This place was actually pretty good. The custard was creamy and soft. Very good. I liked their strawberry toppings a lot. Their portion sizes are also very good. The strawberry cheesecake cake flurry was also great. They have the pup cup and it's worth it! Prices are reasonable as well. Service was nice. Not well ran. One person working online is extremely long. She first takes the line for orders and then starts to make them. Therefore, you have to stand in 2 lines and it's extremely long wait. The taste was OK. It's not outstanding but it's not horrible either. read more

Custard Corner is across the street from Mott High School, where I go to swim. At least once a year, I treat myself to Custard Corner after swimming as a reward. I swam yesterday, so I went today. That counts, right? I love that Custard Corner is independently owned. That in itself goes a long way in my book. When I was very little, my dad showed us the difference between custard -- which is made from real ingredients like milk and sugar -- and soft serve, which is....not. When custard melts, it looks like milk. When soft serve melts, it separates and looks unnatural. Therefore, I avoid soft serve. Ok, enough history. I try to branch out when I get iced desserts, but when I see apple and apple caramel on the menu, it's just too hard. So, my branching out this time was that I got a flurry instead of my usual sundae. I ordered a medium. It was HUGE! I think it came in a 16 ounce cup! And, it was topped with whipped cream, to make it extra yummy. I held off on eating it until I got home, at which time, it was starting to melt a bit. No matter, I have napkins. I started eating it, and it was delicious. Smooth, and creamy, and no fake or "off" flavors. Unlike soft serve, it is very rich. I found that I could only eat maybe 1/8 of it! So, I put it in a plastic container to eat at another time. I don't go to ice cream stands all that often, so I don't know how their prices compare, but the medium flurry was $5.25, tax included. That seems a little high to me, but my head is stuck in the prices of years gone by, so I could be wrong. In any case, this little custard stand is definitely worth a stop. Treat yourself! Custard Corner is just that, a tiny shack of goodness on a busy corner in Waterford. I have never seen a larger list of available versions of flurries, so if that is your thing, you are in luck! Custard Corner offers just about any type of treat with soft serve. I tried the Strawberry shake, which was thick and refreshing. My little one had a sugar cone with sprinkles and a cherry on top. My husband had a delicious Tin Roof Sundae. I did notice that on a relatively slow night, the Banana Split seemed rather popular. DQ is Soft serve Ice Cream....Custard Corner is Soft serve Custard. What is the difference? Frozen custard is richer, eggier, creamier, smoother, and is what all soft serve should aspire to be. There's like a gazillion different add ins that can be made into flurries, sundaes, and shakes. CC offers at least 50, and there is something for everyone. I personally like the vanilla custard with black forrest cake add in. In addition to flurries, sundaes, and shakes, they offer traditional cones which can be dipped into shell toppings, nuts, or sprinkles. They have a low carb variety of custard as well. Custard Corner is old school and has been around since I was a kid. They take cash only, and you order through a sliding window, the cashier writes your order on a spiral bound notepad, and hands you your stuff through the same window after she makes it. Rubber gloves are used for sanitary purposes. There are no indoor places to sit down and enjoy, but several outdoor tables with umbrellas do the trick, though sometimes they are sticky from dripping custard. Depending on the time of day, you may have to wait in a line, but it goes by quick. They are also closed in the winter. That's it!!! CC is a tradition for me every time I visit back home. I used to live down the street from this place, and it was the only thing enjoyable about the time spent there. Frozen custard is like soft serve ice cream, it's just a little thicker, and better. The Corner has a lot of items on the menu, and it's always jumping - expect to wait in a line for the food. My personal favorite is the Cream Puff sundae - a big pastry filled with custard and topped with hot fudge and nuts. Mmmmm. My wife gets the Hawaiian sundae - it comes with fancy decorations. aaaahhhh good 'ol custard corner. another waterford classic. i used to walk home from school, which was right across the street, with my friends and we would stop here and get 'mistakes' for 50 cents. now that i am adult i can afford a full priced menu item. i usually go for a flurry with some sort of crushed cookies or candy. mmmmm so good! and my husband usually gets a hot fudge sunday, also very good. the employees are always very quick and friendly. we don't eat custard quite as often as i did when i was a kid, but when we do we get it from custard corner and it's a real treat! read more

I was underwhelmed by Custard Corner, primarily due to their confusing signage and product offerings. There are two windows from which employees take orders, but they are on adjacent sides of the building rather than side-by-side. Instead of having menus posted by each window, half is on one side of the building and half on the other. So you either have to pace back and forth and dodge customers to see their full menu, or you only get to see half of their products and flavors. My other complaint is that the flavors aren't standard between products. There were only two flavors available in a cone: chocolate/vanilla and lemon/vanilla. There were easily 20+ flavors available for sundaes and flurries. So if there's strawberry custard (or heck, just plain chocolate) available for a sundae, why can't I have that in a cone? Surely they could have accommodated that, but no. Not an option. The custard itself (lemon/vanilla twist in a sugar cone) was decent. Also: cash only. In this day and age, there's no excuse to not accept credit cards. Conclusion: A mom-and-pop store that's likely tried to grow too quickly and offer too many choices. They should stick with the basics, re-do their menu, and start accepting cards. read more

Owner was upset I didn't "throw out" the order the young gal inside the counter screwed up. Was simply waiting for my 'correct' order then as I would have passed the trash can I probably would have. My family has been going to custard corner for as long as i can remember. I love everything they sell here. the soft serve custard is the best. i usually get the chocolate marshmallow malt (sounds strange but is wicked good) and the little doggie ice cream for my dog. they are so friendly and their prices are reasonable. best ice cream place ever. read more

Been there a few times and I can say that I've had better and quicker service at Walmart. The first time went with my husband and 2 year old daughter and waited for nearly a half and hour for 2 shakes and a junior cone. We had a total of 4 people in front of us. Mr. C's at Elizabeth Lake and Williams lake has less people working there and I've waited half the time at Mr. C's than I did at Custard Corner. The last time I was there waited another 30 minutes for 2 medium shakes and a junior sundae. Then got the shakes and realized they were made wrong. Waited another 20 minutes in line to get them made correctly. Not only that but if you need more napkins or another spoon or straw you have to go and ask for it when most businesses have napkin dispensers and things of that sort made readily available so that customers aren't inconvenienced by having to cut in front of someone so that they can get another spoon or straw or more napkins. I might give this place another shot because it was good but it's going to take me a little bit to forget about this experience and I'll definitely do it when I have plenty of time and don't mind waiting exceptionally long for a strawberry shake, a strawberry sundae and a chocolate peanut butter shake. read more
