They offer burgers, mac & cheese, sausages, nachos, sandwiches, and of course some exotic hot dog. This is one of the most colorful trucks and you cannot miss it. Even though my interaction with them was very limited, the staff was nice enough. I ordered a jumbo Carolina Slaw Dog with a side of BBQ baked beans. The sides are already prepared and pre-packed, so my wait was not long. It took them less than 5 minutes to have my food ready. The beans were cold, but they did offer to heat them for me. I was heading straight home so I opted to just heat them up when I got there. My dog's bread was soggy, as expected. I am just throwing that out there for those people that soggy bread matters to. It was a delicious dog though and I really liked it. The beans were also pretty good and I enjoyed them as well. I highly recommend fining out where this truck is going to be and checking them out. They have a wide range of delicious food and some really unique dogs.

The moment you walk in,…read moreyou're surrounded by a mix of vintage Chicago-style décor, historic photos, and unique displays that make the space feel lively and different from your typical fast-casual spot. The food is solid and consistent. The fries came out hot and crispy, and the sandwich was fresh with a good balance of flavors. Everything tasted like it was made with care, not rushed. Portion sizes are satisfying, and there are plenty of options depending on what you're in the mood for. Service was efficient, and the flow of the restaurant makes it easy to order and pick up your food without confusion. Even when it's busy, things seem to move smoothly. If you're looking for a casual spot with good comfort food and a fun atmosphere, Portillo's is definitely worth checking out. It's the kind of place you can come back to and know exactly what you're going to get every time.

The cheese burger is delicious, plenty of topping and condiments, you're going to need more napkins than you think. Chicago dog is fabulous. We tried some of the new sauces; ranch, comeback, and bbq this time, and we like all three. These package of sauces are very generous. The chocolate cake shake is AMAZINGLY good! Employees were friendly, order was ready in a timely manner and correct. I lived in Springfield, OH for many years this Portillo's had Woebler's mustard packs, which are made in Springfield, yummy mustard my favorite is the sweet and spicy.

Depending on if you are ordering to stay and eat or to go, you can either eat in your vehicle or they do have a couple of picnic tables you can set at. Most recently, maybe a year or two ago, they added a little playground area for kiddos to play while waiting for their meal to be delivered. Most of the time, the car hops gals will bring your food out to your vehicle, on a tray that hooks on to your driver or passenger side window. The service is always excellent. The food is always amazing and the car hops whom take your order start their first job working here while they are in high schooler or on summer break. I highly recommend you try out B&K - South, once in your life, in Peru, Indiana. They're so kind, caring and deliver your order in a very timely manner. I also recommend their gallons of Root Beer. They have the absolute BEST Root Beer in town. You can buy it by the pint or gallon to take home. Its a MUST! The one and only complaint I have seen/heard from people is the parking when B&K first opens. (They are only open from Spring to the beginning of Fall.). They do get super busy when reopening for the season, but it is really not too bad to where the wait is way too long. (Also would depend on how long your lunch break is.) I would play it smart and call in to order ahead of time and pick your order up if you don't have a lot of time to wait. Once the excitement of reopening dies down, the parking gets a LOT better and service speeds up as well. I always have given B&K - Southside a 10/10. They have never disappointed!

B&K offers a rare, classic, laid-back experience that for me (and many others) is a cherished summer ritual. If I had the time to stay a bit longer, I would have gotten the Vanilla Root Beer served in the iconic frosted mug - highly recommend!! Our service was very friendly and super quick for pre dinner hours mid-week. They used to be cash only - but cards accepted and even Apple Pay!
