Large shop, with big displays. Easy to find what you are looking for. Staff are helpful in general. I think the prices here are a little better than some competitors. However I find most prices can be beaten online. read more

In days gone by, Maplins was predominantly an electronics part supplier selling all sorts of diodes…read moreand transistors and capacitors. Although still selling parts and equipment such as soldering irons and all manner of switches and sockets, they have branched out into toys, games, and audio/video equipment as well as computer upgrades. If you are looking for a cable to connect your new TV to your gaming system, then maplin's probably have it in stock cheaper than your local electronic superstore. Although the wide range of products offered has 'watered down' the maplin store slightly, it is still a treasure-trove for out-of-the-ordinary electronic items and weird and wonderful bits you won't find anywhere else.
I don't often write bad reviews but here goes…read more Working as an assistant to a CEO turning over millions, I was given the task of finding a UK to India adapter as my boss is leaving for India tomorrow. Phoned a number of stores in Leeds as it was easier for me to commute to, with no success. Decided to try Maplins in Bradford after Maplins in Leeds suggested the idea. After waiting on the phone for 13 minutes to speak to someone in store found they had one, yay! So I reserved it. Arrived in Bradford, couldn't find the store so phoned them - another 7 minute wait. When I entered the store the item I had reserved earlier was produced only to find it was an India to UK adapter! I explained that wasn't what I asked for and that I'd emphasised on the phone it needed to be the other way round ie UK to India adapter. What a waste of a journey, waste of time queuing on the phone and left without even an apology. Sorry but you really need to brush up on all sorts here Maplins.
This is quite a little bargain basement store and full of surprises to be found. I was bored and…read morejust having a wonder one day and thought id go in for a browse and was amazed because from the outside it looks like junk but once inside there are some bargains to be had. Most of the stuff is catalogue returns and while some might be a little faulty like an ornament may have a little chip or there might be some pieces missing from a jigsaw or game there arent no major faults that would prevent you from buying the things. My niece wanted a new chain for her birthday and i found a lovely one in here brand new but the box was broken - it was bargain and i went on to find it was at least £20 dearer in argos so i was well chuffed. They sell the usual ex catalogue stuff like toys, games and puzzles and games consoles, electrical items and jewellery. They also had a decent range of handbags and other accessories. The staff are nice and friendly and not too busy as i dont think the shop has caught on yet - maybe people look at the outside and think its a junk shop like i did. There are 3 steep steps up so it isnt disabled friendly.

I've read some really poor reviews for this company but I had someone call round and measure up for carpet. U pay £30 then the fitters come fit the carpet, u pay them £40 then £10 a week interest free. Its not cheap but i don't miss a 10er. Once you've paid half u can then get another room done. Everything I had done was professional and I've no complaints. The Cardiff team are top notch and I'd recommend them.

From cleaning products, kitchen items, DIY bits and bobs, cheap snacks, cards and so much more - they've got it covered. If you're a keen shopper/browser it's a veritable treasure chest to explore. My particular favourite is the upstairs section. Here's where the items get slightly less bargainous and become a little higher end... They've beds, lamps and all other kinds of home furnishings in a range of styles. Faux-antique right through to the more modern sleek look. I bought an awesome 'telephone box' lamp for my room at home, which is so kitsch and delightful and only set me back £15. (I can imagine it costing a ton more in a vintage shop!) My Mum was particularly overjoyed with a red painted vase that she picked up as well, of which they had many different shades! So, there's plenty to get excited about, and not too pricey as well. However, all that glitters is not gold. I did come away having purchased a few oil reed scent dispensers (the pots of oils with the wooden reeds) and they simply don't work at all. They were only a pound each, but I can see why they were so cheap as they give off no scent at all! Even so, I'm pleased as punch with my lamp so that more than makes up for it!
I was first introduced to QLM by my new wife (I change them quite often, not really if you're…read morereading this love) just after we set up home together. It was the first time I'd been in a shop which I cannot categorize by what it sells, IT SELLS EVERYTHING !! From bleach to crisps, rugs to xbox games, they have almost everything under one roof. The only thing I can say lets it down is a lack of electrical goods like TV's but if you're looking for a pack of brass tacks and a birthday card for auntie Mabel this is a good place to start........ and if you're feeling tired you can nip upstairs and pretend you're testing a bed out :)
