And after all is said and done, he refuses to give you a receipt for your cash. The lease itself is the receipt. It had a regular white copy on top and the customers yellow copy on the bottom. Before I began looking, I asked him what the prices for chains started at so I had an idea of the price point, he evaded the question and just asked what I was looking to spend. When I finally got the starting price point, he allowed me look at a few chains. As I looked, he said that the price of gold had just gone up and if I decided to leave without the chain, he was going to change the price as soon as I left the store. There was a ton of pressure to buy, he even joked around and said, "the door is locked" I'm not letting you leave, we both laughed. The sales pressure was a red flag but against my better judgement , I did end up purchasing a chain and bracelet, totaling $3,200. The chain I purchased was 14k gold, weighing 17.2 g. Another jeweler had a 14k, 8.7 g chain for $1800. My chain alone was $2800. So as it turns out, the joke was on me because just a few days later I found out that he over charged me by more than a thousand dollars. When I called him with my concern, he told me that it was a final sale, - even though he made it clear that he was going to increase the price on the chain as soon as I left. I purchased Monday, wanted to return 4 days later and was told it wasn't an option. Complaints filed with Yelp and BBB. Charge dispute has also been initiated.

However, one of their services listed they offer are appraisals, which I would not use them for. I walked in with some odd ends from my jewelry box that I didn't want to just throw away, but I also knew weren't worth much. I figured combined, I could melt the pieces down and make something small and new. Unfortunately, it was a bit of an embarrassing and insulting 5 minutes, which is probably even more time than he actually spent with us. He moved through them so quickly he noted two pieces were silver and nothing more, I had them reappraised knowing they were both white gold and did get confirmation that they were in fact white gold, not silver. While I'm not disappointed by the response that the pieces weren't worth much, something I already knew, I again was hoping I could scrap them and reuse the white gold (he called silver), diamond and blue topaz stones potentially, even if they were worth less than $100, thats mine to decide how to use. But because it wouldn't equate to enough to make something he thought was worth his time, he said hold on to them you can't reuse them. Had he given me more time than he did, I would have added that I was going to pay to have something remade, and given him more business, like I had in the past. I just wanted to use the old stone and metal some how if I could toward a new piece, not expecting that scrap metal to cover the cost by any means. However, when I was treated in a way that felt embarrassing, I didn't want to give them my business anymore. You can be honest and not be insulting, you also could attempt to do an appraisal with dignity and respect toward the customer.

The salesman honestly discouraged us from getting a repair, and made an attractive offer on a new watch, however my wife felt the watch was precious to her and sought to have it repaired. After a couple of weeks, the store manager contacted her to tell her their jeweler had told him the watch wasn't worth repairing. She asked him to try again. He sent it to another jeweler, who told him he couldn't get parts for it. Although she is disappointed with the verdict of the jewelers who worked on her watch, we are both convinced that Pearson's gave her request serious effort and she is now satisfied that she cannot have a precious gift repaired. While she's sad, she is satisfied that every effort was made. We can't ask for more. The watches and jewelry in this shop were high quality fine work.
