A small and badly stocked branch of Currys. On the occassions when I have ventured in I have been put off by the patronising and unhelpful staff. I would recommend travelling a bit further and going to a better stocked branch! read more

The staff are very helpful and they have a delivery and fitting service which was excellent. I got a dishwasher from here recently and the assistant was brilliant, pointed out the special offers and showed me the differences in the models. And the great thing is that as they have expanded, buying out other small companies and some chains as well, they have stayed true to their great customer service. They offer top name brands and reasonable prices, quick support if you need it, really pleasant and helpful customer service, and swift delivery. I've just changed my TV with them, and they had the latest Panasonic Viera installed in my flat within three days of me making the request. On the downside, and the reason that I haven't given five stars, they only have the one showroom in Redhill, and I live in North London! Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I still like to look at the items before I rent / buy. However they do offer a 10-day "change your mind" period, where you can change to something else if you decide you don't like what they have sent you. I know that by now I could have bought several new TVs outright, but if something had gone wrong with any of them I would have been stuck with a repair or replacement bill. I did have one Toshiba TV go wrong and they replaced it realy fast, at no cost to me. I know renting isn't to everyone's taste, but I really like Forbes.

If you live in a flat then you should only use this company as an extreme last resort as they will very likely waste your time. I was under the impression that the deliverymen simply didn't wish to bother with it. They were talking about the difficulty of the job before they even entered the building. Save yourself the effort and find somebody else. I will say, though, that the customer service agents were very good.

It's generally easy to park close to the store and for free which mkes it a good choice for browsing. A full range of white goods and small electricals are stocked. Washing machines, dryers, cookers and cooling equipment form the bulk of the store and I find it a good idea to browse here before going to a more specialist retailer such as RSM in Knaphill. There is a limited range of computer equipment and a small but reasonable range in the sound department. There is not really a good range of TVs, and, for these, you'd be better off heading into Guildford and the retail parks there as the display at Woking is poor and cramped. Staff tend to be a bit perfunctory here - they either go into hard sell mode or can't be bothered to help at all. Disabled access around the store might be a bit hard as the products are quite cramped. You don't tend to get many manager's specials in this branch.

I was recently in the market for a new frying pan and this branch of Lakeland had the cheapest price for the frying pan I was after, nearly half the price Debenhams up the road were charging, even in their 'sale' :) This week I discovered it has an upstairs, and there's even more stuff up there than downstairs! One day this store may be responsible for bankrupting me!

The prices are reasonable too as they offer discount prices compared to other High Street retailers. Tags often include a price from another retailer (such as Argos, B&Q or Comet) and Wellington's lower price below. In some cases the prices are only fractionally cheaper but every little saving adds up. The service is efficient and friendly and the staff are clued up on their stock. The shop is tidy, spacious and rarely busy and so getting around and getting to talk to staff is easy enough. Parking is available in Northumberland Avenue around the corner. If you're looking for appliances for your home then Wellingtons should be checked out when you're shopping around.

My Chinese thrift gene generally keeps my spending in check but I have a weakness for cookbooks and kitchen appliances. Visits to Lakeland stores have therefore been dangerous sorties for me and my wallet in the past. Now, they've only gone and opened a store where I work! They carry a range of kitchen and household products. For my American friends, think William Sonoma but with a wider range of goods. They opened for business yesterday and I only had a brief look round. Fortunately not enough time to browse and buy properly. When I feel strong enough to resist, I'll be sure to be back.

If any of you Yelpers see me furtively sneaking in, you're within your rights, no in fact it's your duty to escort me out. Or at least confiscate my credit card! Lakeland describe themselves as the home of creative kitchenware and when I walk in here, there are so many things I didn't even know I wanted until I see them! Fortunately, my Chinese thrift genes kick in and over-ride immediate impulse buying. Otherwise I would be broke and I would need a much larger kitchen to store all my new gadgets Safe to say, I could spend hours browsing, imagining, thinking up recipes as I walk round. To be fair, you can find a lot of stuff here that's not available elsewhere and while you do pay a slight premium, I've found their equipment well-made and durable. I've made myself a pact. Walk round and decide what I would like to buy. Go away and have lunch first. Return and if I still really want it, I get it. Some favourite purchases over the years have included my cook's blowtorch, silicon baking sheets and coolskin gauntlet oven gloves. Now, can I really justify buying a pressurised foamer.....?
