We moved out of our 35 year old house in November 2024. Our Realtor did not get the home on the…read moremarket until mid December, but she brought us a buyer in early January. However the inspection revealed that we had 2 broken seals in our 2 Master BR windows. Our realtor recommended Crystal Clear Window repair. Gerd meet me at the house at the agreed time to measure the windows and give me an estimate. He explained that although it was 2 windows it was actually 4 panes that needed replaced and the cost would be almost the same as getting new windows, but the repair would be quicker due to the shortage of new windows due the hurricanes. He estimated $1600 and he needed 1/2 the money up front in order to order the parts. I explained that I had sent my wife to the store with the credit card so I didn't know how I was going to pay him. Then he said he didn't take a credit card anyway, only cash or check. Well I did not have the check book. So we ended up getting my next door neighbor to try to reach my wife's friend who she had gone shopping with, but to no avail. So my neighbor ended up writing him a check for $800 and I had to return a few days later to pay her back. Then when Gerd came out to install the new windows, he brought his partner and started replacing the new windows out in the garage. While they were in the garage, I decided I wanted to clean the lower frames on the windows before they put the new window sashes back in the window tracks. Since we had vacated the house I did not have a rag to clean the frames, I ask Gerd if he had a rag in his truck. He answered me angerly "Why" like I was a child. I explained why and again in a nasty tone "Don't touch anything". So I just walked away. I really did not appreciate being spoken to in this tone in what was still my house. Then I went in the house and sat on the floor to wait on them to complete. When I did this I set off the car alarm in my car, as my car keys are very sensitive, and they will set off the alarm sometimes in my pocket Well when I went outside Gerd and his partner were outside taking a break, and Gerd said "you set off your car alarm, and it's a darn good thing we didn't have a piece of glass in our hands. you scared the crap out of us". Again, like he was talking to a child. Yes, they did nice work, but the general attitude toward the customer was disappointing to say the least.

Mike Schrett and his team installed 11 windows, including 3 in one opening, in a single day. The job also included replacing 7 exterior concrete window sills and 5 interior marble sills. The price I paid for the job was very fair and reasonable. The turnaround time from signing of the contract to scheduling the installation was slightly more than 11 weeks, primarily because the windows were custom made. Clearwater Window and Door, Inc demonstrated a truly commendable dedication to ensuring I was satisfied with the product and the installation. If you want high quality impact resistant windows, Clearwater Window and Door, Inc is the company to go to.
