Foxtail Orchards - Inside Fox Den

This was such a wonderful place to stay! We stayed in a little cabin called The Fox Den. It is…read morelocated in a quaint part of the blue ridge mountains. We found it through air bnb but wanted to put in a yelp review because we liked it so much. We like to find new towns/areas to experience on the way to the beach and really enjoyed this spot. I guess (according to the welcome binder in the cabin) the couple who own the place, the husband had a buddy from childhood who was a state trooper buddy and died while on the job. The whole cabin was decorated in his honor with his pictures, favorite things such as sports teams, etc. They built a second cabin in honor of another fallen trooper. Thought it was a really cool way to honor those who have served our country and I loved "getting to know" this young trooper through the things in the cabin and learning his story. The cabin was really nice and modern (for a cabin) on the inside and very clean. There's a fire pit and seating out front, also a picnic bench. Great view from the porch. Very peaceful surroundings. We went to the Painted Peak Brewery and the locals were very friendly. We obviously stuck out because everyone seemed to know everyone, but they were very welcoming. The brewery had karaoke and there were a lot of really good singers! Small mountain town but quaint with a handful of restaurants with decent hours (didn't close too early). Everyone we met in the town of Tazewell was so friendly, including the lady watering the courthouse porch flowers. There's a state park nearby, Hungry Mother. Highly recommend this place! We will be back!

Can't say enough good things about this place! More of a "campground" than "resort" but access to…read moretrails is amazing! Annie could not have been more helpful...she gave us directions, restaurant recommendations, and spots to check out on the trails. Our fifth wheel is pretty large and the road into the resort was a little tight...wish the RV spots were a bit more level but everything was clean and in good working order. Store was a great place to pick up souvenirs! We will DEFINITELY go back soon!!

Then 2 new cabins were added in the 2017 season along with another rv site. Other on-site amenities were then added-ice, firewood, an ATV wash area with it's own concrete pad, FREE Wifi & cable. You will also LOVE my gel memory foam mattresses on every bed. After a long day of riding you will have the BEST night sleep you've ever had ! In the very near future you will see a new office/general store along with additional rv sites added near our trail gate, after that will come more cabins opposite those rv sites. WOW, that's a lot to accomplish in just 1 1/2 years, we're literally moving "mountains" of dirt ! My problem is we just can't build them quick enough for all the riders who have expressed overwhelming interest in staying with us. Let me also say a HUGE "thank you" to all my resort family guests who have already returned to our resort again after enjoying their first experience with us ! We're moving as quick as we can to add to our line-up of beautiful cabins & rv sites in one of the most gorgeous settings you could imagine.

My family and I come at least once every year! If you're looking for an adventure where anything…read morecan happen this is the place. We've stayed in a cabin, and we've camped in a lot. The cabins are super nice, yet for our family of three we found it a little cheaper to rent a lot to camp. The camp ground is rock so if you plant on pitching a tent bring an extra tarp to soften the lay (I did, and slept great). The bathrooms at the campsite are amazing- each room has a toilet, shower, and sink. Not to mention the water pressure is great- the kind that will send the caked mud straight down the drain. The trails are super fun. We usually wake up and head out to the trail anywhere from 6-8 and don't get back until 8-9 (You are NOT aloud to ride after dark unless they're outlaw trails which are trails that are technically not a part of the system- keep in mind they are usually very difficult!). The trails are very well trimmed and match up to the difficulty. Keep in mind any trails with 3 digits are dirt bike trails (sometimes they start out a little wide, but most definitely do not stay that way. There are many things to see through the trails, lots of landmarks and things. I highly recommend joining a Facebook group as you will receive first hand advice from the people riding- plus access to hidden easter eggs such as where the bears are today!
