They are a small gym with 24 hour access. Matt was very easy to work with to gain access to the gym even though I arrived to Birmingham late on a weekend. They have expanded their equipment inventory since my last visit and remain well equipped for aerobic training (treadmills, stair climbers, bikes, Ergs, Ski-erg, etc.) as well as functional training balls, bands, sleds, etc.) while maintaining the character of a weightlifting gym with an ample supply of machines and free weights, benches and racks, as well as some slightly more esoteric offerings (Kabuki bar, ladder bar, belt squat machine). I have nothing negative to say about the gym at all. My personal preference is to have no music in a gym during off hours so that I can more easily hear what I want through headphones, but I suspect I am in the minority on that point.

We couldn't have asked for a smoother system. I think the thing that struck me most about this gym is that there was no "dude" energy or bad gym bro attitude where people tell you how to do things or stare or do any uncomfortable things to make you feel unwelcome. This is a beautiful thing and often absent in gym environments. As someone who's worked out with free weights for over 3 decades, I appreciate being left alone and not feeling uncomfortable. I imagine it would also be refreshing for the younger ladies as I remember getting hassled in my youth by guys like that. More gyms need to foster this environment and understand that girls lift also. Who knows, they may be working on something different or have information that you don't have. I've received phone calls and text messages from the GM and personal trainer to sign up for their "personalized trainers" that cost well above $200+ a month. They also failed to explained the contract terms upon signing up and only had me "sign a few boxes." | attempted to resolve the issue face to face with the general manager but he became defensive. If you sign up with this gym be prepared to be haggled and request to have the fine print printed out and explained to you! UPDATE: Orlando Perez III, regional manager, reached out to me and was very pleasant, caring, and helpful. He actively listened and didn't just listen to respond. I have never seen such a concentration of high caliber staff in any gym (or just about any other kind of business). It really is amazing. The staff is always on the floor. They engage with the members every day. If you are there working out, you WILL have a positive interaction with the staff. Everything from a passing fist-bump to words of encouragement, or a meaningful conversation. 24e is not just a place you go to work out. It is difficult to find the right word to describe the environment thee staff have created.

Chuck the owner kicked me out of his gym over the phone, notified me that if I step one foot on shape'n up property that I will be locked for trespassing and he also stole my money that I payed him up front for my membership. I have only had my membership for about three or four months. I payed him over $300.00 cash for the whole year. I did not violate his contract. I did not disrespect anybody. I committed no crime. I posted a video on my personal Instagram page of me making fun of meatheads that I have had encounters with in this very gym. Everybody thought it was funny accept for chuck and a couple so called Christian people at shape'n up Fitness. You cannot be free or have fun at this gym. Chuck has kicked numerous people out for petty reasons with no legit explanation. He marches to the beat of his own drum and I refer everybody in Oneonta, AL to The Gym across the street from Oneonta City School.
