I've been renting TVs all my life, dspite the growing trend to buy. When I first started renting from Forbes (way back when they were a small company) they were superb. And the great thing is that as they have expanded, buying out other small companies and some chains as well, they have stayed true to their great customer service. They offer top name brands and reasonable prices, quick support if you need it, really pleasant and helpful customer service, and swift delivery. I've just changed my TV with them, and they had the latest Panasonic Viera installed in my flat within three days of me making the request. On the downside, and the reason that I haven't given five stars, they only have the one showroom in Redhill, and I live in North London! Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I still like to look at the items before I rent / buy. However they do offer a 10-day "change your mind" period, where you can change to something else if you decide you don't like what they have sent you. I know that by now I could have bought several new TVs outright, but if something had gone wrong with any of them I would have been stuck with a repair or replacement bill. I have no idea if the appliances I rented were in good condition or not because I never saw them. The deliverymen they sent were apparently incapable of taking a washing machine up two flights of stairs. If you live in a flat then you should only use this company as an extreme last resort as they will very likely waste your time. I was under the impression that the deliverymen simply didn't wish to bother with it. They were talking about the difficulty of the job before they even entered the building. Save yourself the effort and find somebody else. I will say, though, that the customer service agents were very good. read more

Rented a Toshiba video from this company in December 2011, went wrong after a mere 3 months (couldn't record, play DVD etc) A service engineer turned up, who clearly had no knowledge about the item at all (didn't even know it had HDD) pronounced it unrepairable and said the company would call in half an hour about replacement. Why did he not carry a replacement with him? They say if they cannot repair then another will be left. No, they don't do that! Some two hours later, decided to call them not having heard anything. Surprise - they had no knowledge of the situation. Eventually stated a replacement would be sent in 11 days - so much for prompt service. After expressing dissatisfaction they promised to come the next working day (Monday) and to call to find out time of delivery. Called Monday morning, after long delay - no can't come today will have to be next Thursday. (If I'm lucky!) So we've already wasted two days arrangements so far, still being asked to pay the rental and replacement still uncertain. All I can say is "What a firm" read more

when i purchased my new home i needed to carry on with the existing rental of a washing machine and dryer for three months until i sorted a new one out for myself. As i was very busy with the move and work i decided to pay the whole amount upfront which would save me time and hassle making three payments at once rather than on three occasions. after the first month i received a demand for payment which i ignored because i was so busy thinking they would look into it and realise it was a mistake. that didnt happen but the following month received another demand totaling £116.28. The rent for the two items was agreed at £19.38 per month so i had paid £58.14 to clear it. I phoned the accounts dept on saturday to explain i had settled upfront and didnt owe anything else. Rachel (i think) was adamant that their records were right and insisted i paid the asking balance in full. i didnt have any proof of my payment and original contract because i had passed all my last years paperwork to my accountant for tax purposes. this caused me to waste hours of my time and lots of stress to try and prove my innocence. i had to book time off work to collect my old receipts from my accountant and go through them to find the original invoice. luckily i found it and when i phoned them today they couldnt try and con me out of £116.28. i was told it was a mistake on their side. if i didnt find my receipt i think they would have stuck to their claim that i owed them. not happy at all with their service as ive lost £80 for time off today plus all the stress . for a £60 rental ive ended up paying £80 extra just to clear my name and not be forced to pay £116.28 that i didnt owe in the first place. i strongly recommend people stay well away from this dodgy company because if i didnt fight this they would have definitely ripped me off read more
