i chose this hotel for the eve of the marine corps marathon, so that i could be close to the start line, and save myself time and stress from a long commute on race morning. since i booked this in january, the price was very reasonable, and plenty of rooms were still available. i was happy that they didn't have a 2 night minimum, since i planned to stay with my parents in maryland for the duration of my stay in the dc area. i had hoped to arrive sooner, but only arrived around 1630 on saturday afternoon, which meant that i'd be spending barely a half day before checking out and heading to the race. upon arrival, i saw many guests who were presumably running mcm the next morning...when you see folks decked out in the race gear, or running clothes and bags from other major races, it's a pretty safe bet that they're also there for the marathon. check-in was swift, and i took the elevator to my room...i don't even remember what room/floor i was in, since i never left that evening! i already had my dinner, warmed, compliments of dad, which i ate on the desk in my room. i had my portable breakfast ready to go. the mini fridge was super helpful for keeping my overnight oats fresh for race morning. there were 2 queen beds, but since i was alone, i used one bed to "stage" the race, lay out my clothes, shoes, accessories for race morning (lest i forget something!) and the other bed to sleep/relax. the bed was clean, warm, and very comfortable...very important for the night before one is about to run 26.2 miles! wifi was free, compliments of being a marriott bonvoy member, and i had no trouble connecting and binge watching netflix for a couple hours before i went to sleep. the bathroom was well appointed with toiletries, fresh, fluffy towels, and a shower with good water pressure. overall, the room was very quiet and i had no trouble falling asleep or staying asleep...although i did wake a few times, probably out of nervousness/excitement, for the pending race (very typical the night before a marathon for me!) the morning of, i quickly got dressed, packed, and headed to the lobby, where i was greeted by a sea of runners, all of whom were headed to the start line, just a couple miles away. i was able to leave my bags with the concierge, for pickup post-race, since i knew i wouldn't be able to make it back before official checkout time. fast forward about 10 hrs, i was back at the hotel, picked up my belongings, and on my way back to my parents' place in maryland. it was a very short stay, about 13 hrs, but i appreciated having the convenience of this hotel and only riding the metro 2 stops to the start line of mcm. i would highly recommend staying here if you plan to run the marine corps marathon in the future! read more

I was on the second floor right by the elevators and never heard outside noise, plus the way the room was setup is was a good size 3. Shower was easy to turn off and did not require you to walk into it and start it up. 4. It was clean, but I wouldn't touch that phone and who uses the 1999 phone anyway? Minuses 1. High speed net stinks. I'm gold so it's free but in the late evening it was a slug. Since I never use the in room tv, streaming on your tablet or smartphone was a mixed bag 2. Desk connections such as having a USB on the top didn't exist. But a plug in was available. In the wall. They call it an outlet. 3. There is no in room dining way ie no qr code, no way to order in the Marriott app even though they say they have in room. In fact just seeing a PDF for any of eatieres in the Crystal you can't see. But feel free to find it on the net, which I did but is not doable ie seeing it on the crystal Marriott Web site. 4. No hand sanitizer, anywhere. You want it? Buy one. 5. Feel free to leave a tip for your housekeeper which I wanted to so but the way to do it is not simple. Scan QR code - easy. Pick tip option they give you three options 5,10,20 or custom. Now enter your CC info. Better way? Just charge it to the room or mention you can leave cash. read more

Stayed here overnight for a work event. Parking can get pricey and there are plenty of garages for cheaper so that's worth looking into. We booked a single king room on the 15th floor. Fairly clean and specious. Room had a great view but the bed was a little too soft/springy for me. The ballroom where the party was pretty large and separated from the other rooms. The food was decent, about what's expected for hotel catering food. Good hotel, decent party venue. Definitely a good stay if you need one in Crystal City. read more

Absolutely love this hotel as a layover! It's in a great location, near shops, food, and the train. The rooms are spacious and lovely, and you don't hear any noise. The concierge is very accommodating, explaining all the amenities to you, and providing you with directions to popular locations as well as explaining the access you have in the hotel. While the gym could be a little larger, it does offer several peloton bikes, a few treadmills, several free weights and kettlebells, and one stairmaster. It's located on the first floor, above the bar/restaurant, so the hallways can be noisy and crowded. The M lounge is my favorite perk, with drinks and snacks available throughout the day, and hors d'oeuvres served in the evening (tonight was chocolate cake, various cookies, and fruits). This is my go to hotel when I visit our headquarters offices since it's within a quick 5-10 mins walking distance. The hotel itself is nicely decorated with very friendly and helpful staff. I love the M Lounge since it has a fancy gourmet coffee machine that serves very good mocha lattes. Also the included breakfast if u have M Lounge entry is well worth going. They serve custom ordered omelets, a variety of ready made breakfast food, cereal, waffles, and best of all their oatmeal seems like they cook it overnight since it's nice and soft. Their fitness center has a variety of equipment plus free weights and fresh towels. We get discounted pricing and work pays for my stays here but in general pricing isn't bad. I enjoyed my stay, from checkin to checkout. I recommend this hotel for sure. This is the only hotel that has ever made me appreciate my elite status. I enjoyed complimentary breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I also appreciated having water and soda, if desired. The connection to the metro was also a bonus. I did not have a to walk outside in the cold to commute to and from the metro. I will return again soon. Plus, the central location is convenient. This hotel is surrounded by several restaurants, shops, and the mall. Plus, the ambience is beautiful. I slept comfortably in my bed, and the noise level was not bothersome. Check it out! read more

Good hotel for our stay - convenient to the metro with helpful staff. Our toilet ran continuously all night which wasn't ideal, but we were able to fix the flapper so we could get good sleep. Our room was 420, so unsurprisingly the room sign had been stolen. All in all would stay here again! read more

Crystal Gateway Marriott - Birthday cake delivery - Hotels Near Me - Arlington, Virginia

I stayed here for a few days in February for a company meeting. Definitely some good things, but also some things that need some improvement. Check-in/check-out was very smooth, and the few times I had to interact with the hotel staff, there was nothing but smiles and a feeling like I was the most important person in the hotel at that time. Customer service was hands down, second-to-none. This includes my reporting a leak under the toilet at the shut-off valve. It was quickly and competently addressed, with no further issues. I had a double room up on the 16th floor of the Arlington Tower. It was *almost* spotless, with only a broken zip-tie on the floor near the door, and there were a couple strands of stray long hair in the shower. Otherwise, I was pleased with the cleanliness of the room, and there were no strong smells/odors, good or bad. Plenty of hot water was available. I never ran out in the shower. And it got there fast, with no pressure fluctuations either. The HVAC had my favorite "always on" setting, which while not super loud, was sufficient to help drown out any stray noises. Of which, there weren't many. Yes, I could hear the volleyball kids from time to time in the hallway, but that wasn't very often. Yes, you could hear the occasional siren in the street below, but hey, it's Arlington. That happens. (And there was a double-shooting at the apartments across the street while I was there, too! No, I never felt it was a safety issue for us in the hotel.) The pillows on the bed were a little more on the softer side, but certainly not as soft as I've had at hotels in other stays. And there were plenty of hangars for my clothes, something which can be an annoyance at times. The conference areas were clean, organized, and well-kept. The little "convenience" shop next to the front desk had a lot of items, but they were out of toothpaste (which I had forgotten). No problem! The front desk staff went to the back and gave me some toothpaste, gratis. Very nice touch. However, if you do get something to eat there, it's going to be pricey. A Drumstick was calling me one night, and that was $7. The hotel is connected to the Crystal City Underground. Back in "the day" that meant a lot. Now... not so much. It means you can get to the Metro system easily, which also means easy transport to the airport. But CCU is only a very empty shell of what it used to be. It is a ghost town. From the hotel, you can find a Subway Sandwich Shop, a Sushi Shop, a Nail Salon, and a couple of other places. More on that later. OK, now for the not so nice... In the Arlington Tower, one of the 3 elevators was out of service the entire time I was there. Two elevators during a busy time doesn't provide a decent level of service. This led to some occasional longer waits for a car. Several of the buildings escalators were out of service as well. I can walk, no problem there, but there were others that were forced to wait for elevators because they couldn't or wouldn't use the steps or the broken escalators. Things seemed kind of "dark" in the common areas. Like they needed to install brighter lights, or turn up the ones that are there. The restaurant in the lobby (15 & Eads, I believe it's called) is convenient, but be prepared to spend some money. A salad ran me $16, and a flatbread pizza (think something a little bit bigger than a Stouffer's French Bread Pizza, but with a flat crust) ran $15. And, I had an Old Fashioned that was probably the most expensive mixed drink I'd ever had. I remember joking with the person I was sitting with that for about $5 more, I could have bought an entire bottle of Old Grand-dad! :-) The internet is only free if you are a Bonvoy member. Look, this is 25 years into the 21st Century. A hotel like this not offering free internet for every guest? Maybe I'm missing something, but that seems a bit on the chintzy side. OK, let's talk CCU, and this is NOT a knock on the hotel; this does not at all factor into my rating. Back in the day, there were lots of shops, eateries, a theater... lots of places to go. It's all gone with the exception of what I listed above. Any map you find will likely show the hotel's section of the CCU connecting to the section near the eateries around 21st Street. This is wrong. The section of the CCU that runs under 20th St is closed off. You'll have to go outside for a little bit to pick up the underground again. See the map I uploaded to this review; the purple highlighted area is closed off. The red arrow, upper right, points to this hotel. Overall, the stay was pleasant enough. You're in the middle of "the action" in Crystal City, and you're very close to the airport. I honestly had few complaints overall, but I feel like, for the money, the value wasn't totally there. Fantastic hotel, and not to be confused with the other Marriott a few blocks away (it's confusing)! I lived a block away for 5 years, and needed to spend a night in the neighborhood last week. Choosing this one was the obvious choice, and it was 5 Stars all around: Ana at the front desk checked me in, she is so sweet and funny, my room (718) was spotless, the bed was wonderful and the water pressure/hot water made for an amazing shower. My friend and I had a drink at the 15th & Eads bar at the end of the night, the bartender was nice and that drink was strong. Fantastic location for anyone taking the Metro, there is direct access into the tunnel to the Metro entrance, you don't even need to go outside. read more

I attended a conference from October 13-15, 2025, and parked my own car in the garage on the first day. However, I was mistakenly charged twice for valet parking--a total duplicate charge. I discovered the error on my second day after reviewing my bank statement. Since I was not staying on the property, the front desk directed me to the valet booth. I spoke with Nate, who was very courteous and helpful. After I explained the issue, he mentioned that he needed to wait for his manager to arrive. I checked in with him several times throughout the day, but he remained the only attendant on duty. Later, he was advised to verify the last four digits of the charged card, and together we reviewed the POS system, which clearly showed a duplicate transaction. Nate assured me that the charge would be corrected. As of October 17, the charge still had not been reversed. I called the hotel and explained the situation to the front desk, who transferred me to valet--only for the call to disconnect abruptly. I tried calling back several times, but no one answered, and the calls were automatically redirected to Marriott Reservations. I then had to explain the entire issue again, and while the reservations team kindly created a case, this really shouldn't be their responsibility. This process has been extremely frustrating for what should be a simple $39 refund. I just want the duplicate valet charge reversed and the matter resolved promptly. Is it difficult? read more

I stayed at the Crystal Gateway Marriott back in December due to having to attend an industry meeting representing the company I work for. It was a large get together. The hotel staff did admirably with the conference rooms, cocktail party and breakfast. The hotel itself was pleasant to stay in. The room was well furnished and comfortable. Stayed here for 4 nights on a work trip since it was in close proximity to my office, but wouldn't choose to stay here otherwise. The Marriott is definitely dated and my room literally didn't have heat, which was insane. I called maintenance and they told me they don't turn the boilers on until the weather gets cooler so the only option for me not to freeze to death was for them to bring me a space heater. No joke. Anyway, it's connected to Crystal Office buildings via an underground walkway and there's a plethora of shops and dining nearby, along with a metro stop, so at least it's in a convenient area. read more

Shower does not work properly and is not fixed fully by evening despite reminder in morning to fix it. Costed me a whole day of the offsite and impacted my mood and wellbeing and made me feel horrible throughout the day. I do not recommend this hotel due to its shitty apparatus in the bathroom. Food is extremely pricey in the bar and soup is almost lacking all its luster due to being reheated multiple times or being on heat for a long time. Has that weird taste. Long wait at front desk is a given. No water tap near ice dispenser so you have to go to fitness center to fill your bottle. The treadmill in fitness center that I worked out on yesterday jumped from 3 mph to 6 mph all of a sudden and I had to hit stop to save myself. Be prepared to not be able to shower in the morning if you are staying here. Or fight the system at night itself so no delays in morning. Also enjoy tap going on 50% in tub while you barely manage with a very weak shower head dispensing the other 50%. read more

This is just an amazing hotel and makes it very easy to start off with five stars. From the second we walked into the extremely clean and comfortable hotel we knew that this was the perfect spot for us. We were here with 14 friends. We were part of the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation walk from DC to NY. We were only doing the first 12 miles. We took the metro here from the airport and the ride could not have been more than 10 minutes. This hotel is located just a few blocks from multiple restaurants, nightlife, and a very vibrant city. It has a direct connection to the Metro which makes it very convenient. The hotel was large and very modern with an incredible team here. Our big-spacious room was bright and very comfortable. The thermostatic all worked perfectly to keep a very comfortable temperature. Plenty to watch on TV during relaxing time of which there was just not enough. Kudos to the Marriott Hotel and their great team for a comfortable stay in your beautiful city read more

For those traveling by public transportation, public transit is very accessible at this Marriott. This area is very commuter-friendly, not only with the accessibility but also with there being a Commuter Store once you go down the hall with the shops (looks like the store provides maps) - this hall is just to the left of the front desk / lobby. There are several different types of shops/stores down the hall by the lobby, including stores/shops that sell/service: - Bubble tea - Nails - Artwork - Party supplies - Jewelry - Clothing These shops close at 6 pm. The lobby is nice. I was a little disappointed that the dispenser in the lobby was out of warm apple cider when I tried to get some, but I like that these drinks are offered to guests. The halls to the guest rooms are on the dimmer side, and the rooms look a bit dated (rug floors, versus hardwood). I did not use the gym, but I quickly went to check it out on the first floor. You need key access to enter the gym, and I was silly to not bring mine (you don't need it for the elevator, as you do at some hotels). It appears to have the basics (treadmill, elliptical, maybe free weights - I didn't get a full view from outside the entrance). Overall, this hotel seems to be decent for those looking to spend time shopping and exploring the DC area. There are some corporate buildings in the vicinity as well. read more

I came here with my husband for two nights. When we arrived, the lobby was big and smelled lovely and clean. We walked up to the front desk, and we were greated by a friendly member of staff. Check in was smooth, and he offered us some bottled water. We also opted for late check out at 4pm. We took the elevator up to our room, no room key needed for the elevator. The halls are clean, and well kept. We were upgraded to a Junior Suite as my husband is a Platinum member at Marriot. We walked into our suite. The door opens up into the lounge area. It looked cozy and stylish. We had a decent size TV (probably about 40 something inches), a stylish looking couch, a coffee table, a desk and chair, a safe, and a small fridge. I opened the curtains to this HUGE window with an awesome view! Next I moved on into the bathroom which was also stylish, and very clean looking. It had a big shower, plenty of towels, shampoo, conditioner and body moisturiser, and a huge light up mirror. The bedroom was a big room with a king bed, another TV (same size as the other one), a lovely looking chaise right by the huge window which also had great views. There was plenty of lighting options, the TV had Netflix as well as normal TV. Downside is that the YouTube option does not work. Comfort wise, the sofa is not the best when it comes to comfort, it is definitely there to look pretty, and not to lounge on binging shows. The bed was super comfortable! I didn't want to get out of it. The chaise is also comfortable, i sat and read a book with the TV on in the background. The shower was pleasant, decent water pressure and a nice temperature. Room service was prompt. The suite was clean, stylish, and the room temperature was easy to control. I really have no negatives about my stay here at all. I will definitely be back! We booked a 1 Bedroom Junior Suite for a stay to catch up with friends that live near by this hotel and had a great stay. The room was huge and very inexpensive (Thank you covid!). Normally I would book a standard room but we planned to eat meals with our friends and the living room area accommodated 4 very comfortably. The bedroom was also a good size and no complaints except for the view of the highway, but that didnt really bother me for this trip. The bathroom was also a good size but a little strange with some of the ADA handrail placement in the shower. This hotel was huge and I felt very safe because I was never very close to other people. In terms of area, the neighboorhood is pretty safe with some shopping nearby and a Metro station if you need to go into DC. I would certianly stay here again. read more

Home of Interfusion Festival 2022. I had an amazing time here. I shared a room with some friends and they were able to come in and check in before me even though I was the reservation holder. The elevators were nice and timely, which was great when trying to make a quick stop to the room during the 20 minute breaks of the festival activities. There a lot of comfy places to sit around the hotel as well whether it be in the lobby, or in any of the elevator lobbies. And walking distance to a Whole Foods was also very convenient. The ballrooms were spacious, clean, and modern looking. Temperature regulation was great. I felt comfortable even though it was snowing outside and I love seeing the snow from the second floor atrium with the glass ceilings. This great access to the subway allow the hotel without even having to walk outdoors. read more

Staff was friendly and helpful. My room was large and clean. However, I would not have stayed here had I known they DO NOT HAVE DRY CLEANING SERVICE! Really, who has ever heard of a Marriott without dry cleaning and laundry service? I was on the second week of a two-week business trip and ended up having to walk four blocks in the rain to get my shirts done and suit pressed. Making things worse, the hotel laundry room has only two washer/dryer stacks. The spin cycle of the washer on the right did not work. It only tumbled instead of spinning fast enough to draw water out of the clothes. Being sopping wet meant taking a very long time to dry. All this added up to it taking about three hours for me to wash one load of socks and underwear. read more

This is a late post but a good one! We stayed one night at the Marriot Hotel Crystal Gateway on 2/21 to celebrate my hubby's 40th birthday. Boy was this a beauty of a hotel. Location: We live about an around away and chose this location because it was near the Ruth Chris where we had reservations. It was very easy to get to and once we arrived parking was easy to find. Check-in The check-in process was easy. We were greeted with so much joy and provided with two bottles of water. They immediately wished my husband a happy birthday and when I asked if we could have a late checkout she didn't hesitate to make the change. Room/ambiance The kind size suite with living space was gorgeous. The bed was comfortable and the space very clean. We were in the 12th floor and the big windows in the bedroom and living space allowed for a great view Food Because of COVID there wasn't any room service but there are so many options in the area. There's Ruth Chris, Chipotle, and one we will be coming back for , Ted's Montana Grill. Checkout Checkout was as smooth as check-in and with the same respectful/friendly environment. Nice hotel. So convenient to the metro (literally connected underground.) Rooms were great. I've seen people complain about them being outdated but other than having carpet (which I prefer under my feet instead of hardwood with all the dust and crumbs all over you) I did not feel they were outdated at all. My biggest complaint is no free wifi. I have honestly never been to a hotel that didn't have free wifi. It's a way to con you into signing up for their (free) rewards system because then you get free (shitty) WiFi. Even once you do that, the WiFi is crap and you can pay an additional $3/day for better wifi. On top of that, $45/day to park where I am paying to stay is ridiculous. I could see charging for an extra car or maybe charging $10 but I think the greediness of $45 each day is insane. It makes the Marriott look like they are trying to nickel and dime you instead of being about customer service. read more

Very friendly staff, very nice rooms; especially the bathrooms. The beds are just too small; barely a full. The breakfast buffet was fine, but definitely not worth $30. Had the price been listed I wouldn't have bothered. Only reason I bothered was because the fridge stopped working in my room and my food went bad. The person I talked to said it was supposed to be 54 degrees... not sure how that works, but okay. Only other complaint is was parking... I know more and more hotels are charging for that, but $45 a day is a bit ridiculous. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place but before I get into it...absolutely false advertising when it comes to the pool. The pool is on the website. The pool is on reviews. My wife walked around, asked the front desk and the woman said, "Oh sorry no we don't have a pool." Did they used to have a pool? Was it an April Fools prank and they just never changed it on the website? We don't know but to our knowledge...the place is sans pool....I repeat...sans pool. Onward. Our flight was delayed overnight and I ended up calling 3 separate times to let them know we were still coming. Each time...they seemed annoyed but also confused on why the call. The first time, I said, "It's a storm over there, huh?" The guy says, "yeah it's raining. " Oh. Ok. Well sir I'm stuck in Atlanta so don't know when the flight will no longer be delayed. Mind you, I was coming for a conference that was being held at the hotel and other folks had their flights delayed...so maybe some acknowledgment of that and a, "Don't worry, we've got you covered" sort of message. No. Nothing. While it's free to sign up for Bonvoy, you can see im a member and have some points, talk to me nice. We arrive and I explain that I have two reservations...one made with the company and one made myself. They are for two separate blocks of stay....apparently I was still checked in incorrectly and had to come back down, in the middle of our stay, to get new keys. Here's where the mix of feelings comes in...the customer service (outside of the phone calls before I got there) was actually top notch. The folks were friendly, always fixed the issues...but WHY do I have this issue in the first place??? Some things... 1. Leak in the roof (see picture) of the Fitness Center that had water dripping down, i.e., a leak. 2. Everytime we ordered room service, they got the order wrong and we had to get something taken off or go back and retrieve the missing item. 2a. The restaurant was open until 1030 am, closed, then open again at 4 pm for dinner. How do you have no food available for guests, with a whole restaurant and lounge, from 1030 am to 4 pm? So the sign that says food is available 24hrs (see photo) lies and fairytales. 3. Chair (see picture) seems to be on its last legs. Nuance matters. 4. I'm a Bonvoy member. Every other Marriott I've been to, there are water bottles in the room (gratis) and free wifi codes upon check-in. There were no water bottles in the room and I had to sign into the wifi hoping it got taken off the bulk at the end of the stay. 5. Vending machines conveniently sold out on the floor the entire 5 day stay. But...the customer service, make no mistake, kind and responsive. Just too many issues to have to respond to. This hotel's staff were very accommodating and the rooms were so spacious. I loved my window view especially at night as the city of Arlington, VA lit up. The option of being eco-friendly with linen was a plus as not all hotels would offer a choice. The meeting rooms were very comfortable and the posted itinerary and maps were just so helpful. I truly enjoyed working out in the fitness center at any time of the night; the 24 hour access is the best! This hotel was mindful of many important aspects when hosting a conference. I would encourage using this hotel again. read more
