    The tasting room

I would highly recommend doing their tour, if you are there. A quick, informative tour followed by a tasting - what could be better? A bit of history and a great rum tasting. BTW there rums are great.

    Making rum.

The tour was nice and enjoyable, offering a relaxed way to learn about the history and process. It wraps up with a rum tasting, which was definitely the highlight. If you're short on time and have to choose between the tour and the tasting, I'd recommend going straight for the rum tasting -- it's well worth it!

Amy the tour guide and bartender. She was great.

Amy, the guide, made the tour fun and enjoyable. The production of the rum is interesting to see and the tour ended at the tasting room where you get to sample four different rums and two cocktails. The rum pina colada is amazing. We tried to visit the last four times we came to St Croix and they're finally open for tours. Glad we came.

Amy was absolutely incredible with her story telling, the history and explanation of the distillery process. Must visit when in St. Croix!!

I have always been a fan of Cruzan Rum. Learning how it is made it even better. Because St. Croix is an American territory, you can bring back up to 6 bottles to the States. I also learned that the flavored rums are bottled in the states. I highly recommend the tour. In the end, you receive 4 samples and two cocktails. I tried the banana, the vanilla, and the peach.

    Diana G.

Pros: - You get four shots and two cocktails after the tour is done - You can buy bottles cheaper than anywhere else on the island and cheaper than in the states - Parking on site - Great sitting area Cons: - You have to go on tour to do a tasting - The tour is outside in the heat and our tour guide that day was either new or just didn't enjoy his job - you have to wait till a tour starts - we initially tried going on a Saturday and it was closed. Extras: The tour is $10 per person. Bathrooms on site are clean

On our vacation to St Croix we had to do SOME touristy 'stuff' so a day of shopping and a tour of the Cruzan Rum Distillery was mandatory for us. Neither Wifey nor I are big drinkers, but we do live a cocktail from time to time and if it's summer then Cruzan Rum is a nice way to start! We really had a blast on the tour and the tasting afterwards. I absolutely love learning things when I'm on vacation so we were able to nerd out for a bit. After the tour, you're offered a tasting and I recommend taking them up on it. We tasted four kinds of rum and had two cocktails at he bar. Drinking age is 18 in St Croix so my daughter tried a few too...I think she found a couple she'll like when she turns 21 (yeah, ok...). Probably shouldn't have driven to our next destination, but it all worked out. I tried the Single barrel, light, cruzan confusion and diamond dark. Also had a tropical punch and a delusion for my cocktails (so good...). There are mango trees all over the location so the bartender sliced up some warm, fresh mango to eat between tastings. We walked away having purchased a case of flavored rum. I'd go back for another tour if we ever make it back to St Croix.

Tour was so awesome and informative. Learned so much about the rum making process and got to see the inside view of the process while they're doing. Staff were awesome and filled with knowledge.

The Silky Sister to Cruzan Cream. This horchata rum is smooth on the rocks or with Fireball rum for a great mix!

This tour surpasses the Diageo Distillery by far. You get a "hands on" perspective on how one of the best rums in the world is made. I particularly loved learning about the process of creating the 'dark' and the 'light' rums. The taste bar at the end of the tour is the icing on the cake!! Ask the bartender to concoct any one of the famous drink recipes listed or if you're brave enough, take a shot of 151 straight! Whether you're an avid drinker, a rum connoisseur or just visiting the island; this tour is a MUST!!!

March 2016 group tour- Cruzan Rum was our Fav!

We had a large group on an island bus tour, and the Cruzan Rum Factory was by far our best stop! Our tourguide (wish I remembered her name) was absolutely fantastic- she was energetic, funny and really engaged with our group. The tour is just about the right amount of time and really covered everything from history to how the plant works to who owns it and how it's operated now. Then of course the tastings are a favorite for everyone. They are generous and plentiful! We all left feeling good and full of rum! Aside from the great people who work there and the amazing rum that comes from the Cruzan Rum Factory- it's in a beautiful setting. Make sure to make time to sit and enjoy a drink on the patio or under the gorgeous tree out back. Truly a must do when on island- as a tourist or a local! https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g147403-d148453-r362101361-Cruzan_Rum_Distillery-Frederiksted_St_Croix_U_S_Virgin_Islands.html#

Great tour that was informative and short. Loved seeing the process, and even got to try the molasses coming out of some big tanker truck. Tour guide was awesome! Lovely gift shop and bar where you can try some rum and drinks. It was hot, so we only had one drink (delusion), and it was yummy. Best thing: 6 bottles of fruity flavored rum (1L each), plus a box and packing for $51. Box is packed and perfect for checking as cargo on your flight back to the US mainland.

Tour guide Shelly. I don't recommend her.
    Kimberly B.

Our tour guide was a complete rip and I am being nice! She was not very informative. She talked like she was reading from a script and not like she really knew. The gal giving the next tour was upbeat and smiling and engaging the group. I want a do-over.

    Alicia G.

It's definitely interesting to see and learn how Cruzan Rum is distilled and processed (lots of molasses in vats, distilling machines and barrels; bottling done in Florida - see photos above). But, it's even more fun to drink the rum samples at the end (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/bVOJnbUrB54gpEsKiuFJgQ?select=0akrk9jpI8JdbktLpuh4Hg) and if you're Asian - get toasted off of just one and be hangover free. It'll only cost ya $5 (tour+drinks)! Also: best to buy the rum here- 6 bottles for $43 and they'll package it up with bubble wrap so you can get through customs!

He is very knowledgeable about the area and was an absolute expert navigating the terrain of the rain forest and mountain. It's a really fun ride when you have a driver/tour guide that you trust! Kendall was fantastic - highly recommend requesting him! The waves around the rocks surrounding the tide pools were very intense and I had zero fear because Kendall really knew what he was doing! You have to do a little bit of rock climbing to get to the pools but Kendall gave us step-by-step instructions and it was a blast. (I am not a rock climber!) I wish I brought a waterproof phone case to bring my phone to the actual tide pools. It was breathtaking and so fun to swim in!

Please see the attached pictures and read the facts of our experience and decide what would be best for you and yours. Attached are pictures of the facility and their equipment including the two working Jeeps on this day. By lunch time they only had one working Jeep. We left out in "The Green Machine " just after 9 am. We made a stop at the gas station for fuel. We made our way out to Udall Point and then on our way the west side of the island at about 11:15 an while on the main road, not off road, we saw the the rear right wheel and axle pass in front of us. It flew ahead of us and luckily slammed into a tree on the roadside and not into on coming traffic. Our driver was able to get the Jeep off the road just a few feet from a telephone pole. A few more feet we would have slammed head on into the pole. If not for a Good Samaritan who stopped to check on us we would have been stuck on the side of the road for more than 2 hours. A tow truck showed up fairly quickly and hauled off "The Green Machine." The Good samaritan took us and the driver a couple more miles up the road to the chicken shack where we waited until after 2:00 pm for the one other working Jeep to come pick us up. We did have a good lunch at the Chicken Shack. The lady who took our money and another gentleman showed up in the other Jeep. Our driver loaded us up on this Jeep and we returned to the office. I had to hold the door shut on the way back. Upon the return to the Tan Tan office we were offered the option to complete the trip this day or schedule a half day tour another day. Being that we were more than 2 and half hours behind schedule and had dinner reservations we were not able to continue this day. We were not able to reschedule for another half day tour during the remainder of our trip. We asked for a full refund form the lady who took our cash and she informed us she could not refund our money. We asked to speak to the owner. She informed us the owner was not on the islands but was able to get him on the phone. We advised him we wanted a full refund due to the unfulfilled tour and being put in an unreasonable dangerous situation due to the faulty vehicle. Take a look at the picture and make a call for your own safety. The owner refused to refund our money. He offered half a refund or a half day tour another day. We advised neither option would work for us. We simply wanted a refund. He flat out said he would not refund our money & we informed him we would make a factual post of our experience on social media with Tan Tan, with pictures and seek legal assistance to recoup our money. We offered to accept a refund and take no further action and part on good terms. The owner refused to refund our money and told us to do what we needed to. So here we are. Please review pictures and make a decision for yourself.

This is also the 1st time we got to ride horses onto the beach and into the ocean! I brought carrots for my horse and he loved it. I rode a horse name Warrior and my husband rode a horse named Flip Flops. Both were great horses! Our guides were Mary and Tarin and they were awesome! Our trip started on the beach and then went into the rain forest. We saw two colorful iguanas but other than that, we didn't see much else. Lots of mango and tamarind trees and a couple of old termite mounds. I just enjoyed the horseback ride. The weather was nice and comfortable with a few sprinkles. After our ride through the rainforest, we headed back to the beach so the horses could take a dip in the water. Rainbow beach is beautiful! The water was warm and clear and we got some great pictures of ourselves. Mary and Tarin were so accommodating in taking pictures of all of us. I highly recommend Cruzan Cowgirls Horseback!

Our small group consisted of one experienced rider, one rider with some experience, and two novice riders. The girls who led the ride were both amazing and were eager to talk about the history of the island and our horses, which were all rescues, save one. They shared stories of how the horses got their names, as well as how they'd survived on the island with no power for almost a year after a hurricane destroyed the island's infrastructure. Our ride took us through the old sugar plantations and onto the beach before taking us into the water. Before entering the water, we were warned about the behaviors to watch for in our horses that would indicate the horse was about to lay down in the water, as they like to do sometimes and what to do if the horse did lay down. My horse, Alien, apparently loves the water so much that he moans the entire time, and he loves swimming! This was not your typical cruise ship excursion where you walk your horse in the shallow water. We were in about 5' of water, and it was AWESOME!!! I felt like I could have stayed and ridden horses on the beach and in the water all day, and yes, Alien made his "ohhhh this feels so good" noises the entire time we were in the water. My shorts were completely soaked, but I expected that and I wasn't bothered by it! The warm sun meant they dried quickly. I rode barefoot because I was wearing flip flops, and I didn't want to risk losing them on the ride. It was my choice, but I recommend if you're not comfortable with riding barefoot, wear something like water shoes, old sneakers, or Crocs. I've added a picture of me on Alien just before we went out into the water.

They are formed by waves and tide pushing seawater through a small crevice into a basin and trapping it there, thus forming swimming pool-sized tidal pool. But don't worry, the water is not stagnant. You can either walk here via a trail or drive there. Both are a bit challenging, but it is recommend to have an off road vehicle to drive there. I did not have one so, I would have to hoof it. I parked at the Carambola Beach Resort at started on my journey. They have a little area outside of the gate where you can park. The trail as a lot more arduous than I expected. There are some very, very steep inclines and declines, which become like ice after a rain. In some points it gets very narrow and overgrown. Some legs are right off of a step embankment and other have low hanging obstacles. The trail is not very well marked so be sure to take the one for walkers and not vehicles. I hear that it is a lot further. FYI, you do get an awesome view of the Resort along the trail. I recommend bringing a couple of bottles of water and some music, if you plan on making this trek. Also, good comfortable hiking shoes with some traction are a must. It took me about 40 minutes an I was at the pools. I was pretty beat when I got there and welcomed a dip in the nice cool water. Now I will apologize in advance, but here is my public service announcement. You will gain a respect for not only the pools beauty, but its power as well. Tide pools, especially this one are no joke. It can suck you into the ocean and good luck. You are at the mercy of the tides, who are undefeated. Water shoes are an absolute must here. The rocks in this area are like knives. You well definitely leave here with some little cuts. I got my hand and leg pretty good. They are also very uneven a slick, so, take your time. The final thing that I recommend is the buddy system. There were many times along the trail and in the pools, that I thought to myself that if something happened to me, no one would know for a long time. The way the trail is, it would be very difficult to get help to me. Vehicles can only get but so far near the pool area and boats would have a had time with the rocks and waves. If you don't have a buddy then at least let some one know where you are going and what time you plan on coming back. Don't get me wrong, this place is amazing. I was in aww of the waves crashing down, the clear water and the little pools. I highly recommend checking this place out, even though it may be difficult to do for many. I cannot stress enough that if you do visit, to please respect the water's power.
