A little while back I got a knock on my door out of the blue and it was Al from Noce's Paving. He…read moresaid that his paving crew was in the area and they were about to finish up another job and had nothing scheduled for the afternoon and was wondering if I was interested in re-paving part or all of my driveway.....TODAY! Well despite my driveway having a lot of cracks with weeds growing out of them, I hadn't really seriously considered taking on the time and expense of a full re-paving as my driveway is about 270 feet long and has a small parking area that is about 1000 square feet. Plus, I didn't know him from Adam and it kind of sounded like a scam. However, I was intrigued by the thought of a nice and clean new driveway so I asked him if he could give me an estimate on the cost. He got out his measuring equipment and took some measurements and did some calculations and he gave me a figure for just the long, skinny part of my driveway which was in the worst shape. He said that the parking area was still OK but would need to be redone in the not too distant future and my back area was still in very good shape and didn't need any work. Well being that I'm no expert on whether it was a good price or a highly inflated price, I said I would think about it and get back to him on it before the end of the day as I wanted to make a few calls and compare prices. Al was as polite as can be and handed me his card and said that that would be great and that he would wait for my call. So I did just that, I called 3 or 4 other pavers and they worked me up some quotes for me and lo and behold, Al's price beat them all by a comfortable margin. So I figured, what the heck and called him back and told him that I was in. He said that they would be over in about 30 minutes and sure enough, an entire paving crew with trucks and machinery was there as promised and they started prepping my driveway. I then asked Al if he would work out a deal for me if I wanted to get the parking area re-paved too and a few minutes later he gave me another very fair price quote. Well, me being me, I made a counteroffer on the price and a few minutes later we shook hands on the deal which worked out even better per square foot than before. So after a few hours of work, my driveway was finished and looked incredible. I can't tell you how much of a difference it makes on the curb appeal of my house. Not to mention how much easier it will be to clear the snow in the winter. My next-door neighbor came over while they were working and he was a bit incredulous about the whole knock on my door and offer to pave my driveway offer, but even he was impressed by how great it came out and said that he would like to re-pave his in the next year or two as well. So I have nothing by praise for Al & Noce's Paving. He was a straight shooter and didn't put any pressure on me to hire them. And then he gave me a very good price and did a fantastic job. I highly recommend them. Once again, I thank Al and his crew for all their hard work! It's now been almost a year now and my driveway looks as beautiful as ever.

So I have waited 24 hrs to write this hoping Kevin would do the right thing. I hired him in June to…read moredo both-weekly cleaning and care for my salt-chlorinated pool after a disaster with Mr B's in Hazlet. Add-on was helping with taking water there and recommending chemicals in between. Kevin was here Tuesday and cleaned and checked chemicals (??!??) I told him I needed salt. I had seen the salt chlorinator had a red light and said 'check salt' still after he left I took the water to add-on. They told me I need 240 lb's of salt, chlorine, phos-free and many other chemicals. I immediately texted Kevin the results because he was 'on his way'. He then told me he couldn't service my pool because I 'under minded him' !!! And never came back!! Well, thanks Kevin (waaah-waaah) I thought I was helping and was having a family BBQ on Saturday! What a joke! What lack of professionalism! This is what's wrong with the world today!! Waah waah my feelings are hurt I can't work for you!

There's so many stories to be told at the thrift store and God only knows what you could contract. This is a pretty cool place because the profits go to support Habitat For Humanity, which everyone considers a worthy cause (unless you're one of the monsters who applauded Jimmy Carter having cancer). What makes this place unique is that they don't just have furniture and home goods, they also have some of the odds and ends left over from construction and renovation projects. I could have spent days there looking and dreaming up DIY projects. That is, if I wasn't terrified of germs.

Went to donate home goods on a Tuesday morning. Easy back lot drop off. Very helpful workers.read more
