What I realized was the owners care more about the money they receive versus truly caring about the children and how equipped their staff is. They are fine as long as you don't have any issues. For example, if you question them they don't have clear answers which is unacceptable. Most of their teaching staff (primarily for the 3 year old class) is not up to standards. Sure they may have certain certifications, but what does that really mean when the teachers aren't professional, are very disrespectful and don't listen to parent input. The staff is a direct reflection of the very unprofessional owner. They appear to care, but are actually jokes! As long as you don't question their motives and go along with the program, you might be OK. But when it comes to your child, you should never let anyone give you half information and spoon feed you what they want to. I have witnessed several children walking around with running noses, wiping their noses with the backs of their hands (or licking it) and the staff not responding until someone else says something. Be prepared for a lot of days taking off work to care for your sick child...you'll basically be paying them for your child to get sick. The other turnoff about this place is the 'mandatory' fundraiser fee. Sure, most schools have fundraisers, but at this place, if you don't participate, they automatically add the $100 fee to your child's account. Ridiculous! As a parent you should be able to choose what you want to participate in. And then these money leeches will call you if you don't pay up. The only reason I know this is, one year we paid the $100 fee and they hadn't updated their records. When the office staff called (and before I informed her we paid well in advance), she said they will start imposing a late fee on the $100! If you have any sense, you'd steer very clear of this place unless you don't have any other options - and even in that case, find yourself another option!

I am so happy we found this place. The teachers truly care about my little girl and everyone knows her name. They have an awesome food program. I love the front area where the children can play and get gross motor time in during nice weather. It is very secure. I know my child is learning because she comes home with new vocabulary and letter/number knowledge daily! The out-of-pocket costs for families on CCAP are especially unreasonable considering the lack of flexibility and limited services offered. Parents deserve transparency, respect, and support--not unexpected fees and controlling policies. Please do your research before enrolling.

The staff treat all the kids and parents like family. They strive to provide a solid fundamental education (including homework help afterschool) as well as fun activities through out the year. They have terrific hours for working parents and we love the open door policy so I can stop in anytime. My daughter started there at 3 months in the baby class, and progressed through 3 rooms, to the 2 year classroom. Ms. Kenecia, Ms. Jackie, Amr, Ms Gladys, and Ms.Charlotte who care for babies up to 2 years are all fantastic. Loving, attentive, caring and communicative. We never had an issue until we arrived at the 2 year old classroom, and experienced two instances of neglect and verbal abuse of our daughter. We addressed the first incident with the director, and a teacher was moved out of the room. Then, we continued to see new teachers in our kids classroom and they'd never introduce themselves and we were never notified. Multiple parents voiced concerns, we started to have teacher bios printed on the doors, but those would not cover the revolving door of additional teachers we'd see every week. Some days we'd drop our daughter off and there was 2 teachers for multiple classrooms at 830a, nearly an hour after they opened. The last straw was another parent alerting us to a teacher yelling at our child outside and telling her to "shut up" and "stop crying" and that "she was the problem." She's 2 years old! We, along with many parents, reached out to the director following this and though she verbally communicated her apology, she did not speak to either the teacher who yelled at my daughter nor the teacher that was present. We've reached out to the regional manager to also voice our concerns but made the decision to pull our daughter out of the school because at this point we are concerned for her wellbeing. Parents beware.

The teachers are great about sending videos and pictures throughout the day so you can track how your child is doing. They have made some recent upgrades to the space, including a nice large indoor play space and a new library. And I think they take kids outside every day if the weather permits. In terms of price, D2D is comparable to similar child care centers in the area. And the peace of mind you get from knowing that your babies are being taken care of is priceless.

The staff members are exceptional: they work seamlessly as a team to fill in gaps or shift around as needed. The director's door was open more often than not and I would see the Director and Assistant Director in the classrooms themselves as well. The director would often open the door for me as I struggled in with my entourage and clunky car seats. She would always reach out to me directly and consistently with billing issues, which was so very helpful as my girls' stipend was paid by DCFS and they NEVER forewarned me of issues or got back to me in a timely manner, so if it wasn't for the Director: my girls would have risked losing their spots due to non-payment. In our 18 months there so far, the 4 core teachers (from the rooms that have 0-18 mos) have remained the same. The turnover is not all bad and in my opinion I would rather have able, willing, and safe staff members there than someone who isn't doing or doesn't want to do the job! And we never lost our "Core Four" so my girls' attachment was not affected. They are extremely good at allowing EI services to be provided and for the child to removed for part of the day every week to attend a DCFS visit. It's not easy to deal with traumatized children and I feel the staff went above and beyond to show my girls they were safe, loved, and cared for. They always provided my little one with plenty of food: I can tell you confidently food is not used as a reward or punishment there: which is a big deal for me and my parenting methods! In fact, they have crackers and fresh fruit for anyone to have in their lobby. My toddler often takes 2 packages of crackers every morning and afternoon whether she eats them or not (I think it's more for comfort and control honestly): it's never been a problem. They provide lots of activities and fun little events for parents to attend! I love that kind of stuff. Finally, they are extremely sensitive and caring to home crises. My girls had a brother who was medically fragile and stayed home with a nurse in lieu of daycare due to his needs. He also went through a series of emergencies in which we were scrambling to function. Everyone was understanding and compassionate during that tumultuous time when we were under-prepared, sleep deprived, and inconsistent. My sweet boy did pass away from his conditions. Within a few days, a package was shipped to our home: signed by our KinderCare family. They gifted us a Seeds of Life memorial tree kit to plant in his honor. It thrives to this day. 18 months ago I was really nervous because KinderCare company tends to have a not so stellar reputation. Wheaton branch is definitely the exception. They really are something special.

They write a comment on every daily sheet with what my baby enjoyed. Miss Alyssa the director has been so helpful with my numerous phone calls to check up on my daughter (most places would think I am completely insane or mentally unstable). When you have a question when you pick up your child Miss Alyssa is never too busy to come and answer all your questions! My daughter has been here for almost 4 weeks and never had dirty diaper when I came to pick her up and is always fed and smiling (she will let you know if she needs a clean diaper or is hungry). I highly recommend this KinderCare with the amazing woman who are staffed here.

I was very skeptical and leery of placing my child in another center, considering all the horrible stories you hear about daycare centers and employees; but I wanted to get him somewhere close to home. I am glad I researched and trusted God, as well as the instincts of my 15 month old, who is very hard to please and doesn't take well to everybody. I am beyond pleased and happy with my decision to place him here. He comes home clean, as if I just put on his clothes for the day, I rarely see a spot on him and we have been here since the week of Thanksgiving. He is happy to come and waves bye to everyone when we are leaving. We come from a daycare where I was able to watch him daily throughout the day. It was a very technologically advanced daycare, where he learned baby sign and so many other wonderful things, so you can imagine my hesitance when I needed to cut my daily commute down. Overall, I am beyond happy with Successful Beginnings Learning Center. I love the homework that he has, although it is only coloring. He knows what it is that he is coloring and he is happy to learn.
