This is almost like a living room restaurant, small and intimate. Across the street from, and with…read morea view of, the Loire river. The road in front can be busy so sitting outside you'd have to deal with the noise from the cars. We had Galettes, they serve vegetarian and vegan options as well as everything else. Everything is organic and regional. It tastes like home-cooked food and was quite delicious. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is that the quantity was not enough in my opinion for a meal. I did not want to pay another €15 for another galette, but in spite of having enjoyed the food greatly I was still hungry when I left. To give an idea: we paid €40 for two galettes and two drinks; it would have been € 30 or more for seconds.

Our family stopped for lunch after sight-seeing on Wednesday afternoon. The space is charming,…read moreevocative of a French country farmhouse and small with just a very few tables of various sizes. We came with various levels of French among us, and the staff were kind - welcoming and accommodating, and willing and able to assist in English, when needed. The menu consisted of all kinds of galletes and crêpes for all tastes -- from the usual complete or cheese and eggs to more elaborate house specialties containing chicken and seafood. There was also a "formule" of the day for those who want a full meal and wider range of items. We all ordered a gamut of their selections and were more than happy with all. I in particular wanted something on the lighter side -- so I was pleased to see a selection of salads served in a bowl lined with a delicious buckwheat gallette. The salad I chose ("salade des prés") was dotted with a creamy herb-laced cheese and contained lettuce, sliced pears and walnuts. It was light but satisfying. One of us chose the "basse cour" gallete which had chicken and seasonal vegetables served in a light herb-laced sauce. Flavors were clean and simple. Of course, there was a nice selection of local wines and Breton and Normandy ciders to complement the menu. We kept it simple for dessert --and ice cream sundae, one each of butter-sugar and chestnut cream crêpe sucrée. This seams to be a nice family-run place and it would be great to see them do well. Try it if you're biking or wandering in Montsoreau!

What a catastrophe! The Loire Valley is the birth place of French cuisine, and this place, which…read morehas been taken over and revamped by people who I believe think they can make money because they own a historic place is a disgrace.. I was born there, and none, I say none of the items on the menu, despite their Middle-Ages sounding names was done right! The work on the premises makes it look fake, the kitchen spits out of-the-microwave, mushy/gooey kind of bland feed. I wonder why so many local/regular looking people get their feed there... O tempora, o mores! Oh, I know, this was the only place open on Sunday... Go figure! ..Nobody is going to complain though, their web site does not allow any feedback.! Shame on you! ********************************************** We went back there, 4 of us, 2 years later, and it had become worse, to a point the owner got angry, got out from behind the bar and theatened to punch us, because after 30 mn wait we had decided to just leave out of despair we'd ever get presented with a menu, let alone food... The guy is a real lunatic...and wife in unison... We went to an excellent creperie next door, where the owner greated us with a smile, understanding we were survivors of a trip next door... Just other viciims... As of summer 2014 the place is still open, few customers though, to many daredevils... :). The next door Creperie is still there... hence you know where to go.

The restaurant is very quaint and historic, located on the city square in Saumur. The food and…read morewine were both very good and reasonably priced but the service was erratic. I would still go there again as long as I had at least 2 hours to eat.
