It looks like the menu changes from time to time and the blackboard showed a selection of dishes and starters. There were two meat options for main, those being chicken or pork, with another two vegetarian options. I chose the pork to go along with my Pinot noir and my wife had the grilled asparagus. The pork was roasted and very nice. Peas and broad beans accompanied along with a minty salsa verde. The winner of lunch however was the goats curd on my wife's plate. It was amazing! I would recommend this place and definitely come back. That said, there are many many options in the area. Booking ahead is a must. There are several 2/4 person tables and a couple of long tables. Walk-ins seem to get seated at the long tables. Groups are catered for and on the day we were there, there was a party group downstairs among the oak barrels.

What started off as "we'll stop for 1 drink and then go climb a mountain' turned into a lazy 3hr Sunday session. Which only ended because we really had to get home. The staff here are amazingly friendly and helpful. They really know their cider and have a delicious range of locally sourced produce available. Start off with a tasting before you buy a bottle or two. With four distinct varieties it's best to try before you buy. The Tavern area itself is a quaint barn/church hall style building. Big comfy couches, warming rugs and a lot of blue stone. The outdoor area has half a dozen tables and a pizza oven. As well as two very friendly dogs. We'll be back again in winter to sit by the wood fire and drink our cares away.

Me and some family members tried some and each tasting was more impressive than the last. 2 people from our group don't drink so they ordered coffee and went to sit outside next to the pond. The starter platter was decent: excellent Turkish bread with some standard dips and very nice cheese. The pizza, however, was terrible. The crust tasted like frozen pizza, the sauce was overly sweet and overly seasoned with herbs. We didn't finish, and we saw that was a pretty regular occurrence. Then came dessert, which was devine! It took a little over 3 hours all up. Worth the wait though and we had a really lovely time. They are also hard to get on the phone. They said they often don't hear the phone when they are busy, so I had to give up and just arrive with more people than I originally booked for. Including us, they had a few big tables full and there was not a spare seat or table in sight, so we probably saw them at their very busiest. The cheeses, antipasto and bread were very good quality. The waitress came to greet us, asked if we were seeking a table for 4, looked around at the empty tables and then turned to us & flatly stated: "No, we can't accommodate you today." That was it, no other explanation. Just a statement, no apology or reason offered. Surprised, we asked why this was the case. Her reply was "We just had a table of 9 and 5 arrive & we can't put extra pressure on the kitchen." Again, no apology that they couldn't help us. Just the rudest, most unwelcome treatment I have ever received upon entering a restaurant where I intended to spend my money. What was more confusing was why did she bother to look around, notice vacant tables and then proceed to inform us that they could not accommodate us? My mother-in-law, who is local to the area, then stated that this has happened to her family before & that it is simply not good enough & that she would not be returning to this venue. At this time another staff member had ventured over & said "Good, we don't want you to come back!" I was absolutely amazed at the obscene rudeness of these two staff members. It was completely uncalled for & utterly disgusting! We were dressed casually but reasonably, we did not behave in any lewd way or use poor language. All we did was enter the premises with the intention to have a meal. If we were greeted with an actual reason for not being able to stay, rather than the rudest waitress I have ever encountered, we would have left happily to seek a meal elsewhere. I cannot recall a time when I have ever been treated so rudely by a customer service worker. It was completely unnecessary & utterly appalling.
