Just getting through the paperwork took an exceptional amount of time due to how slowly she typed. The trailer I rented wasn't connected to the U-Haul truck; when I asked her about that she said that I would have to "figure it out" because she knew "nothing about how that works." They park their vehicles in a sandy lot next to the building, so my truck was stuck in the sand. It had to be winched out, no thanks to the people at the store. I strongly recommend you avoid this place and stick to a more reputable, U-Haul brand location.

I had planned on moving my stuff out the following month, and I went to my unit on a Sunday night to find out that the roof was leaking. We had experienced heavy rain over the weekend, and quite a few of my boxes/belongings were covered in water. I spent the next several hours drying off my stuff and then moving it out of Island Storage and into my garage. I went into Island Storage the next week to tell them of the leak and asked that they pro-rate me for the month since I was moving my stuff out and since the ceiling in my unit leaked water. They wouldn't pro-rate me as I paid for the month up front, which was disappointing. Until that point, my interactions with them had been positive, but I really feel that I shouldn't have to pay for a storage unit that was damaging (and not preserving) my belongings, and it's unfortunate that they value half a month's rent over quality and image.

If people would take care of the equipment as if it was their own, it would be beneficial to the tenants.

They completely removed the roof of my storage unit and debris including sheet metal scraps, screws, dirt, and bird droppings all fell into my unit. My motorcycle was completely covered and a sheet metal screw is now lodged in my tire. Another note, if you move out early they will not pro rate a refund. They will give you nothing.

The staff are always rude and unpleasant to deal with. I have asked too talk with a manger and was told the manager doesn't have time for his/her customers... Lost my contract and asked for a new copy... They couldn't find mine, but showed me another customers with all of their personal information on it and said this is what yours looks like, too... Uh.. What? Horrible horrible horrible.. You should never share someone's personal information!
