I love that the seating areas are elevated above the ice, there are really no bad seats for watching a youth hockey game. The locker rooms were clean and spacious, there is plenty of parking as well as nearby hotels and other tourist places if you are visiting for a tournament. This rink has a skate sharpener, small pro shop and a really nice concession stand. Mystic Casino is really close by, so if you are here for a tournament have a look around.

I arrived about 7 minutes early for class and the large gym space had about three people inside. The front desk was empty and there was no real way to know what to do to get checked in. I asked another person what I should do and she told me the instructor would be there any minute . A few more people came in right before class along with the instructor. The direction was to do the warm up. As someone new I expected a little bit of an overview and a warmer welcome. I introduced myself and said this is my first class so I don't know what to expect. The directions weren't much different than "warm up". I asked a few questions so I could understand the format of the class. Once I got this was strictly weight training with a circuit like format decided to just go with the flow. The workout itself was slow in the beginning, there was quite a bit of downtime and talking from other people in the class. While the workout was challenging I felt the directions and modeling were lacking. The gym itself was much like a large auxiliary gym and it appeared to be a shared space that isn't well managed because things were out of place, dusty, and someone else was trying to use the same equipment as the class during the class. Overall I think I got a good workout but there is some room for improvement to the space and operations.

They are EXTREMELY patient and will bend over backwards to work with you to get the right equipment and get it to fit. Their prices are competitive with other stores and the internet plus the added bonus of truly amazing service. Another huge benefit of going there is that if you buy skates there you get free sharpening for life. At the typical $5 a sharpening that is quite a benefit. And they do a really good job a sharpening skates. Excellent repair work too on equipment.

(Ok, I'm not a big beer drinker, but I fully support beer sales at any event. I just do. The rest of the concessions were just a bit above average in the pricey but tasty popcorn style) (I brought in my own water and snacks, they were checking bags but not closely.) But. BUT. This is one of the premier places to play volleyball in the Midwest, as well as hosting one of the…read moretop clubs. They recently took down the remaining indoor soccer field, so they now have 8 courts with a lot of room around each one! The ceilings are also much higher than most places. The floor has a very expensive wood and rubber-bumper type subfloor under the sport-court, which is much better for your knees and other joints. Other places have sport-court directly on concrete which is horrible to play on. The sport-court itself is starting to show its age though, with a lot of scuffing. It appears that they're building a new room for the concessions and vending, so anyone who had complaints might get a welcome surprise for next season. A number of different teams I've coached for have played in their tourneys and power leagues, and I've also played here as an adult in their Friday night open gym, which is fun, has a variety of skill levels, and stays open late at night now!
