When I called your office, I said I needed to exchange some Danish Kroner for dollars. I also said that a few were Dkr. 500.00 notes, and I could not change those at the airport. The CEI agent said that was no problem. However, when I visited the CEI booth at Copley Place, the agent told me they could not exchange them either, only values up to Dkr. 200. My question is, WHY? Relatively hassle free and convenient location to the Westin Copley, where I was staying on business. The kiosk staff are a little distant and do not look at you at all. I'm not one to care about that kind of thing as long as the service is executed properly, however... They miscounted my money (I had counted beforehand, but if I hadn't done so and corrected her, I'd have been down an extra $13!). Despite them acknowledging my 50% off service fee coupon prior to making the transaction, they 'forgot' and tried to charge me for the full price ($10). I went to exchange 1550 British Pound to US dollar today. The rate is lower than the other place. I sold 1550 British Pound and only got $1554.19 (excluded $10 exchange fee). I checked online and 1550 GBP should exchange to $1681 US dollars. I lost about $116 US dollar there. Unhappy! read more

Worst customer service in person!! I ordered euros online and ask for specific denominators. They emailed me back saying they will have it for me and honor the best rate but did not do both. I got the wrong denominators and was told that those are all they have even though I ordered in advance. On top of that they will not honor the better rate I found, saying that its a Saturday and they cannot call the bank to verify the rate the bank has which was clearly stated on the banks website. The rate I was given after the "50% off" discount worked out to a 6.9% fee as compared to the real exchange rate on Google.com This is a very hefty fee - and I would avoid doing currency exchanges if at all possible. I just exchanged some dollars for Euros for a trip to France in a few weeks at the Copley Place CXI kiosk. The clerk had a very pleasant demeanor which made the whole process (which is a once-every-three-years event to me) feel easy and professional. She suggested that I obtain 50's instead of 100's as they would be easier to exchange once I get to France. A very good tip. She explained why they don't exchange coins (which, because I'm weird, I found interesting.) The rate they offered was the same as my bank but my bank charged a $10 fee. I used my debit card to make the exchange (I had to have the bank increase my daily withdrawal limit - make sure you know what it is.) The take the currency back for no fee either. Not at the same price but they have to make money too. Hopefully the Euro rebounds while I'm there. I would go back to this kiosk any time I needed currency. read more

My first encounter with CEI happened last summer. I was so set on just using my debit card overseas, but that idea was very short-lived. My bank told me they'd charge me outrageous fees (uhm, no thanks) so I found myself in good ol' Copley Place. I came back from vacation with some money that I'd never gotten around to changing back to US dollars, and I actually carried them around with me for a couple months before finally getting to a currency exchange. The person working there was very nice, even asking how my trip was. They have a fee for changing money, but I was changing a very low amount, and I guess the person felt sorry for charging the fee on such a small transaction and waived it for me. While the advertisement says get your $ in 1-2 business days, think of it more like 1-2 weeks. I placed an order with them on a Tuesday right after noon, and by next tuesday, one of the currencies I ordered had STILL not arrived. I went on vacation the next day, so I never actually used their services. In general, their rates are no worse or better than other currency converters, but they are at a convenient location.
