Honestly, my visit here was very disappointing, especially considering it was my birthday dinner!…read moreDon't get me wrong, there's absolutely nothing wrong with the atmosphere or the customer service - both of which were lovely. The main bone I have to pick with Greenhouse Inn was the food that was borderline inedible. First some background information about my relationship with mashed potatoes.... I LOVE THEM. I love high quality mashed potatoes. I love what would be considered gross powdered instant mashed potatoes, frozen meals, it doesn't really matter to me. Mashed potatoes are probably my favourite food and I'm not picky when it comes to them at all. That should provide you with some context then as to why I'm so frustrated with Greenhouse Inn. They got it so completely wrong. Food: I ordered Sausages & Mash for nearly £8. 2 sausages with mash and onion gravy. The sausages were outrageously overcooked - dry and the outside really tough to chew through. The mashed potatoes were very crumbly, as if they didn't add a single drop of liquid while mashing to bring the whole thing together. The texture was literally if you had a potato and you mashed it without adding any butter or milk. Did they just forget the most fundamental ingredients which separates mashed potatoes with boiled potatoes you just break apart or something? It certainly tasted like it did. The gravy was really bad as well. It tasted like one of those bland gravies that you get from a packet at the supermarket adding absolutely nothing in it. There was no taste whatsoever. My go-to favourite meal of Bangers & Mash at any restaurant was a complete dud at this place. The only saving grace of the meal was the ice cream I ordered for dessert - but that was a branded ice cream made elsewhere so they get 0 credit for that one. --- How incredibly disappointing. For £8, I'm expecting a bit more than overcooked sausage, bland gravy, and crumbled potatoes. Like I said, don't get me wrong the waitress was lovely and so was the decor of the place. However, the food was pretty much inedible. Please, never again.

I would say The Ashbridge Inn is closer to 3.5 stars, but it leans closer to 4 stars than 3. We…read morecame with a group of 5 and overall we had a pretty great time. ~ Atmosphere: The ambiance at The Ashbridge Inn is fairly standard. It's clean, large, and has a "homely pub" feel to it. One positive is that the restrooms are really clean and well maintained. They have a great balance between being casual, but not too trashy (if you come for a special occasion you wouldn't feel as though you're overdressed). ~ Customer Service: The one downside is that I felt the food took quite a while to arrive. However, the waiters were very attentive and came by often to check on us to see if we wanted any drink refills. He was also quite happy to help take a photo of our group! Can't fault the waitstaff at all since they were very friendly, I just wish the kitchen staff sped things up a bit. It wasn't horribly busy when we arrived either so there really was no excuse. ~ Food: We had a Table Table Sharing Platter to start for £8.99 which included breaded mushrooms, calamari, onion rings, garlic bread, chicken goujons, coleslaw, and a choice of 2 dips (we picked blue cheese and sour cream) - All of it was pretty decent, though to be honest was a bit overpriced for the portion sizes. I especially enjoyed the calamari (one of the favourites!) which were really well cooked. For my main, I ordered Smithfield Sausage and Mash for £8.99. I found it absolutely delicious, and I'm really picky when it comes to my bangers and mash! The roasted red onions they had on top added a very flavourful touch. The meal was very filling as well, I only wish they gave me more gravy! --- Overall, I had a great meal and a great time at The Ashbridge. The downsides were: - A bit overpriced for what you get on some items. I thought the sausages and mash were well worth it, but the prices for drinks and the sharing platter were too much, in my opinion. - Food take way too long to arrive. Still, I would be very happy to come back!

For mains the chicken and bacon with melted cheese was dry and tasteless, and the cheese was a sub par slice of processed cheese, the ribeye steak my partner has, tasted like it was seasoned in a fisherman's sock after a 12 hour period on deck. The chips tastes like they had gone I to town and bought strait from KFC. I am writing this before we have had desert but I am not holding out much hope... If you want a good family meal DO NOT COME HERE... goto the crows nest or harvester you will have better food and reasonable service.
