Upon arriving to the salon, I was seated and the nail technician, Hailey, discussed with me what color I wanted my nails. I showed her a couple of reference photos of what I wanted, a neon set with holographic ombre. Hailey told me that she was not the best at ombre, but would ask the salon owner, Tina, if she could do the ombre portion of my nails. Tina came and looked at the photo and verified that she could do that part of the nails.
I have never been so happy with a set of nails before! Hailey did an incredible job. My nails were the perfect length, the colors were incredible, and the shape was exactly what I wanted. I generally do not like how salons do my nails and leave unsatisfied, however, Hailey was phenomenal!
When Hailey finished my set, she asked Tina to come do the ombre portion. Tina grabbed a chrome powder from the shelf and proceeded to smear it all over one of my fingers. There was a stark line between the powder and my nail color, not an ombre like I asked for. Tina declared that she could not do what I wanted. She wiped off the chrome powder and grabbed a chunky glitter polish.
As Tina was doing the "ombre" on my nails, there was still a stark line and the glitter was not ombred in the slightest. She ended up globbing the glitter polish on my nails so thickly that the shape of my nails was deformed and the edges of my nails were touching when I held my hand out. My nails had visible lumps in them from the literal mountain of polish on them. I told her that they were way too thick and chunky and I was not pleased with them. She said she would file it off and try again. While filing my nails, Tina was extremely rough and clipped my nailbeds, under the tip of my fingernails, and around the edges of my nails (I still have scabs a week later). On her second attempt, they were slightly less thick, but still looked absolutely horrendous. I told her again I was not happy with them at all. Tina's suggestion was that she wouldn't change me for the ombre... my response was that I did not like my nails at all. She then responded with she would just take it all off and that I could go elsewhere because they couldn't do what I wanted. I agreed for her to take the entire set off.
As I was soaking my nails, Tina went in the backroom of the salon and screamed at Hailey. Tina was telling Hailey that it was her fault my nails didn't turn out. After she finished yelling at Hailey, Hailey had to come out and finish removing her work from my nails. I apologized to Hailey and told her that by no means was I unhappy with her work, she did an incredible job and Tina is the one that ruined them. After some discussion while Hailey removed my nails, I asked her if I could book with her later on to get my nails redone exactly how she had done them earlier.
Later in the afternoon, I went back to the salon and Hailey redid my set. Again, she did an incredible job and my nails turned out nearly perfect. This time instead of asking for an ombre, Hailey and I decided to place a small gem at the base of each nail. Upon leaving the salon, Hailey clarified with Tina what she should charge me for the set. Tina decided to charge me full price, plus full price for the gems, in total my nails came to $67. Tina should have heavily discounted my set, I spent over four hours at the salon that day, had to have my nails done from scratch twice (because of Tina's error), and could not get done what I ultimately wanted.
If it was not for Hailey's excellent work, I would never come back to this salon. If my only interaction was with Tina, the owner of the business, I would not return. I booked another appointment with Hailey in the future, but I am truly on the fence if I want to support a business who is operated by someone who is rude not only to their customers, but also their staff. Overall, I do not recommend this salon or their sister store, VIP Nails, due to their poor management, horrible customer service (on the owner's behalf), and rudeness to their employees. read more
