Two years ago I was rear-ended in my vehicle while I was stopped in a long line of stopped…read morevehicles. At that time I did what I felt was the correct procedures and exchanged information with the other party, took photos, and talked to the police etc. I was able to get home and call the insurance companies again to get started on what was required to repair the vehicle and also what steps I needed to see medical assistance. But I was overwhelmed with the amount of indifference, apathy and confusion created by both insurance companies. The insurance companies were good about taking care of my car but were not helpful in providing me with assistance in navigating through the maze of personal injury care. I was so frustrated in trying to get medical care. I heard statements like, " you need to talk to the other insurance company " and statements from medical profession such as" we do not offer third party coverage" were repeated over and over. Then the paperwork started to accumulate, often in language I had trouble deciphering. It was then that I called Kelley & Canterbury who took over the paperwork, handled the insurance so that I could receive the care I needed, and took the frustration away! My case lasted two years, and they provided assistance throughout the two years, handling all my insurance claims and paperwork. I was able to focus on healing and not the headaches of the paperwork maze. Thank you Chris and Michaela for the wonderful assistance in handling my case throughout these two years.

So to be fair I suffered a major stroke a little over a year ago hip replacement done and partial paralysis on my left side. I have to always weight my self notes to remember what to say or do for the next few days. I was in the hospital for 57 days. I am sorry there's no excuse why you can't call some one and tell them you can't Patrice law for the time being. All I got was an email saying I am on my own and I have to come up with a substantial amount of money for a private attorney. Really is this fair and to think I might just have to fold because of Ben's negligence of. Not communicating with me. Talk about being in the dark Ben I wish you well but you were wrong you can't be that sick to ware you couldn't give people a heads up. So after 5 years I was told I gave you more then enough evidence to ware this could have been done years ago. Now do you think it will be the same? Ben you hurt me very bad and no matter what you try to say I think between us you know I am correct. And the money I don't no what was spent and who know you could say you spent it all but 5 years dose no add up sorry all we could talk about were your kids hockey and there program I understand that but we really never shared my case so I am sorry I would not recommend you at all and I am not slandering you one bit or miss leading in any way I have the 4 email I only received and I have the phone records of all our 3 calls

Then, today I get contacted by the OPPOSING attorney, stating that Ben resigned due to a disability? Just wish I'd been given a quick call, text, or even a generic blanket email that informed me of my attorney no longer representing me on my case. This is the most unethical representation that I've ever experienced from a lawyer. If his health is truly that bad, my heart goes out to his family and I wish him nothing but the best and a recovery to full health. From a business perspective though, this is just totally unacceptable. Right is right and wrong is wrong, and there are other people out here, good people going through unfortunate circumstances, whom need help and guidance and THOUGHT that's what they were receiving and paying for.

Things you need to know about Evan:…read more -He's extremely responsive and ensures that you can reach him at any time- including after hours and on weekends  -He's well versed in Alaska family law and can give you realistic expectations for your case while also advocating for your best interest.  -He will not let the opposing party, or the judge, bully you into accepting something that isn't fairly in your best interest.  -He's thorough and detail-oriented. He will pay attention to the nuances of your case and won't allow things to fall through the cracks.  Now, my full review: I found Evan in August 2023 after being blindsided by an unexpected custody modification motion that was based on lies and hurtful accusations. I am in Illinois. My originally custody agreement was created in Alaska, albeit my child had never been in Alaska. Her father filed there for dissolution and was willing to give me full custody so the divorce was uncontested and child custody was wrongfully established in the wrong state. Evan responded to the motion to modify with a request to vacate the original custody order entirely- as it was wrongfully established. The judge denied our motion, but Evan was very confident that his ruling was wrong and offered the option of taking my case to the Supreme Court with a Petition for Review (similar to an appeal). After 10 months of fighting endless motions from the other side (all of which were filled with hurtful lies and damaging accusations), and having a hearing at the Supreme Court, my Petition for Review was granted and my original custody order in Alaska was vacated. My custody case is now in Illinois, the rightful jurisdiction. Throughout this entire time, Evan recieved almost weekly emails from me. Many custody disputes occurred between the opposing party and I. Evan responded to me promptly- including addressing emergencies on the weekends AND over the Thanksgiving holiday. He always gave honest advice and was empathetic to my complex and nerve-wracking situation. Although I have absolutely no legal education, when I brought case law or hypotheticals to his attention he willingly listened and provided further insight. He never made me feel as though I was wasting his time.  When Evan spoke to witnesses and professional advocates who work with my child he was courteous, respectful, and took notes of their concerns. He treated my case as if he was fighting for his own child and understood all of the intricacies involved.  He did all of this, while never meeting me in person. I fought this entire case, with his help, from my home in Illinois. We interacted through the phone and email. Even so, as my contract with Evan comes to a close, I can say with full honesty that Evan is the best lawyer I ever could have asked for. He genuinely cares for his clients. The cases he takes on, he puts 110% effort into. He is honest, professional, well-spoken, and extremely educated in Alaska law. In the unfortunate situation that I need an AK lawyer again in the future, Evan is the ONLY person I'll go to. If any of my friends or family in Alaska need a lawyer, Evan is the ONLY person I'd recommend. If anyone reading this review is wondering if they need to give Evan a call- I'll end my review, right now, so you can start dialing his number. In the midst of a heartbreaking family law case, having Evan by your side will be the best choice you make.

I had to handle my case roughly 4,000 miles away and I was nervous to say the least. I don't know many people in Anchorage so it wasn't like I could call around and ask friends if they knew anything about family law and take recommendations for lawyers. During one of the most stressful times in my life, I had to rely on google to lead me in the direction of a solid lawyer. I am so thankful that I didn't choose poorly. I cannot stress enough how happy I am with Evan's services. Truly. I called his office, completely unprepared to speak with a lawyer (because they usually don'y answer their own phones), and I told him all about my case. In the same conversation, he told me it would be complicated and that he couldn't guarantee an outcome (as they all say, but really, the outcome could've went either way), but that he would take the case. He worked for our winning outcome. The documents that he created were quality work that has received plenty of praise since. He is personable, communicates like a real person, and replies in a timely manner. He is a busy person, but you'd think he was only working for you with the way he discusses the case like it's his only priority. His efforts show through his work. Like I said before, the case was complicated. I remember going into the hearing and thinking, "no matter what happens, I'm glad I got to work with Evan because he really cared." We won. But I would give this same review regardless. He is good. More than good. Hire him.
