I have never been tattooed by the folks here, but this is the only place in the greater Cleveland…read morearea that I would let pierce me. JR is a fantastic piercer who really knows his stuff. Before my first visit here, I checked out several body mod shops looking for someone to do an industrial; all of them recommended JR for more unusual (and more difficult) piercings. I went there and was so thrilled with how he worked and how he treated me: he took measurements, adjusted the bar to fit, even getting me water and letting me hang out in the piercing chair for as long as I needed when I got dizzy afterwards. There was no hurry, the price was entirely reasonable, and his space (as well as the jewelry) was completely clean and sterile. I haven't went anywhere else since. On a returning visit I wanted my lobes stretched a bit to accommodate some new plugs I had received. He did this free of charge even though he had to use weights (granted, he got a big tip for his generosity). This kind of treatment is certainly hard to find, especially around the suburbs here. You might have to wait a bit as he does not rush with his clients, but as I mentioned, it is so well worth it. If you are looking for an experienced piercer, please go check him out. And if you are looking into a more unusual piercing, there is no one around that does a better job - even the other piercers in the area will send you to him!

I booked a tattoo with an employee of North Coast Body Mod, Rick (Bacon) Maccartney, after sending…read morehim the design I wanted. I had designed my own tat, since I have a degree in art, and gave him an extra example, blown-up, of a band symbol I had incorporated into the design, so he could understand the detail, since it was only around 1.5" tall in the design. Bacon had been working at this shop since it was on Munson, years back, and I had seen his work on Instagram, so I was confident he could do a good job. The design was a very simple, 8" design, with a total of 3 colors, not including the black line work. When I came in for the work, he showed me a modified version of what I wanted. Although, since he hadn't changed the main elements, I wasn't particularly upset. Although, he had not incorporated the markings into the design that I wanted, he assured me that he wanted to avoid black bleeding into the colored areas, so he would add them in a second session. 2 hours later, when he finished this session, he placed the tegaderm over the work and told me to look in the mirror. When I looked, ink and blood under the tegaderm obscured much of the details, but I did bring up that he hadn't outlined the moon and he told me he didn't like outlining elements like moons. I told him because I'm so fair - milky white, really, the yellow of the moon appeared to blend in with the color of my skin and I need it outlined. I also brought up the fact that the main element was a flat, light greenish yellow and it was supposed to be ombre, from dark green to light, as per our discussion. There were other elements that he didn't put into the tattoo, also. He told me not to worry - that he plans on completing the tattoo at the next session. He told me when the tattoo was healed in a month, just call and set up an appointment for the finish work. I waited the 7 days to remove the tegaderm that I was instructed, and washed off the dried blood and ink, and was very surprised by the tattoo. The main element - a 4" Luna Moth, was the same color as the body of the moth. It really wasn't even light green, but a darker shade of yellow. As I thought back to that day, I remember him opening his ink drawer that was almost empty, and digging around. I didn't think much of it, assuming he just placed the ink he intended to use in the top drawer. But now, I suspect he was low on colors. Also, the Moth was supposed to have a red border, but he used a thick, 14 -15 gage liner to do the whole outline, which should should have been done with a .08 gage liner, so now the linework just bleeds into the red border, making it look like a thick black line. Thinking about this now, I'm guessing he was low on needles, too! I tried to stay calm, thinking that my skin was still peeling and sort of scabby, and maybe needed a few weeks to see the end results. I called the number on Bacon's card, which was North Coast Body Mod's number, and left a message asking to set up an appointment with Bacon, to get the work finished. Over the course of the next 2 months, I called around a total of 6 more times, leaving a request for a call back. At this point, I have no other explanation other than Bacon is ghosting me. Now that the Tattoo is healed, it looks like a kindergarten crayon drawing. So much wrong on so many levels. Even the corona around the moon has uneven rays and the geometric background triangle that is supposed to meet at the pyramid within the moon is not complete. From the main subject, it's single use of color, and missing design elements, like the twinkling stars that are either missing or poorly drawn, the whole thing is just so poorly constructed, it's ridiculous! Luckily, I have a great Tattoo artist, Shawn Skale, at Cardinal Ink, who's going to fix it for me. But I'll be taking NCBM, owner, Richard Kish, and Rick Maccartney to Small Claims court to get my money back and any pain and suffering the court allows. Do yourself a favor - never deal with these clowns if you know what's good for you!

And then i told her I just wanted to get my jewelry tightened and she walked away. No "stay here" "one second" NOTHING. Like am I supposed to follow you? Said we have to wait 10 Mins until Kelsey (the piercer) comes back. I go "why wait, if you can do it now, can I just do it now?" And then she took me. Kelsey walked in. I recognize her from a woman I passed on the sidewalk smoking while shopping at passport to Peru. Kelsey guided back to her corner after she made me wait so she could change her outfit (kept her crocs on tho). And tightened my $400 jewelry and ruined it. I left bleeding and in pain. She used pliers too big (I stated I needed needle nose pliers) and had grease on them. I was in incredible pain from her unprofessionalism. THEN she charged me $10 for less than 10 mins of her time!! I have traveled all over the world and been pierced there. I have NEVER had been charged for just tightening jewelry!!! I asked if she had change, she stated no but can cashapp me - what professional has cashapp but no change? She complained how it didn't snap, I explained it was custom made high end jewelry that didn't snap, just touched. I also asked if it was the right gauge, and she said "no, it just not clasping" and that sounded weird so I further clarified about the gauge and she didn't say anything about the size. She basically acted like she didn't even notice the right size do gauging! She tried to convince me to buy jewlery from her (bc she needed a clasp and complained abt it), I said no, and she said I can just buy it on Amazon because that's what she does. I recognize the box on her stand and it's a VERY cheap Amazon brand. None of her stuff is professional. Cleaned myself up and went on with my day, came home and showered and my ear is bruised from her and I have a mark on my ear. I changed out the jewelry she "fixed" bc she misshaped my own jewelry. Contacted my jeweler back home, they stated that her manhandling the jewelry with unclean and too big pliers ruined the shape of the jewlery, most piercers don't charge for just tightening pieces, and that this behavior is abnormal and unprofessional. Plus, no AC in 85 degree weather today. So it was well over 90 in the studio. Imagine getting tattooed in an unprofessional and HOT environment. Also, there were people sprawled all over the couches sleeping! Overall, Kelsey: 1) made me bleed from a fully healed pericing 2) charged me $10 just to close the piercing in less than 10 min(incorrectly) 3) broke my $400 jewelry. 4) unprofessional by calling me "babe" 5) works in an unprofessional and frankly unsanitary (from the sweat, heat, and people sleeping on furniture) shop. Would NEVER recommend! On top of that, I called over a month ago because I needed help removing the jewelry for an MRI. I wanted them to just remove and the insert them later in the day (I would pay for convenience like that) and when I called at 3 pm, the person who answered the phone said the pericing wasn't in and she would call back (she wasn't in at 3pm when the shop opens at 1?) and she NEVER called me. So I was SOL for my MRI help. I also filled out the form on the website, but the website was horrible and I wasn't able to submit the actual message. I stated that on the phone to the person, and they went "oh that's weird. I went to check today, it's still not working. Horrible horrible. Now I'm down $410 from less than a 10 min interaction. How this place is even having revenue is beyond me.
