(And considered it worth the trip) One member of my fam jam only likes plain glazed donuts, and Donut Mill are their top fave. There are a huge variety though. You walk in, look at the flavors posted and then say which you want when your turn comes up at the counter. Donut heaven! The staff is always running off their feet but has always been so kind. I really need to try a soup and sandwich sometime cuz I've heard they are great too. If you like cinnamon buns? Walk next door to Glen's and get a cinnamon bun as big as your head. Who doesn't crave a cold ice cream after a hot day at the water?! Their variety of ice creams is fantastic, even seeing lactose free options. Everything from Maple Walnut, sherbets, bubblegum and pistachio. This trip we ordered a baby size ($3.60) chocolate mint (classic and good) and rocket fuel (similar to bubblegum in taste but maybe a bit more grape tasting); they were just the right size for the kids. And we also ordered single scoops ($5.15) of the wild spicy chocolate and churro (this was my top fav that we ordered, it was the hardest/coldest one so it didn't melt quite as fast either, but the Flavor was super unique and I love that spicy hit you get) and the pineapple sherbet( very refreshing and light, perfect for a hot summer day). The ice cream was really soft and seemed to melt extremely fast, wishing it was a bit colder/harder. But after knowing that I recommend you find a seat and eat it right after you order it. Service was fast, we didn't have to wait long to order and the staff were good about double checking flavor choices. Handing us each cone as they scooped it. These places also sell a variety of floating devices for some good lake time and Sylvan Lake memorabilia. Lacombe is becoming a more frequented place for me to meet country town & rural friends. Mostly as Red Deer is just too busy to accommodate last minute get togethers unless you are closer by & have the opportunity/time to drive around. That's how I first got to experience Ona & that was back when there was a furniture & a homewares store including the cafe within it. Things have changed since then (now only cafe & cafe space is significantly larger with raised patio in back) but still fabulous food & great coffee. Plus the bonus is the neat extras one can also purchase. Lots of lower height tables & it seems to be quite popular with larger groups & families (observation from my last visit a few weeks ago). Parking is on the streets around but I have yet to walk further than a block. Bathrooms are generous in size & I greatly appreciate how well kept they are considering how popular this place always seems. Decently lit with lots of natural light. A bit more on the louder side now that it is only a cafe but still a good spot to cool off & rest the arms from driving. I've tried treats & sandwiches here - both are of decent sizes & what the price of this are these days, I would say at a reasonable price. Coffee is always tasty here & I quite enjoyed the iced option this last stop being that the outside temp was over 25C. Staff are always friendly here & great at answering questions. As a cane user, I also greatly appreciate that things are bright out to the table so I don't have to navigate around searching for seating with food &/or drink plus a cane in the other hand. Thanks for always an enjoyable road break!

Place was 80% full when I got there and most people even just got thier food + drinks to go. Lovely place to kill some time or for a coffee date. Loved the assortment of unique goods at the back. Cashew cream cheese, chocolate milk, crackers, broth, candy, etc. What a wide range! But all very unique and would make such a great gift for food-lovers. I tried the sausage roll $7.50: 9/10: very greasy. They do warm it up for you. Sausage was a good texture and taste. Pasty was nice too but sausage falls right out of pastry when eating. I also tried the beet root latte. SOOO pretty! So beautifully pink. BUT tastes like warm milk with no other flavor. I would have liked a stronger beet taste. So if you want something for show and not taste this one is 10/10.
