I couldn't put my kayak in because of the Fire Dept drills that were going on but hope to do it next weekend. Middle Bolton is smaller than Lower but has less houses which makes it nice if you seek a serene spot to nature watch. The Lower and the Upper are both beautiful and a wonderful natural resource for water activities but note motor boats are limited in size so you won't be seeing any water skiing there, just fishing, sailing and kayaking...nice!

Once you cross the lake you can follow the small river up as far as the current depth will allow you. There is an abundance of wildlife as well as wild grapes which grow on along both sides of the stream. The scenery is absolutely beautiful any time of year but especially in the Fall. You can expect me to be harvesting some of those grapes for homemade jelly sometime in September too.

Gosh, where to begin? We were going to pass through CT to…read moremake it to PA to spend the night when our diesel truck started having serious problems. I quickly looked for a campground hoping they could take us, and that the truck could make it there. As we came limping in, Josh met us to help us quickly park. It soon became apparent, we were going to need a place to stay for several days. Doug, the owner, worked with us in every way, to ensure we were welcomed and would continue to have a place to stay while our truck was being taken for repairs. What a beautiful place to spend an unexpected week. The lake, hiking and amenities are amazing, but the best thing about Wilderness are the people! Saturday night Doug and his wife, Holly, hosted a gathering. We immediately felt right at home with so many friendly people, it was like a family gathering. We even won a gift card to a local restaurant!! We stayed for a week, and now we have a new favorite to add to our destinations! We really look forward to returning, only under better circumstances next time. Thank you Doug, Holly and Josh!!

The beach is always well maintained by onsite seasonal workers and raked nightly. The grills are emptied nightly and the grassy areas well maintained and mowed. The do have ports potties but no indoor bathrooms or changing areas so come dressed with bathing suits on or hold a blanket around you old school style lol This beach does not have lifeguards but they do offer free life jackets in varying sizes. Being new to the hobby of paddle boarding I was very intimated at first however after coming across…read moreValley paddle board, I decided to give it a shot. There were numerous packages available in the planning phase and I ultimately went with the 2 hour group paddle board session with instructor guidance and equipment rental. Not to mention included in the cost was a (2) drink voucher for refreshments at a local brewery post paddle board session (which was a welcomed bonus). The location Christine chose for this session was perfect especially for someone just starting off like myself. We started off in a small shallow beach just sitting on our boards and getting a feel for the water. With Christine's concise, easy to follow direction, I upgraded to a kneeled position and finally to a standing, balancing and confident position within a half a hour. When the sun started to go down Christine advised that the group paddle out to a small island in the middle of the lake that was full of wild flowers, to relax and enjoyed the rest of the sunset. At this time we well exceeded the 2 hour mark but Christine was happy to do so for a wonderful experience. Once the weather gets a bit warmer I will definitely be reaching out to Christine for another session!!
