Beautiful carriage house converted to hotel. The staff are so helpful, my room is cozy and feels like you're home. It's beautiful and clean. Marcus was so nice and helpful. This is my second stay here. My niece lives here in Greeley and this has quickly become my choice of places to stay when I visit. Always clean. Aside from an occasional train, it's quiet. The rooms are clean and the beds are cozy. I always sleep like a baby here. Staff is friendly, and check in is a breeze. The creperie is a delightful bonus! read more

Now we know why the room is non-refundable! Check-in requires that a code be used at the main entrance (provided by Currier Inn) and another to get into the room. Arrival 4:00 PM: no attendant present. Booked the Robert Cameron room. Bathroom door found locked on arrival. Called for help (BTW, no phone in room, need cell phone). Room small, cramped, no shower and very small tub, beds not firm, narrow, overly soft. Ceiling fan required me to stand on a chair to reach chain to turn on. No water cups in room. TV required IT degree! Called for help to set up TV and bring cups. Came and pushed a few buttons, but never fully explained how to use. I mistakenly thought this was a bed and "breakfast", but you have to pay for breakfast! Though they provide 20% off coupons... We decided to check out and go home, forfeiting the remainder of our stay. While the place was early century quaint, and the a/c worked great, it was "spartan" at best, and we would not recommend to anyone. read more

We spent a lovely week here last week (June 2019) and loved the place! The owners (Derick and Stephanie) were just wonderful to us, very talkative and informative, and the food was great. The room was very comfortable. We could open the window or turn on the AC, which had room by room controls. The location is really great, too, right near downtown and in a lovely, historic neighborhood with lots of great walking areas! Overall, I would give it the highest recommendation! read more

The Currier is a beautiful, super charming bed & breakfast not too far off the well-beaten path of I-25 and well worth the extra bit of driving. Our room was amazing and very well appointed. Stephanie and her husband were wonderful hosts, so welcoming and easygoing. Breakfast was delicious, and Stephanie made sure we left satisfied. Unfortunately our experience was not a good one. Had the Horace Greeley room on the first floor. The problem was that we weren't told until after check in that an Opera organization in town sings to piano music playing right outside the bedroom door until 10pm the first night. We were tired from coming in from dinner, wanting to get some rest. Not so. After the music then there was chatter until 11pm. Next night same thing, singing and playing the piano until 11pm. Directly outside our thin door. It was unbelievable. If you're looking for a peaceful evening, go elsewhere. I asked Stephanie if we could have breakfast at 7am because we had to be at an event at 8am. She agreed. 6:45am, livingroom/diningroom is dark, no lights on. No coffee made. 7am and here comes Stephanie from the top floor where they live, barefoot, hair tossled, no makeup, it was obvious she had just shot out of bed. It was probably from all the partying with their Opera friends from the night before. Stephanie asked, "Oh. You didn't turn on any lights?" Excuse me? I couldn't believe it. Was it our JOB to find a light switch? I think an apology that our breakfast wasn't ready was more suitable. Then she asked, "You didn't make any coffee?" Is she joking I asked my friend. She can't be serious. That's not our job, Stephanie. Unbelievable. There was no smile to imply a joke, no apology, and there will not be a return visit I'm sad to report. She brought out pre-packaged cups of mandarin oranges and placed them in front of us. "Here, you can start on this." Like we're children. Speaking of children, their grandchildren twin girls came the day before. I needed the room made up because my friend was coming up. Stephanie's husband didn't get around to it until 10 minutes before her arrival because they were too busy visiting with their daughter in law and the twins. I stayed in the great room for hours so that he could have access to change the sheets, etc. Unbelievable. Wasting my time. I felt ignored throughout the entire weekend. I've stayed at so many inns and was never treated like this before. The breakfast that second morning when we were rushed was something that was quickly microwaved leftovers because there simply wasn't time for her to do it properly since she overslept. If you're planning on staying here, you might ask about opera singing going on if what you're looking for is a nice, quiet respite so you won't be surprised and very, very tired the next day when you have an 8am commitment. read more

My room and the facility itself were very nice. However, the "amenities" were extremely disappointing. I was told that the kitchen was being renovated and so breakfast items would be put out in the morning for guests to serve themselves. That consisted of 2 "clamshell" containers of muffins and 2 of donut holes, likely from a local grocery store, and a bunch of bananas. Next to these was a handwritten note that said "for guests" and a stack of paper bowls, even though none of the breakfast options required a bowl. Not even any napkins provided. When you advertise as a Bed & Breakfast and the reminder email that is sent 4 days before my stay discusses the breakfast schedule, asks about dietary restrictions, etc, it shows a total lack of planning or concern on your part. How about a couple of other fruit choices and a selection of pastries from a local bakery? Or if that's too much trouble, make an adjustment in the rate to compensate for not providing breakfast. There was also a coffee pot in my room but no cups or coffee provided. It troubles me to post a negative review for a local business, especially given how difficult things have been this past year, but I also don't want other guests to be disappointed as I was. read more

A good B & B should have stellar accommodations or should have hosts who make the stay a special experience. A GREAT B & B, like the Sod Buster, has BOTH! First, the accommodations. The octagonal shaped building with full wrap-around porch (complete with rocking chairs) is absolutely beautiful. The interior lobby with spiral staircase is picture perfect. Interestingly, the Sod Buster stands on the site of an original Greeley mansion which burned down decades ago. The B & B was built to reflect the historic neighborhood in which it stands, but has all modern day facilities. So, unlike some B & B's which were never intended to house multiple guests (e.g. not enough plumbing) or newer "resorts" which have a corporate feel, the Sod Buster gives you old world charm with new world amenities. But it's the hosts, Stephanie and Derek Boulton, that really make the Sod Buster something special. We had actually rented the entire facility from the previous owners for our wedding rehearsal dinner and for our guests' lodging. Two weeks before the wedding we heard the place had been sold! Panicked, we called to make sure the new owners knew we had the place reserved. Not only were the Boulton's assuring and accommodating, they went out of their way to make sure everything ran without a hitch. These two go the extra mile, from tea & scones in the afternoon, to hosting community events, to raising the overall caliber and energy in the Greeley Monroe historical district and downtown area - well, it's hard to give them enough praise. The Sod Buster is an oasis of casual elegance in Greeley; the rooms are exquisitely appointed, comfortable and spacious, many with unique features like a claw-footed bathtub or a four-poster bed. The building itself is a unique architectural gem in Greeley; spacious with generous common areas, gardens and porch. The hosts are the most genial and lovely people and the food -- well, it should be called a "breakfast and bed" if priorities mattered. (Make sure you try Stephanie's scones!) It's a FABULOUS place for special events; I've had several there myself, and whenever I have an important guest in town, the Sod Buster is where they stay. Trust me when I say to STOP SHOPPING and book your stay at the Currier Inn. Stephanie and Derek are simply delightful and the Inn is full of charm and class. The breakfast is outstanding and the local chatter warms the heart. They are a little bit more expensive, but you forget about it within minutes of arrival. I was a musician performing for an event that the Currier Inn was hosting. Everyone was very nice, however there were crumbs on the table before the event even started (and no one from this event had been eating anything). To make matters worse the piano was HORRIBLY out of tune. So, so terrible! How can musicians perform with an out of tune piano? I've heard that they host musical events regularly, so I figured the piano was tuned regularly. It was so embarrassing to perform with this piano--and it absolutely ruined the recordings (some of which were world premieres!). Like I said, it was a nice facility to use, but how can you host a musical event without tuning the piano? Very unprofessional of them. read more
