The same staff free at their Solihull branch of CURRYS to short change, overcharge and forget to mark advertised reductions on items then refuse refund. Running another insurance scam even halving the price to get you to commit but under warranty not needed. Though better for them insist on monthly payments without interest. Then let the payments continue till you paid more than the original price. Then charging you £75 to send you item to repair promising a diagnosis but refusing the results as they always replace. Though they say always replacing with new they repair the parts they steal for future repairs? They seem to claim parts from the manufacturer after a year whether you come back or not. Though made to break having to at some time. The staff are trained to steal they admitted it but short changing over charging seems to go into their pocket. I had a damaged VGA that comes with a new motherboard they charged me for yet was not as simply blocked. £230 and they did nothing but finding they repair what they take i asked for my motherboard back. The CURRYS policy is to be paid for repairs before returning them? I had them promise refund if not as stated with my motherboard. They returned my only PC and i phoned repair and was told another £75 to return it. I finally got forced to pick up both items or they would be auctioned. The PC was as said, the motherboard was stripped of any useful parts and the wrong model for my PC. They kept my receipts and when i complained refused further action without receipts. I did get another response on this page and liker before wasting my time then saying they had no power to do anything. AS PROOF OF MY BEING ROBBED THE POLICE WOULD BE CALLED IN IF I LIED VBUT THEY HAVE NOT DONE IT. Of course as a civil case i have to take them to court and as expensive doing nothing, they think it will blow over.

'There's not much 'skill' in that!', you might exclaim? The 'Skill' part of the name is down to owner, Zahood. Over the last couple of years I've had equipment that hasn't worked and has almost ended up in the bin. Rather than consign it to landfill, I've been into Skill and Zahood has on every occasion bought the life back to my gear. The first time I walked in with an old Stylophone I asked 'Can you fix this?'. 'Is it electrical?' he responded. I nodded. 'Then I can fix it!' he triumphantly replied. It's now a running joke between us and I have him to thanks for repairing countless items recently. He's basically a superhero with a circuit tester and a soldering iron!

It's main line is adapters, connectors and wiring for basically any household electrics item. This includes audio/visual and computing. They also sell a small selection of home entertainment goods (radios/MP3/CD/DVD players) but it's pièce de résistance is their knowledge and willingness to impart this to customers when you ask for advice. This is also matched by their repairs service, something that you don't see so often these days. A sound little no-nonsense place to try if you're looking for that hard to find adaptor ... or even harder to find experienced advice.

I'm going to make some bold statements with this place. First up it is my favourite shop in Acocks…read moreGreen. I also think it must be the best hardware store in Birmingham. Jeffries is a huge hardware business that stocks all the standard nuts and bolts plus a huge selection of outdoor planting, perfect for this time of year, and has a large gardening section at the rear of the store. Recently I was after some fence protector and after a visit to a huge DIY shop felt frazzled by the choice in products, colours and price. One trip to Jeffries and I got exactly what I needed, no fuss, a great price and I parked my car at the rear of the store to load up. I also recently discovered they do key cutting. They stock a wide selection of pet products. The beauty of this place is that they've always got what you need and know exactly what you are asking for. On the very slim chance they don't stock what you are after they know where you should go to get it. Amazing staff and service.

In summary it's a big hardware store that sells all (or at least most) of the nuts and bolts you need for your home and they have a big garden centre. If they don't have what you want then the staff can tell you where to get it. The shop is mainly for people who want to buy anything to do with DIY for their home. I came in here in search of a few things for home and, I don't mean to offend anybody by stereotyping, as a woman in a hardware store I didn't know where to look first. The staff were friendly and polite enough however to put me in the right direction. If you need any hardware for your home and garden then it's worth giving this store a visit.
