For anyone thinking of signing up for Crunch Fitness in Riverview, florida run away, far away. These people are con artists and lie straight to your face. Myself and my 17 are old son signed up, with me paying for both memberships. We told them that we're staying with family and would be moving soon, "no issue just transfer to another Crunch" We'll after the move we found the the only crunch was 35 to 45 minutes away so we called to cancel, some kid said no issue. THEN A YEAR later my son who is now 18 is getting calls from debt collectors, not me him. I called today and the rude manager said sorry not our issue. I said he was a minor and she said "not anymore so we can go after him" ! Her only solution was to have us pay half of the $240 and then buy another yearly membership.!! That is the definition of Insanity!! My advice is NEVER sign up for a crunch gym, over priced con-artists that are the " Used Car Salesman " of the fitness industry. And when they said it can get crowded during the morning and evening times they lied again! It was so packed 70% of the time we would have to wait 30 to 40 minutes to use a piece of equipment since they allow the members to sit on their phones in between using the machines. I've worked out in some of the biggest named gyms in Chicago, LA and Denver and none of them where this bad. BUY BEWARE!!!! They will screw you over with a huge smile on their face. The restroom smelled like marijuana the trash cans were overflowing no one was emptying them and they were crumbs from people's protein bars on the floor plus the people that go there do not wipe down the machines after they use them it's a disgusting facility the parking lot is too dark there's not enough site lighting On top of that the people that work there just hang out amongst themselves and don't even bother to clean up the place pick up a damn broom or something I don't wanna step on someone's protein cookie crumbs!! read more

Please listen to me..... Don't get caught up in the trap with Crunch Fitness. They tell you enough to get you trapped. They put out these free or 26 cent deals to get you in the door. You show up and now the trap is set. They don't explain everything fully and they're only trying to suck more money out of you. When I went back to complain about the agreement and what I was told, the person that I was dealing with was no longer working there. So, they won't honor anything he told me. They have a high personnel turn over and I can see why. When I asked to be given information to complain about my experience, the young man that I had never seen before, told me that he was not allowed to. That is a problem.... I walked away and then I turned and went back in the establishment and asked for information in a different way and he gave me a generic email as if I wasn't aware of that fact. I simply took the information and decided to contact the owner or owners in a different way. Now..., I see why this gym is constantly advertising. The way they do business is awful. Another business sucking the life out of hard working people that are just trying to survive and stay healthy. I will give them an opportunity to correct this wrong. If they don't, I will post this story every chance I get to warn people to avoid the Crunch Fitness trap. read more

Don't waste your money! The new guy claiming to be the GM does not care about the members and is willing to sacrifice half a decade of membership over a forgotten ID for a guest one time! Completely unappreciative of the dedication of the members.I've paid for the premium membership for years just to be able to occasionally bring a guest with me and have not once encountered anything but a welcoming environment. We always remember to bring the ID but just forgot it once after sitting through 30 min of intense local traffic from a car fire. What a difference a Three hour drive will make. The facility is small, and packed from corner to corner. The staff was friendly, welcoming as you're checked in. The group fitness instructors AMAZING, collaborative, and supportive. They attend one another's classes and everyone presents. They grab new instructors to get them in the groove and to have the opportunity to present so everyone can sub without the worry of empty classes. Charging a card years after cancelling for no reason and no warning unbelievable. For context I have not been back to this gym after cancelling my membership years ago, but then suddenly years later my father gets a charge on his account... for a membership for personal training I had quit years ago. I had gone through the proper precautions of cancelling properly and have never had any issues with other gym memberships. I remember vaguely that there was a dispute then as I was over charged and that they agreed they were wrong on and they never contacted me again nor disputed back, until now years later on my parents card which was not connected to my credit card. This from the below reviews seems to be common practice of having individuals cancel and months and years later they charge them when they hadn't charged in months or years. The manager does not call back and when you go in person they are rude and accusatory. For reference I cancelled because I moved. Now that I am back though I would have thought to come back to crunch I would never based on their disgusting business practices of charging cards of others on file who are connected to you without warning or notice. As a founding member the gym has everything you need. Parking is issue but that can't be changed. My biggest issue ( yes happens at all gyms) the amount weights plates laying everywhere. I have not been to this location for close to 3 years and walked in today to cancel. I was told by the person at the desk that I needed to pay for an additional month to cancel, mind you they just took another month payment from my account 5 days ago. I was told to read my contract which I have and nowhere does it state that I must pay to cancel. It only stats that cancellations must be in writing which contradicts what they told me on the phone which was to come in to cancel. I refused to pay any additional money and cannot get a live person on the phone. Super frustrated!!!!!! read more

So.....does anyone know how to contact a human being at Crunch Fitness Corporate? Their enrollment practices are extremely shady. In November, I paused my minor child's membership due to non-compliance at home. 13 days later I reached out to 'reinstate' my sons' membership when behavior and morale improved. Somehow, they'd lost the original waiver I'd signed so was informed I needed to go back in to sign in person. Crunch acted as though I was setting up a brand new membership, although that wasn't spoken. I signed the waiver and another document on a credit card processing machine, and was told the docs would be emailed to me. First week of January, my son informed the front desk that he was cancelling his membership because he was moving back to PA. (He's no longer a minor.) While neither verbally OR in the documents that I actually signed, or at least the ones that were emailed to me state anything at all about a 90 day mandatory enrollment period. They make it so you cannot cancel at any time during that first 90 days, and any fees that come due during that time frame, you are responsible for paying. Go figure, also in January....they tacked on their annual fee! In the two years prior, minus the 13 day gap referenced above....we had paid the annual fee in May. No matter how many times I've spoken with the local guys, expressing that Crunch neither verbally OR in writing told me of this 90 day policy - how would I even know what I was agreeing to? Furthermore, had I known....I would have just kept my kid working out in our garage gym for the next 7 weeks. You cannot call the corporate offices. Questions posed through their system go unanswered. This is shady, underhanded, deceitful, and lacks any kind of decent and honorable customer service and transparency. read more

This Crunch opened up about a year ago. At first I thought that they regularly sanitize but after being there about 3 months I realized that they are not cleaning the machine properly. Many machines still have previous users sweat. I stopped going for almost 8 months and wanted to get back to exercising again. Well I've just started working out at this location. Mind you I've been a member in Sarasota for 2 years. The parking lot is full and people don't always re-rack the weights. But that is a problem with all the gyms I've been to. I have found the place clean and the staff friendly every time I've gone in so that's how I'm reviewing the gym. After reading all the other complaints I felt obligated to also share. Be careful with this location. I've been a crunch member since 2017. I joined at crunch Hillsborough which was so amazing. I moved to Riverview and was so excited they were building a crunch near me. I have had nothing but issues since joining. The parking sucks, it's always super overcrowded, they draft Incorrect amounts from your account, and no one takes responsibility. I had a situation where I downgraded my account over 3 weeks before bank withdrawal. I paid the down grading fee, but was still charged the higher tier amount. No one wanted to take responsibility. Then I went to cancel and the guy at the register talked me into freezing my account for 3 months instead where they wouldn't charge me. They charged me anyways. I went to the company to cancel, again. I was then informed I had to pay the amount that was charged while my account was "supposedly" on freeze. I paid this to be done with this company. I asked for a copy of an official closure due to my issues in the past but the guy got an attitude saying I would get it by email. I stood there for 30 mins, the receipt for payment came right away, still no cancellation email. After several attempts I finally spoke with someone who printed out the cancel letter after I explained it's for my piece of mind. Please be wary of this company! Been going to this location for a few months now. It can be very busy on week nights, but they have plenty of equipment and I usually can get what I need during the course of my strength workouts. It would be nice to have more padded mats for warmup and stretching. There a plenty of treadmills for even the busiest times,too. Staff have always been helpful and courteous when needed. Everything is usually clean and in working order. I haven't tried any classes yet, but they look like fun! read more

I advise ANYONE to NEVER join this gym. I signed up in April 2024. I cancelled a week later and was still charged 35, then 53 and then another 35 again. After you cancel with them, they will continue to charge you for 90 days even though your account is cancelled. Im never joining this piss pool ever again in life. read more

Stay home if you're scared of air. Crunch has done a fantastic job keeping the place clean and organized. They have staff constantly walking around disinfecting equipment and organizing. As a previous gym owner myself, I have been very impressed with the management, the friendliness of the staff, and the availability of all types of workout equipment. Whether you're a body builder, a power lifter, a cardio queen, an Olympic lifter (yes they have legit platforms and squat racks), or a "Crossfitter," this place has absolutely everything you need! This is a very large Crunch compared to some of the other ones I've gone to. I love that they have the cardio equipment completely separate from the machines. It makes more room for weights and doesn't make the gym feel as packed as it is. They have a lot of classes at this gym so I recommend getting the app to keep up with everything. Overall, the staff is very friendly and I really haven't had any major issues at this gym other than them shutting down a couple times due to power outages. read more

I've been a Crunch-downtown member for some time and heard good things about the new Riverview location so decided to check it out. Very impressive to say the least! The parking lot was packed to the max, but surprisingly the interior is so massive that there plenty of room and no wait on the equipment that I used. There free weight and machine collection is incredible, with cardio equipment all on a 2nd floor to maximize space. Locker rooms were about the nicest I can recall seeing in the Tampa area. One additional benefit is a large class area located in the back of the gym, again about the largest one is likely to see. Riverview has had to wait a long time for a gym but this certainly makes up for it. I'm looking forward to returning when in the area. read more

Crunch fitness just opened up in the Riverview area near Big Bend Rd and 301 and located right next door to the Buffalo Wild Wings. My wife went and I went on the grand opening day and the parking lot was packed. I imagine this lot will get better as people start figuring out when they want to workout so just be wary of that factor. Since it was their first day open things were kind of hectic at the front desk with check-in and what not but that's to be expected. The staff seem to know what they are doing so I know that process will also get better in due time. We did have a minor issue where my wife's ID was held at the desk because she was my guest, and when we were leaving we had to talk to 3 different staff members before we figured out where it was. As for the inside, you walk in to a super spacious gym floor with power racks, pulley systems, machines, and free weights. No issues getting to where we needed to go for our workouts. To the left are the stairs that lead up to all the cardio machines; treadmills, bikes, ellipticals, and stair master system. My wife loved it up there. They also have a HIIT area to the right of the check in desk and a group fitness room in the back in which they will offer a variety of classes. There's something for everyone here! Crunch Fitness is definitely a welcomed addition to the South Shore area and if you're looking for a gym and still trying to figure out your options, come check these guys out! read more

Do not get a membership there, gym is full all the time, it can be nice at the begging but with time u will only encounter frustration. i got charged over $110 dollares for gym, who pays that much for gym? I have canceled crunch 2 times before this time, and I am never coming back after this. Every time I have a subscription with crunch, there is some sort of money issue. I do not understand the malicious intent behind not wanting to pay back what was not owed. I canceled months ago and I went on my day. I understand is my fault for not checking my email before leaving, but I trusted the crunch employee could do one simple task. The crunch employee told me that everything is taken care of and I should not be charged for anything else. I have done this before, so I trusted their word. They kept charging my card even after I said I want to cancel my account. I haven't been there in months! The least they can do is give me a month free. Everyone has a barcode, check my attendance, that's the proof. At this location, when you have someone helping you, make sure to take their name and email or phone number.
