The space is large with an open, industrial feel. There are pool tables (now available to use), cornhole, a well-stocked full bar, big tables for groups, and a small stage for live performances. The vibe is completely casual and laid-back. That said, the lighting leans heavily industrial as well--bright and a bit harsh--though they dim it slightly later in the evening, which helps the atmosphere.
We've visited for a weekday dinner and stopped in on a weekend for cocktails. Service has been consistently good, both at the table and at the bar--friendly and attentive without being overbearing.
For dinner, we ordered the deviled eggs, a burger with slaw, and chicken fried steak with broccoli and mashed potatoes. The deviled eggs were the standout--flavorful and satisfying, though a touch heavy on the sauce. The burger and chicken fried steak were decent but nothing especially memorable. The mashed potatoes, however, were quite good. Overall, I wouldn't come strictly for the food, but it's solid enough if you're already there for the atmosphere, music, or drinks.
Now, the cocktails were a pleasant surprise. I ordered a Manhattan with Maker's Mark, and I was genuinely impressed. I wasn't sure a spot like this would even carry sweet vermouth, but not only did they have it--they did it right. Quality cherries and a large round ice cube sealed the deal. Finally, a place in town that can make a proper whiskey cocktail.
The live music, offered many nights, is a huge draw for me and really elevates the experience.
Between the strong cocktail program and the live entertainment, RoCo Social earns a solid four stars in my book.
