If you are ever in a questionable state of mind where you feel blocked this class will create a space for you to understand why. Taking this class is a great journey to unveil some truths you will face in your mirror. Several friends took this workshop and recommended it highly, but since I live in NorCal it was never an option. But once the pandemic started and Jen took it virtual, I was able to give it a shot. I am so, so glad I did. I lost my business at the beginning of the shut-down and spent the first few months very depressed. I am a creative person and love making things and writing, but wasn't doing any of that. I enrolled in Jen's workshop and within a couple of weeks started making some profound changes. I had read Julia Cameron's book a lifetime ago, and was struggling with finding the momentum to work through the book again on my own, in a pandemic. Wow I have so many things to say. I came to this via "coincidence," someone in a group I was speaking in had messaged me and mentioned Jen's class. Working with Jen literally changed my life. Stuck and depressed for years, I was encouraged by a friend to sign up for one of Jen's Artists' Way groups. In that 13 weeks, I met myself again. I have always loved writing. I was able to meet Jen through another class we were taking together and then heard about this class. I started The Artist's Way at the beginning of last year with a friend but ended up not being able to complete it due to complications during the pandemic. I literally cannot say enough amazing things about Jen Seifert and the now multiple groups she runs. I started with Artist's Way on Zoom to help unblock my creativity. This weekly group, based on the book, is guided by Jen's special touches, she's now studying to be a psychologist and that comes through, meditation, commentaries and inspiration to make it a customized experience that's inspiring, builds community and does what is says it will. Then she started THRIVE-ish, special weekend retreats currently on Zoom full of special guests to lift your spirits and, again, inspire you to create whatever it is you want to work on, get started on that project or just come away feeling new and refreshed. These uplifting programs create community, are a safe place and a lot of fun. Since attending both I have sold two pieces of writing and placed a photograph in a juried art contest, something I never dreamed of doing before but gained the confidence to do. Thirdly, Jen now runs weekly accountability groups for a nominal fee, with the money going to a future weekend retreat. One hour a week on a Sunday night, she puts simple but inspiring and thought-provoking prompts up every 15 minutes for you to write about or you can just grab that time for yourself, uninterrupted and know you are going to work on your writing or artwork or whatever creativity is calling to you right then. It's an hour of artistry all to yourself. Whatever class you choose with Jen- and I can't highly enough recommend all three- you will be enlightened and and inspired to create and build the confidence to do so.
