I really love this cozy little patisserie/bakery - both for take-home shopping and a pleasant sit down over a cup of tea or hot chocolate.
It's products are always honest and well made - if you buy a traditional Czech pie (pie = 'koláč', or as some Americans know it, 'kolach' :)), you better expect it to be deliciously full of the curd cheese/poppy seed mixture/plum butter/or whatever filling you choose.
Unfortunately, so many higher end patisseries focus on cakes and deserts and completely leave these typical Czech pastries out of their assortment, and other lower end bakeries often sell shoddily made, dry and sorry versions of the pies. So if you want to try some really traditional good old Czech pastries, you can do so here - conveniently right in the center, near A line Mustek station (and on the way from there to Narodni Trida). I particularly recommend the round pies (kolace) and the crescent moon shaped rolls ('rohlicky') which come with multiple traditional fillings.
The interior of this place is not particularly fancy, but that's the beauty of it - I love sitting down in the small back room with walls built of logs. As you are having your (deliciously thick) hot chocolate and pie, the surrounding logged walls and plants give a really nice relaxing vibe and make you forget that you are near one of the busiest streets in this city.
I usually just go to stock up on Czech pastries, so I haven't tried many cakes here, but I have never been disappointed. The prices are also very reasonable for this area. If you have a sweet tooth, do give this place a go :). read more
