Staff- 12/10 Leslie and her team were so accommodating and awesome Experience 10/10 What an absolute awesome hidden gem!!! My buddies and I booked cabin 10 for a guys weekend, and took off from KC on a Friday. We spent the afternoon playing a round of golf over at Rolling Meadows (highly recommend a nice little country golf course). Then popped back over to the resort for a dinner down at the restaurant. We lucked out, as they had a live band playing that were surprisingly amazing, and accompanied our dinner perfectly. The gang was split across burgers, chicken sandwiches and whatnot. Nobody complained and I don't recall any left overs remaining! Friday night saw us sitting by a big fire outside the cabin, and watching some of the planes flying around from Fort Riley for the evening. Saturday was a bit of an early morning, as we went over to Acorn's Wild for an awesome pheasant hunt! We had four dogs, an amazing guide in Paul, and were off for hiking the fields for a half day. It was simply the best hunt any of us have ever gone on, and literally all of us have been talking about how fast we can get back out there again. They followed it up with a heck of a lunch spread (seriously, I gotta find those homemade cinnamon rolls), then we sadly packed it up and went back to KC for family obligations. Already day dreaming about our next escapee over. All of this and it's only 2.5 hours away from KC!

They then laughed and rode into the campground where they continued to throw probably 5 or 6 more explosives... yeah... not fireworks. I called the sheriff, he was cool, but what can be done. I called the owner, hes doing what he can I assume. But I have to spend July 5th keeping my kids inside because of this place. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, with policies that allow guests to enjoy recreational activities such as side-by-sides, electric scooters, and dirt bikes throughout the grounds. This flexibility really enhanced the overall experience and allowed everyone to fully enjoy their stay. We were assigned an RV site near the park's four-way stop. Unfortunately, there was frequent traffic that did not adhere to posted speed limits and often failed to stop at the intersection. While multiple law enforcement was present, we did not observe any enforcement of these violations. This created a sense of concern, particularly for families and individuals participating in recreational activities in the area. I will return again, but in a different location away from that road and 4 way stop.

We came here because of the vintage carousel that they still operate, and ended up exploring the whole building and outside structures which really made it worth the small entrance fee to see. Let's start with the main building. When you walk in, it's an old small town museum, and it feels like it. I do think this place could benefit from some TLC in terms of updating it and breathing in some new life, but I will also say from working in the museum industry, that funding can be hard, and I felt like they did a really great job of keeping it running, clean, and accessible with what I can imagine are some limited resources. Once you pay, you can meander through the galleries which cover the history of Dickinson County, and feature some really interesting artifacts. Our favorite part of the main exhibits was the section on the introduction of the telephone and how it evolved over the years. For our four year old this was especially cool because they have some switch boards that are interactive, and you can even place a call to another phone in the museum. For a kid that has never seen a rotary phone before it was pretty magical, and honestly even for us adults who remember those days, it was cool to see how it worked and we spent a good amount of time in that area. Once you've had your fill of the inside museum you can venture outdoors and experience the old school carousel, and some historical buildings. The carousel was really cool. First of all it's the oldest known carousel to still be operational in existence. I mean, this may be a fact hard to track down and verify, but that's pretty impressive. Being built in 1901, it's crazy to be able to ride something so old and get a full experience that someone else would have had over 100 years ago. The old buildings were also pretty neat to explore and we enjoyed walking around and seeing what each one had to offer. Overall, this is a pretty cool stop for anyone who enjoys history.

When I told management that was another reason for us leaving I was told there are smoking rooms on that floor, I had actually called days before and requested the first floor but was not given the first floor. I was granted a refund with no issues and appreciated that. I will never book a stay at the Motel 6 again.
