My son and I were able to use the room for what it was for...to rest. The staff were REALLY nice and accommodating, especially after placing us in a room that was occupied. Once we got our own room, the room had a damp odor and visible mold spors that negatively affected our breathing (we are both asthmatic). We couldn't have another room because the place was booked and we didn't have options. Thankfully, the condition of the room is the only complaint that I have.

Room was filthy, outdated, obnoxious odor and hair was all over the bedding. Unacceptable for a IHG property.

Bathtub needs to be cleaned better or to be reglazed

We revisited the area and my cousin booked the hotel before I could give my thoughts. I refused to stay again, however, I visited her room and it was disgusting! I'm actually wondering if they have people come clean the rooms. There was used tissue at the head of the bed. It's definitely something that does not get missed if the sheets are changed properly.

I like the layout, with cabinets I can open to see everything I have, or close to hide it. This works a lot better than drawers for me. I found the bed more comfortable than Hilton's for some reason. The staff here are absolute gems - helpful, knowledgeable, kind and welcoming. Their service made my time here exponentially better!

I wasn't sure what to expect from some of the reviews but I was warmly greeted when I arrived and asked what welcome gift I wanted. I chose the breakfast voucher. I was provided a bottle of water and given a layout of the hotel and even restaurant recommendations. The clerk saw that I had a feather free room request so put me in a feather free room on the 4th floor in the Dogwood Wing. So this saved me from sneezing all night and was much appreciated. The hotel is older but my room appeared updated and was clean. I could tell it was well maintained. The hotel is far enough away from I-40 that I did not hear any highway noise and got a wonderful night of sleep. Noise did start in the morning from construction next door but that is out of the hotel's control and I was awake at that point. So it didn't start too early. My room had a mini fridge and microwave. The water pressure was good. I liked the safety grab bar in the shower as I did almost slip on the PVC floor when it was a little wet. The hotel has a pool and hot tub as well as an exercise room but I wasn't there long enough to use either. I didn't care for the breakfast but service was friendly. I will skip that on my return visit on Friday. I was originally booked at the Fairfield as the Marriott site wouldn't let me book just a night at Courtyard but when I checked again it did. Since I was concerned with traffic noise I decided to do another night here as I enjoyed my stay and felt welcome by the staff. Second Stay: Check in was friendly but I wasn't given a bottle of water. I was put in the Cardinal Wing on the top floor and could slightly hear the traffic at times but the fan covered up any noise. The hotel was full or almost this stay so there was hallway noise and someone woke me up at 7am, so more soundproofing would have been appreciated. But I do like this hotel and will return again.

An old mill space with a second lease on life, now holds various shops, restaurants, and the Crossing, a big event venue that obviously hosts some concerts but looks like it'd make a great wedding venue, too. We grabbed dinner at Highland Avenue just across the way before the show (review for them to follow) and then wandered over for the concert. The Crossing has a decent bar with a couple beers on draft as well as some bottles/cans and wine. You can leave the venue with your drink and hang out on the upstairs patio/balcony area. A nice spot to get some fresh air and have a conversation without screaming over the tunes. The acoustics weren't great for the Wood Brothers -- LOTS of feedback -- and it's all general admission. There are some benches with enough seating for about 10-15 people around the edge of the room. We stood in a few different spots all around the venue and I had a hard time seeing everywhere. While it was a sold out show, it didn't feel too crazy packed. All in all, it's a pretty venue in a cool spot but the acoustics and limited visibility make it a tough spot to enjoy a concert.

The crowd was very alive, I can say that much...! I thought the overall venue atmosphere was neat, although I didn't care for the draperies hanging from the ceiling (just not my style). The only reason I didn't give 4 stars is because the beer selection was HORRIBLE. We are talking basic, gross (to me) beers: Coors Light (maybe??), Miller Lite, that genre. Two beers on tap, but also bad. No IPAs or dark beers or selection at all. Really irritated me, especially because there are tons of great breweries in our state, and Hickory is situated between many of them. I saw signage for the Blowing Rock Brewery and regret not going there for a pre-show brew.
