You are literally situated less than a mile from my childhood home, which makes this like some cruel joke. That said, you're the best indoor soccer facility in the Twin Cities (and I've played at them all). You give folks the opportunity to play indoor or outdoor, single sex or co-ed and on various levels from beginner to competitive. Your refs (especially Forrester and TJ) are the kind of caliber you don't typically get in rec leagues, which is as valuable as the convenient location and above-average facility, in my opinion. If you like old-school boards, they've got 2 of those. Gone is the Astroturf of yesterday. You can even play in your regular cleats on this pitch. Same goes for the indoor/outdoor field (domed from October-May). You'll never play on regular grass again. As loyal Burnsville-ite (Burnsvillian?) you give people a reason besides Buck Hill to come south of the river. Go Beaver Fever! Love, Holly

I have been to Soccer Blast more times than I can count as my daughter has played soccer in Minnesota from the time she was six years old--she is 23 and still plays...so I have spent many an hour on the bleachers at Soccer Blast during the winter on Saturdays and Sundays...I am thankful that places like this exist and indoor soccer is a whole different game than full field outdoor but it really gives kids a chance to work on foot skills and passing..

There is an assessment online based on your experience and with that they put you into a level. You then go online and you will only see games that you are eligible to play in. You then sign-up for a date, time, and location within the Twin Cities to play hockey. It caps out so only two goalies (who play for free) and I believe 20 skaters, including the captain. The captain brings the pucks and is there to ensure nobody breaks the rules, switch up the teams if they are unfair, and talk to the league if they feel a player should move up or down levels. Bring jerseys of a dark and a light color so you can wear similar colors so you know who is on whose team. There are games for just those of the same level. In those games after warmup time the sticks go in the middle and the captain just picks up a stick and pushes it to one side or the other and goes until all sticks are split and teams are formed. You the put on the jersey color you are assigned (dark or light). Games that have multiple level players are called community games and the computer draws up teams to even out the teams with similar make up of different level players. The teams will be announced typically in the locker rooms as you suit up and you out on your jersey colors. You get to know people and develop friendships. I've played with many of the same people at the same rink on the same day with a dinner run afterwards as the bonds developed. The website offers different events as well such as classes or tournaments. Note: during fall/winter the game times are generally later as priority goes to local schools or leagues and that ice costs more. The times are earlier/decent during spring/summer.

They travel to highly visible tournaments which provides a great platform for college recruiting. When summer teams were being finalized this year, they started removing all summer information from their website; which I thought was strange. Come to find out, they had recruited players from other academy's and programs (perhaps based on showcase data); almost all recruited players have never trained at Starters Sports. Personally, I think its deceptive to sell your training facility partly based on these travel teams; then turn around and recruit outside the organization. When perspective families/players come in to talk with staff about joining Starters Sports, they are loured by the outstanding track record of these summer teams, the recruitment possibilities and the college placement/scholarships. These parents are NOT told that several players on the team are recruited to play and have NOT been personally trained by the staff at Starters. These summer teams post their lineups on twitter; its about a 50/50 mix of current players and outside recruits. If these teams were 100% current Starter's attendees (regardless of my son's status); I would not have written this review; nor have any problem with their selection process.

The highlight is the HITTRAX system they have installed - which is a video based batting cage simulator - we can't wait to try that out soon. The prices are among the best in the area for cage rentals and the online booking system is super convenient. Starters is a first class operation that is fitted for any baseball level from little league to amateur to professional. Highly reccommend.

People were very friendly and we were able to park close to the polo field which was great for taking photos of horses and riders. I like the parking lot also since it is not busy. Anyway a great little training place for kids. They also have 1st hockey here too.
