I use to like this place but the other day changed my mind. The person who gave me my food was nice so it's not the service it's the food. I love their fish sandwich but this time what the ---- happened. The bread was soggy and very small amount of cheese / lettuce. The piece of fish was half the size of the bread. Culver's Butterburgers and Frozen Custard opened finally 7/16/14. A slight delayed opening due to Largo's strict permit structure. A welcomed new comer in the burger chain experience here in Florida. This burger establishment has it's roots in the Midwest, Wisconsin actually. Started in 1984 by a husband and wife, it's grown to over 500 units and is still family owned. As this was our first visit I had to go with what's made them famous an original Butterburger deluxe, double patty, cheese, mayo, pickles, onions, lettuce, and tomato on a lightly buttered toasted bun. All I can say is YES....welcome to Largo! I opted as my side chili fries, which were hot and delicious. My Bride chose the fish sandwich, North Atlantic Cod Filet. She said it was better than any fast food and even most restaurants! Not greasy with a nice outer crunch to it. We both had shakes with our meals. Creamy, thick, awesome, custard shakes. There is so much more than just burgers too. Shaved Prime Rib sandwich, chicken ( bone in or boneless), pork tenderloin, Reuben's, chopped steaks, and soups, salads. We finally found an opportunity to stop by on Saturday morning. It is a nicely up-scaled fast food restaurant. We had been waiting for months while construction slowly crept along. At long last, we were finally in front of the massive overhead menu board. With an intense sense of urgency, we ordered. We both got the Culver's Deluxe burger with two patties and with everything on them. We also ordered fries, onion rings and some chocolate shakes. With our order number in hand, we scooped up a fist full of napkins (because bearded men are very messy eaters) and took a seat in a cozy booth. It only took a few minutes for our food to arrive pipping hot. The burgers actually looked like the promotional pictures on the walls! They are very similar to the burgers at Steak and Shake by virtue of the way they are cooked..smashed. They were quite tasty but I do prefer an un-smashed patty as far as consistency and bite goes. They did, however, taste better than Steak and Shake's burgers. I usually love crinkle cut fries but theirs have a coating on them that was a bit heavy. To my great glee, the onion rings were awesome. I will get the large size next time! As a heads-up to anyone ordering a milkshake, mine was not a beverage! It was a frozen dessert. Apparently, I do not have the lung capacity necessary to drink their milkshakes through a straw. It was very tasty to eat with the spoon provided, though. I was pretty excited to try this place out because of the variety in its menu. I've been here twice and only had the double bacon deluxe, single patty just doesn't cut it. The patty is definitely fresher than typical fast food places, but the quality doesn't exceed my fast food expectations. Crinkle cut fries! Yum yum. They always come out hot and crispy for me. These fries have been the highlight of my trips here. I also tried the Oreo concrete mixer, which was delicious. It's pretty much Oreos mixed in their frozen custard, need I say more? I'd rate this location 4 stars but the slow service knocks it down to 3. Don't get me wrong, the employees are always friendly. But that's not enough to make up for me having to wait 20 minutes for a burger and fries, on both of my visits. Not to mention they failed to follow through with my order, which was no onions in the burger. But that's not enough to stop me from coming back because their vast menu is appealing. Culver's/ East Bay Dr. Largo, FL, is the best; we've always had such delicious food and the folks are so kind and friendly. They greet you when you arrive, they call your name when delivering your food and they come by to check to see if everything is OK. Very tasty. 6min later I had to go to the counter & ask for my mixer. When I got it....it wasn't horrible. For the price & service, we will stick with Toppers across the street. Now in largo Florida the burgers are very greasy the diet root been is more carbonation than flavor, and the custard is pretty flavorless, they make up for it with candy on top. The cost is outrageous, I easily drop 15$ for drive through! The lobby is a joke...I've watches high school kids walk around the dining areas, with my food uncovered 4 times looking for the number on my table. UPDATE: The store manager called and profusely apologized to us and was more than willing to makes things right. Wish more businesses would follow suit! We come here 2x a month for their awesome burgers and custard. But today was the worst experience of any restaurant in recent memory. It was busy when we walked in. We ordered two custards, dine-in. We waited for over 25 minutes with no desserts. I went up to the counter and there were no crowds at that point...and asked where our order was. The guest number on the receipt didn't match the number the gave us to place on our table, which may have been the issue. However, we were given two free vouchers with ZERO explanation. Ten minutes later we finally received our desserts, both of which were melted down, liquified and tasted horrible. It had the consistency of soup. Gross! It was as if the custard sat there for 30 minutes before being served. We'll take our business to another location going forward. Get it together, Culvers! read more

Placed a very basic order. time on receipt was 6:51 pm. ordered a dbl butter burger, mashed potatoes, lrg cheese curds, single burger (no cheese) sml sweet potatoes fries. Nothing special. Nothing out of the ordinary. Time I walked out. 7:19. IT TOOK 30 MINUTES FOR ME TO GET A SIMPLE ORDER? It was not even crowded. Well after the dinner crowd. The only excuse I recd was they have new people. But what I saw was extremely poor managment. No one was taken care of the customer needs who were waiting. This culver's is one of the best in the area at listening to orders and making to a certain specification when it comes time to burgers. However, the way they handle chicken orders could be better. For example, if you order a four piece chicken strip or a chicken sandwich and want it to be more crispy/fresh/seasoned be prepared to check your food. Besides the main food, the desserts are more of a...required taste, to put it lightly. Before early in the year the ice cream/soft serve/custard (whatever you want to call it, it's all ice cream to me) used to be well blended and smooth. Now maybe because of the custard maker needing to be cleaned or the ingredients not being the same their is a, 'grittiness', to the ice cream. That is the best way I can think to describe it. After eating the ice cream now I am always left with that weird, funky texture on the roof of my mouth. :P All in all, the burgers are great, the Honey Mustard and Bar-B-Que sauce is nice, sweet and tangy, and the chicken when made right is fantastic. 3 out of 5 until the ice cream doesn't leave a thin film of whatever on the roof of my mouth. read more

Horrible, horrible, horrible! We were here a few months ago and the service was terribly slow. Took almost 20 minutes to get a plain cheeseburger and fries. Today we were on our way home from running errand so we thought we would give it another try. BIG MISTAKE. We placed our order, one cheeseburger, one deluxe cheeseburger and a malt! 25 minutes later we are still waiting for our food. A server finally came out and said they had a problem with their printer and it would be another 5 to 10 minutes. As we sat there, people who came in after us were getting their food! When ours finally came the burgers were not palatable, my husbands malt was melted; the only thing edible were the French fries! The burgers must have sat on the grill the entire 25 minutes. The manager wanted to give us another order which we declined--we did not have another half hour to sit there. Best fast food burgers you can get! I always get the double bacon butter burger with cheese curds. Really good burger and I enjoy it everytime. I have visited Culver's twice now. My experiences have been pretty mixed. On my first visit, I ordered a Cheddar ButterBurger with cheese curds. My meal was really good and could easily compete with something from a chain like Chili's or Applebees and win. It was a little pricey for fast food, but I was intrigued and wanted to try it again. I was particularly in love with the cheese curds that oozed gooey cheese. They weren't as good as the ones from the fair, but I don't know anyone else that has cheese curds. My second visit I ordered a Crispy Southwest Chicken Sandwich with Cheese Curds. The sandwich was okay. It was actually a little overcooked and could have used more flavor. The cheese curds were extremely overcooked and the cheese didn't ooze like they had on my previous visit. I was so disappointed with this meal. Again it was pricey. I think it ranged somewhere between $11-$13. Another thing that I HATE about this location is that both times I have been here, they have made me pull forward and wait for my food. They have "spots" on the side of the driveway that there frankly is not enough room for. I am always terrified that my car is going to be hit by the people behind me in the drive-thru trying to get past (somehow other people seem to get their orders quickly). I will probably eventually give Culver's another chance. However, I don't think it will be anytime soon. read more

Used to love the food and service but they seem to have changed managers or something because lately the service is bad and the food inconsistent (we used to eat here weekly). Drove out to get the flavor of the day this past Saturday and the to go cooler was completely empty (there were 5 pints of flavors from several days ago and that is all). I went to the counter to order two pints of the flavor of the day and was told it would be a few minutes. We stood and waited fifteen minutes while the teenagers working (no adult managers in site) argued over who would make it because they had none of the flavor of the day made. It took another ten for them to manage to make the two pints so all in all it took me half an hour or so to get two pints of ice cream. I am sorry but if you have a huge electronic sign out front advertising a flavor, as well as email blasts and flyers, you should have the flavor. (I want to point out it was lunch time not five til close or anything like that.) I have had similar problems with the employees having inappropriate personal conversations while standing over the food window at both this location and Seminole. I emailed Culver's twice to ask about this and evidently Culver's does not care about the customer because no one has bothered to respond to my email or call me to follow up and I saw several people saying why does corporate not respond to customer service on the Facebook so this is evidently common practice for them. I didn't bother with the manager in store because he waited on me a few days previous and shockingly he did not speak the entire time, he just grunted affirmations at my order, shoved my food at me and said thanks so I didn't think it was worth wasting my time on him. I will probably get stuck eating here again because the kids love it but I hate paying for such bad service, especially now that I know how corporate really feels about the customers (that is to say they don't notice or care about you). read more

All hope is lost! After my first two visits I swore that I would never return again. But my wife loves crinkle fries and wanted to try again. I decided to go in and order from the counter. When I entered, there was a lot of unhappy customers at the counter. Being the people-watcher that I am I observed customers interacting with the owner of the store trying to sort out their order mess. Unfortunately the owner was not able to please any of the customers and refunded their order. When the time for me to order, I stepped up and placed my order, paid and got my receipt and plastic number. I stepped aside and began to wait for my order. As I was waiting the owner saw me and asked if I was ok and being taken care of. I told him that I just ordered and was waiting for my order. He asked me if the crew had informed me that it would be 40 minutes? I laughed and said NO. So, he grabs my receipt and said LET ME GET YOU A REFUND. As he is doing this, he is also telling all the crew to move away from the registers and telling new customers that they are closed ,(it's 7:30 at night folks). I am thinking that I am getting a free meal, but he hands me my refund receipt and informs me that I won't be getting any food. There were 10 of us that went to Culver's in Largo for my son's birthday. We are from Wisconsin and have had Culver's many times and wondered if this Culvers would stack up. When we arrived it was BUSY. The place was packed, several people at the registers and hardley any tables were open. But the outside tables were completely open so we sat outside which was lovely. Our 2 families ordered and both order takers were pleasant and really seemed to care about our order. We even saw one of the owners helping behind the counter and she was kind and welcoming. All of our food came out hot, fresh, and just as we ordered. Someone in our group wanted butter and the person who brought our food said he would bring the butter right away. We went back to order custard and the experience was the same. Super busy but the cashier was friendly and our order was delivered just right. The fried cheese curds were heaven!! Everything was so good. And you could tell the entire staff was working hard to ensure a good time was had by all. I would highly recommend this Culver's. And we will be back often!! read more
