in boat and metal shavings were not vacuumed up 2. Did not seal hole where old transducer wire went up back of boat 3. Trolling motor that was put on needed a longer wire but didn't inform me until I went to pick up Pro Crappie 175: 1. Battery was installed so close to battery charger that I can't see charging light indicators and battery charge was loose and sliding around! Only has 2 screws instead of 4. 2. Remote control trolling motor had wire hanging out where as it didn't when installed on my other boat. Had to express dissatisfaction and request trolling motor be hard wired like I discussed initially. 3. Transducer was mounted under the boat on the opposite side we discussed mounting it on. We discussed mounting on opposite side to prevent a big fish tail while traveling. Since mounted opposite side we discussed, I now have a huge spray while traveling down river which we wanted to avoid. 4.Helix 10 Mega was not mounted in the location we discussed. 5. Helix 10 Mega was not installed on new different ram mount like we discussed 6. Helix 10 Mega was said to be functioning properly and later determined not to be working properly. Thus having to come back a second time for adjusting. While at Cabela's for 2nd time, it was determined a manufacturers defect and that I would have to come back a third time while issue was brought to Hummingbirds attention. It is a 2 hr round trip drive each trip. I am up to 6 hours drive time! I would like Helix 10, ram mount, and transducer removed, all holes in aluminum riveted and sealed properly, and payments refunded. I have all boxes and receipts and would like to be refunded the following items: A. Helix 10 unit B. Helix 10 install labor C. Ram mount D. Trolling motor plug The most disturbing thing to me as a previous Cabela's enthusiast was when service specialist Will Manning told me it's not on them its hummingbirds fault. I am not dealing with hummingbird nor am I paying hummingbird to work on my boat! I am very disturbed by this lack of integrity and disappointed. I thought Cabela's was a reputable company and stood by their work. As a paying customer, I expect my boat to be good to go when I pay my hard earned money to you and pick up my boat that you serviced or modified and you say it is good to go, Jeremy. I don't appreciate having to come back this 3rd time and quite possibly a fourth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I ended up having to come back a fourth time.
