I have been a customer of Currency Exchange International since 2023, and unfortunately, I had a very disappointing experience on August 21st, 2026. I went there with my teenage daughter to purchase €1,500. The employee counted the money next to me, and I asked him to include €5 bills. He then placed the money in an envelope and gave it to me. I received a receipt showing that I had purchased €1,500. When we got back to the car, I decided to count the money, and unfortunately, I discovered that there were only €1,400 in the envelope--€100 was missing. I was shocked because I had never experienced anything like this before. Unfortunately, since the receipt showed €1,500, I had no way to prove that I was actually given only €1,400. I trusted the employee and never thought I needed to count the money before leaving. In the past, I had always had a good experience at this location, especially with a young lady who was very professional and trustworthy. After this experience, however, I have completely lost my trust in this location and will not be returning. I hope management takes this matter seriously and reminds employees that customers should receive exactly the amount they pay for. read more

What a great service! Maria was not only professional in the transaction but went above and beyond in explaining how to handle out-of-circulation notes and in carrying a pleasant conversation about her global worldwide interests - your employer is lucky! The whole experience felt like I am a world traveler again. Thank you Maria! read more

Great customer service! Only place in Boston. Better than bank with price protection. read more

Currency Exchange International - Best currency exchange is Boston - Currency Exchange Near Me - Boston, Massachusetts

When I called your office, I said I needed to exchange some Danish Kroner for dollars. I also said that a few were Dkr. 500.00 notes, and I could not change those at the airport. The CEI agent said that was no problem. However, when I visited the CEI booth at Copley Place, the agent told me they could not exchange them either, only values up to Dkr. 200. My question is, WHY? And what can I do? Traveling back to Denmark is out of the question for me. Jan van Steenwijk read more

Friendly, professional, and prompt (was able to get two types of out-of-stock currency for two countries in Southeast Asia within a couple of business days). By picking up at the Copley Sq location, I was also able to avoid the grief/expense of FedEx delivery. The fee is incredibly reasonable. I would definitely use this service again! read more

Very bad exchange rate. I would have lost 70 usd compared with google rate - wasted time getting here

No communication still waiting for a response. How can I get in touch with them? called several time no responce

Went to get money for an upcoming trip and Anzah as so kind and helpful. I was originally really confused with the process and she helped me through the entire thing. She explained everything so clearly! read more

Good place for currency exchange but no transparency about the conversion rate of the currency/ the rate being offered. The rep did not give me the estimated conversion rate. This reduces the value of my currency by about 50$ read more

So easy. I went in to pick up some Euros and British Pounds for an upcoming trip and was done in maybe 3 mins tops. The exchange rate was fair and no extra/hidden fees. I was very pleased. I have used this place before and will use them again. 2nd floor of Copley Place, small glass kiosk in the middle. (Bring currency to exchange, don't put it on your credit card as I read it is then a cash advance). read more

Relatively hassle free and convenient location to the Westin Copley, where I was staying on business. The kiosk staff are a little distant and do not look at you at all. I'm not one to care about that kind of thing as long as the service is executed properly, however... They miscounted my money (I had counted beforehand, but if I hadn't done so and corrected her, I'd have been down an extra $13!). Despite them acknowledging my 50% off service fee coupon prior to making the transaction, they 'forgot' and tried to charge me for the full price ($10). When I pointed this out the problem was resolved. Nothing against the workers; maybe they were genuinely not in their best shape that day. However, the fact of the matter is that if I hadn't been as mentally present as I was, I would have walked away with 18 fewer dollars in my pocket! read more

Natalia was helpful and friendly and her professionalism and customer service skills were excellent! I have found this place to be a fast and easy way to pick up currency prior to a trip abroad. read more

I went to exchange 1550 British Pound to US dollar today. The rate is lower than the other place. I sold 1550 British Pound and only got $1554.19 (excluded $10 exchange fee). I checked online and 1550 GBP should exchange to $1681 US dollars. I lost about $116 US dollar there. Unhappy! read more

Great service, very efficient and friendly. Located on the second floor of the Copland place mall, it's a small space that you can spot after coming off the escalators. Not great exchange and buy back rates. They're very good answering phones as well in case you want to enquire about rates. read more

Natalia was exceptional in answering all my questions and getting the Euros I needed right away. As a Bank of America customer she matched the bank's exchange rate. I could not have received the Euros the same day from the bank! Great experience - very professional! read more

Worst customer service in person!! I ordered euros online and ask for specific denominators. They emailed me back saying they will have it for me and honor the best rate but did not do both. I got the wrong denominators and was told that those are all they have even though I ordered in advance. On top of that they will not honor the better rate I found, saying that its a Saturday and they cannot call the bank to verify the rate the bank has which was clearly stated on the banks website. What a scam!! read more

Hassle-free experience. I ordered Euros and Swiss Francs. Great customer service. Notified by phone when my order was ready. I will use this currency exchange again. read more

The rate I was given after the "50% off" discount worked out to a 6.9% fee as compared to the real exchange rate on Google.com This is a very hefty fee - and I would avoid doing currency exchanges if at all possible. Also the 50% off is just from a set $5 fee (or $10 if you are exchanging more than $500 USD). So in reality it saves you just $2.50 or $5.00 read more

I had a great experience here! I wanted to exchange some money on short notice before leaving for vacation, and everyone I interacted with was professional and helpful. Their Best Rate Guarantee ensured that my dollars went a little farther, and I also checked in with Yelp to save 50% on their exchange fee. It was easy to find (2nd floor Copley Place Mall), and lightning fast. read more

I just exchanged some dollars for Euros for a trip to France in a few weeks at the Copley Place CXI kiosk. The clerk had a very pleasant demeanor which made the whole process (which is a once-every-three-years event to me) feel easy and professional. She suggested that I obtain 50's instead of 100's as they would be easier to exchange once I get to France. A very good tip. She explained why they don't exchange coins (which, because I'm weird, I found interesting.) The rate they offered was the same as my bank but my bank charged a $10 fee. I used my debit card to make the exchange (I had to have the bank increase my daily withdrawal limit - make sure you know what it is.) The take the currency back for no fee either. Not at the same price but they have to make money too. Hopefully the Euro rebounds while I'm there. I would go back to this kiosk any time I needed currency. read more

Let them take the confusion out of it for you. Easy, professional and accommodating. Easy to find (2nd floor), lots of mall security around which gives you a secure feeling and very professional staff. read more

My first encounter with CEI happened last summer. I was so set on just using my debit card overseas, but that idea was very short-lived. My bank told me they'd charge me outrageous fees (uhm, no thanks) so I found myself in good ol' Copley Place. The fee was super minimal, the service was great, the rates were favorable, and with little wait I had euros in hand! Overall, highly recommended! A+! I'd so go back. Now I wish I just traveled more often. read more

They advertised as best rate guaranteed but they rate are pretty bad, it was 8 cents lower than Bank of America and when I told them they were super rude with me. Don't event waste your time with them. read more

Quick, and efficient service with a smile. This place gave me the best rates of all the places that I checked in Boston (including my crap bank). I had inadvertently brought home some colones from costa rica, and i couldn't find anywhere that would give me a decent rate so i walked around with this foreign currency for 8 months until I found CEI. The place is really easy to find. Third floor of the copley place mall right at the top of the escalator across from legal seafoods. Thank you CEI. read more

I would have given this 5 stars, except it's hard to find! It's in Copley Place, on the 2nd floor. I was looking for a store but it is a booth. I had put the address in the GPS on my phone and it took me in circles. Other than that, it is quick and easy. I was done in less than 2 minutes. They follow the given rates that you can find anywhere, and there is a 50% off coupon on their website for their exchange fee. Since I was exchanging less than $100, the fee was only $1.50 (with the coupon). read more

I've tried exchanging at banks and found that this is easily the better deal. Amanda is super nice, they have better rates than my bank, and it's an easy walk in and out. I've exhanged here a handful of times without any hassle, :). read more

Very helpful and friendly! def will use this place again! coupon is key!

Good service, and average rate - there was a 9% commission on the exchange rate for 200€.

I came back from vacation with some money that I'd never gotten around to changing back to US dollars, and I actually carried them around with me for a couple months before finally getting to a currency exchange. The person working there was very nice, even asking how my trip was. They have a fee for changing money, but I was changing a very low amount, and I guess the person felt sorry for charging the fee on such a small transaction and waived it for me. It was a nice surprise and a good experience, so I would recommend them to others. Obviously, currency trading is a straightforward transaction with little room for differentiation, but they made the experience easy and enjoyable, so I wanted to reward that with a good review. read more

I went here to exchange for some Dominican Peso for vacation. The whole process was easy and there was a 50% off for processing fee when I checked in. However, they didn't carry enough of the amount I wished to exchange. read more

I didn't realize this is on the Copley Mall, 2nd floor. Asked directions at Customer Service booth and got 50% off exchange fee charge. At first I didn't understand the coupon (didn't look at it). I have Dealt with CEI for over 2 years. The service is great !! They can get hard to find currencies and will give you a great price. The price was 10-15 % cheaper then online traders. Amanda is great also (The Manager). Very Professional!! read more

After taking several weeks of calling around to different exchange places like and banks I found that Currency Exchange International had the best rates around and the lowest fees. When I called I placed an order that was going to take two business days to get it in I was surprised when I received a call the next day saying it was ready to be picked up! Overall great customer service. When I travel again next year I will be using them again. ALSO!! There highest fee is only $10 which is what I had to pay but with my coupon for 50% off I only paid $5!! read more

While the advertisement says get your $ in 1-2 business days, think of it more like 1-2 weeks. I placed an order with them on a Tuesday right after noon, and by next tuesday, one of the currencies I ordered had STILL not arrived. I went on vacation the next day, so I never actually used their services. In general, their rates are no worse or better than other currency converters, but they are at a convenient location. It's a shame they don't actually convert your money in a timely fashion. read more

They are very friendly and very nice... A very attractive blond young man works there he can exchange my currency anytime
