The Western Avenue station is my favorite because it is on a boulevard and that's a pretty tough location to beat! This station seems to get quite a bit of light on sunnier days. I think it has a more comfortable feel to it than the Kedzie and Ashland stations. Those stations feel "tucked away" to me - - and not in a cozy-feel type of way. This station has the usual escalator/stairways along with an elevator. I deducted a star because that elevator was out - of - order for about a month last year. Also, it was out another time and no one bothered to put a sign on the platform elevator door--wasted minutes waiting for an elevator that was not working! I have since found out that you can sign up for alerts regarding the elevators--it's nice to know in advance if they aren't working. The first couple of times that I added money to my CTA card on the Ventra vending machines, I asked the CTA attendants for assistance. Both times they were very kind and did not make me feel like I was bothering them. Sometimes people in this sort of job can do that! Luckily, not the case here. They were pleasant, helpful and willing to assist. There is a Dunkin Donuts in this station, which could be a plus, however, according to the current reviews on this DD Yelp business page, it could also be a disappointment. There are connections to four bus routes at this station : #35 (31st/35th Street), #39 (Pershing Road), #50 (Damen Avenue) and #62 (Archer Avenue). The CTA lady behind the glass literally screams telling her to call the number on the back. The CTA personnel proceeds to say her job is to monitor the station, not answer questions. The worker looks at me and begins to ask, why am I standing there and not helping my friend. I told the worker if she can calm down and be professional. I must have said something wrong because she slammed the glass and started pouting in her chair like a child. The second incident occurred when I was running late to my doctors appointment and I was stopped by a CTA worker. I scanned my card and ran through the turnstiles to catch my train that was arriving at the station. The worker came out from the booth to stop me from going up the escalator. He claims to have seen me use a "stolen" card and wanted to search me. I told him that I did not have time for this. As I continued to walk past him, he called for backup. After waiting 45 minutes for CTA security to come and do a search, I was on my way. Thanks CTA! I over pay for 30 minute waits for buses, poor customer service, and illegal searches.

In a combination of unlucky events leading to my phone getting stolen, the perp was never found. Took the police an hour and a half to get there, even if they took 15 minutes he would've still been in the area, but AN HOUR AND A HALF? A year later still no resolution. Random delays, cleaner used on trains smells like puke, doors stop working causing the CTA personnel to have to pry them open, at least there's not many homeless people on this line panhandling. No wonder you see everyone with glazed over eyes on the train, not bothering to pay attention to anything. They're used to this incompetent madness as if they're POWs.

West loop... Another…read moregreat station in west side loop what's great with this rail system or this particular "loop" ride is that it really reminds me of Japan as they announce the upcoming station along with transfer with digital displays as well of the next stop date and time. I could tell you this is because of the Fulton Market area, but I believe such places ought to be judged by their own merits, rather than the area where they find themselves. Morgan is a modern station. While not a work of art, per se, the tasteful use of stainless steel with some design elements gives it a more pleasant look than the old, worn, vanilla found in other 'L' stations. (Let's put aside for now those with old charm.) Morgan is also clean, well-lit, easy to navigate, fully accessible, and wider than average. These features aren't necessarily rare, but a station is better when they're present. Ample signage, too! Finally, seating here is limited, but this is typical of almost all stations, and while I think I know the reasons, this is not the forum to discuss them. Thus, Morgan earns a spot among the better of CTA stations, with standouts being its modern design, cleanliness, and accessibility.

I used to take the train very often years ago and was quite familiar with the station back then. This time, however, if I hadn't been with my husband, who acted as my guide, I definitely would have been quite lost! I'll definitely do a little more homework before my next visit. When we passed through the Great Hall, I was still in awe, admiring the intricate details of this iconic Chicago landmark. The Great Hall features a 219-foot-long barrel-vaulted skylight that soars 115 feet above the ground. My advice to out-of-town travelers: allow at least 10 minutes while you're in the station to stop and take in the elaborate details of this historic landmark, built in the Beaux-Arts style. The stunning Great Hall was recently restored to its original 1925 glory and is truly worth a look. I also recommend taking time to admire some of the station's original elements that remain today, including the long oak benches, beautiful light fixtures, and chandeliers. One funny memory from decades ago: I used to sit on those oak benches in the Great Hall waiting for my train, and the announcements were always so muffled that I could never figure out what they were saying! This time around, I could actually hear the announcements quite clearly. Chicago Union Station handles approximately 120,000 passengers daily. This makes it the third busiest rail terminal in the United States, serving both Amtrak and Metra passengers. It's an important part of Chicago's history and a remarkable transportation hub. That's quite impressive!

The station itself is really nice inside, featuring stunning architecture and a grand atmosphere that makes the beginning of a trip feel special. We arrived at the station around 8:15pm for our 9:30pm train to New York, and the entire experience from start to finish was seamless. The staff are super friendly right from the start, and upon entry, they provide you with a bracelet to easily identify lounge guests. The lounge amenities are top-notch. They offered fresh fruit, a variety of individual snacks with helpful gluten-free labeling for dietary restrictions, a full coffee station, and a soda machine. Best of all, instead of having to watch the departure boards anxiously, the staff make an announcement when it's time to board and personally guide and escort you directly to your train. With their expert guidance, boarding was completely stress-free.
