It feels like modern rendition of Shakespeare's The Globe. I'm sure if traced back the architects lineage far enough, you'll find a connection. Every seat has a perfect view, which is a blessing for a short queen like me. I could see everything from every angle, including much of the audience (which is great entertainment if whatever you're watching is a bore). The staff were lovely (is it because they have good customer service skills, or because they're northern? Who knows). They also serve coffee. read more

I prefer the Lyceum to the Crucible it has a more cosy traditional feel to it. It really feels like a night out at the theatre, and the decor inside the theatre is amazing, look up at the ceiling the next time you are there. They have a good range of shows on and once you've booked tickets for one performance you automatically recieve the regular programmes of future performances. Don't forget to pre order you drinks for the intervals too. read more

The crucible theatre is in a great location in the centre of town. It is very affordable, especially if you go to a dress rehearsal or some lesser known show. They have a great choice of shows to see and it is really easy to book tickets over the phone or on the internet. Some of the seating is quite cramped and so you need to think carefully about where you choose to sit! read more

Reopened in 1990, the Lyceum hosts West End productions and operas by Opera North as well as locally produced shows. It is part of the Sheffield Theatres complex along with the neighbouring Crucible Theatre. It's got a great reputation and it gets lots of worthy performances, but for some reason I still prefer the ambience of the Crucible. read more

The seats can be a little uncomfortable, though this does have the more traditional feel than from the Crucible Theatre next door. The plays here tend to be more upmarket though there is a good selection of plays to see. The surroundings are very nice too, as are the facilities indoors. read more

There are plent of shows to see here from comedy to kids shows. Prices are resonable and there is such a wide range of shows to pick from. Inside the amenities are good and it very clean and well kept. read more

The best plays come to the Crucible and it is well worth the price - whatever it is. The seating isn't the most comfortable, but the intimacy of the theatre makes this such a great experience. I went to see As You Like It, and it was the best production I have ever been to - seating is right beside the stage and the atmosphere is brilliant. The cafe is nice too, and a bar area which is friendly and good for a chat. THis really is a gret experience. read more

A really pretty theatre which plays host to a lot of west end musicals. It's just the right size so most seats offer good views. Seats are a little uncomfortable, but you are only there for a few hours so it is not too bad! read more

The Lyceum is host to musicals, Operas, comedies & alsorts of other shows. I have been several times to see musicals & comedies & have found the place a delight. I have always been able to see everything dispite sitting at the very top or sides. The seats are quite close together so if you need leg room be sure to ask for this when booking. It is carpeted so if you have severe allergies perhaps this isn't the place for you. read more

A great place to watch musicals as it has good acoustics, and the view is good wherever you sit. There is always plenty on and appeals to everyone, from Jungle Book to the Producers to Joseph. There is a bar and you can pre order your drinks for the interval to save queing which i think is a great idea! It's located in the city centre which makes it easy to make a night out of your visit! read more

In a great location in the centre of town, and best known for hosting the snooker World Championships, the Crucible is a great little theatre. Currently undergoing a refurbishment, and I can't wait to see the place updated. A real gem. read more
