Great location near good restaurants and Queen street shops. A short 15 minute walk to the harbour and nightlife. Efficient staff and garage parking are convenient. They do a great job of greeting past guests. Clean rooms and comfy bed, though on the soft side 24 hour gym is well equiped for cardio and weight training, along with a sauna. This is specifically a review of Tene Hana, the Japanese restaurant, not the hotel itself. It was late night and raining the evening I came. I wanted to walk there, but the rain was really bad, so I took an Uber. I got their 40 minutes before closing. They were already pre closing the restaurant. I went to order the tempura and Zara soba set. The lady at the counter told me they were closed and tried to refuse me service. I was upset. I told her that o got there 40 minutes before their stated closing time (online and on the store front) And that I traveled I. The train to get there (it was close to 9p and I was hungry). The lady went to the kitchen and talked to the chef in Japanese. She seemed reluctant and embarrassed and took my order. The food was really good though! Terrible service though! After that, she wouldn't look directly at me and made a point to clean everything around me, basically hoping I would hurry up. (I wasn't the only person in the restaurant though)! read more

My wife and I were on vacation in Auckland in November of 2023. We had a Delta Vacation package, where we had five nights at the Crowne Plaza. We checked in just fine and our room had a good size king bed with a nice view of downtown. The bathroom was good size with plenty of water pressure and hot water. The fridge was really good size and help all of our beverages. We were on the 21st floor and they had a cool glass elevator that took us up with a great view of downtown from that high up. I wish they had a pool, but we were pretty pooped after walking over ten miles most days. There is a grocery store a block away and the Sky Tower is right across the street, great location! read more

One of the best IHG hotels I've stayed at. I have primarily stayed in Holiday Inn Express in the US, but I will definitely include Crowne Plaza hotels as part of my regular considerations. Rooms were spacious and modern. Beds were large (I think queen size) and comfortable. Large bench to spread your luggage and bags. Plenty of outlets and USB chargers at the bedside.This was my last hotel stay and it was the perfect way to end my trip. I would definitely book this place again when I come back to New Zealand. Their breakfast is speechless, so many options. THEY HAVE A FRUIT JUICE!!!! Not gonna lie, I made like 3 juices all in one morning. Out of all the hotels I've ever stayed at, this is the first place that offered fruit juicer. They also have a chef cooking eggs to your liking. This hotel is an excellent location in Auckland city. It is close to the Auckland Sky Tower (depending on your room, you might get a beautiful day and night view), SkyCity Casino, and plenty of shops. It is also on the same block of Sky Screamer Reverse Bungy. read more

We stayed here 3 nights in December. First, location: The hotel is located in the central business district in downtown. Great location a few blocks from the water. The Skytower is across the street. Plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby. Second, atmosphere: this hotel seems like a convention hotel. It's large and the lobby is welcoming and seems a bit outdated. We had a regular queen room on the 23rd floor. We could see the SkyTower from our window in the room The room was a nice size and well appointed with slippers, robes and mini bar. No bidet in bathroom. It would be great if IHG would add bidets to their en-suite bathrooms, even if just the handheld feature. Third, service: did not try any of the food so can't comment on that. The front desk personnel acknowledged IHG elite program status and explained all the benefits that applied. At check-in I mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary on this trip and the staff kindly had a bottle of sparkling wine delivered to the room. Outstanding gesture! Overall, although it is outdated and could use remodeling, it's in a great location and I would stay again. read more

What an unexpected pleasure to stay here. I'm a little tardy in preparing this review, as my wife and I enjoyed our six night visit this past June. I travel extensively, primarily in the U.S., but also quite a bit internationally, and yet I have typically only sought to stay at the top tier InterContinental within the IHG Group, in addition to various other international chain brands. However, as a result of this most positive experience, I have now included Crowne Plaza hotels as part of my regular consideration. The service extended to me both before check-in, and then during my visit was exemplary on all accounts. Prior to arrival, I had extensive email communication with the concierge and bell desk to arrange for an international UPS delivery. And, they scheduled much needed hair salon appointments and other personal services for both my wife and me for our first day in Auckland. Being a Platinum member within the IHG brand, reception extended the courtesy of a generous room upgrade. And throughout our visit, as one expects (but frequently doesn't get), staff was friendly and most accommodating in dining room, lounge areas and reception. We definitely look forward to returning to this property in Auckland!!! read more

The Crowne Plaza is a very nice large modern hotel. It is very centrally located. Its staff are nice, friendly and helpful. The room has a large desk, loads of electrical outlets, an iHome Bluetooth clock radio, shower/bath with good water pressure, couch, aromatherapy drops (which I did not use).... There is a very well equipped fitness center that is open 24 hours a day. It has two each of rowing machines, ellipticals, stationary bikes and treadmills. Exercise machines, free weights, balls, mats, etc. There are also saunas. The breakfast buffet is excellent with many choices. There is an omelet station, cappuccinos and other coffees, a wide selection of teas including many loose ones and tea pots, lots of fruit choices, cereals, various nuts, lots of pastries, muffins and good banana bread, good breads including tasty whole grain ones, low fat and soy milk, a juicer/smoothie machine with vegetables, ginger, etc. to use in it. One morning there was salad, smoked salmon and curried vegetables but not the other day. Be careful if you get up from your table to get something, though, as the staff are too quick to clear things- we had our nearly full plates removed with all the food wasted. Note: You need to use your key card to get the elevator [lift] to go up. There is also a business center with computers and a printer. The hotel's restaurant is called Aria. The food and service are okay. The only complaint I would have is the Hapuka fish [$34] was much too salty. There is salt on the table, people can always add it, but you can't take it out so restaurants should be careful not to overdo it. The roast vegetables [$9] were very good- I recommend them. The carrot and cauliflower soup of the day [$18] served with sourdough bread and the farro salad [$19.50] were fine. There are plenty of wine choices with a glass $12 and up. If you are an IHG member they take 10% off the bill. read more

The location was conveniently located close to restaurants, shops and activities. In fact, there was an indoor shopping mall in the hotel building. The room was spacious, and the bed was comfortable. Except for the location there in nothing impressive about it. It's all ok but very basic. It seems like the type of hotel tour groups stay in (and there were many) The breakfast was more of the same meaning nothing great just mehhh, the coffee was gross, the omelet could not be adjusted (pre mixed) and below average everything else. read more

This renovated hotel is very nice. The bed is very comfortable, tv and channel selection is quite accommodating, nice mini bar and supplied toiletries. Great location. Great Staff. Terribly noisy. Every conversation in the hall. The neighbors TV. Every door slam. The neighbors door slam shakes my bed every time. And this is on the Quiet Zone floor. They put a family with a pack of kids who run up and down the halls screaming on this floor. What's the point of a quiet floor if you're going to do that? They need softer closing doors with more insulation for sound. read more

We stayed for 3 nights before a cruise and the staff was wonderful. The front desk agent sent a bottle of wine for our 30th anniversary. We had brought our adult (college age) son and they arranged for a roll away bed. When we had booked we did not plan to bring him but the staff was very helpful in accommodating us. We stayed at the Crowne Plaza Auckland as part of the Covid-19 government managed isolation programme. We felt comfortable and well taken care of, and would definitely stay here again in our post Covid-19 travel world. We were lucky enough to be assigned a room on the 25th floor. The view is great and highlights the central location - I can see the Aotea Centre, the harbour, the University of Auckland, AUT, the Auckland Museum, the Town Hall, the Civic, and the hospital. The new train station is being built just outside the front door. We have two adjoining rooms for a family of four. One room has a king sized bed, the other two queens. The beds are comfortable, the black out blinds are effective, and we've slept well. I like the use of fresh sheets over and under the duvet, rather than a heavy cover that might not get washed after each stay. The rooms are spacious and contain a good sized area for beverage preparation, storage for luggage, a full desk with adjustable office chair, and a comfortable couch. The wide windowsill is a useful extra work, eating, or sitting surface. I like being able to open windows for fresh air. Our room was clean. There is a little wear and tear (at some point someone - presumably a small child - has drawn lightly with crayon on the wall under the desk, and some wallpaper is peeling away by the windows) which is the only reason why I didn't give this the full 5 stars. There was a good selection of tea bags, as well as instant coffee, and hot chocolate sachets. The shower water pressure is excellent, the toiletries are good quality ('This Works'), the bathroom ventilation takes a bit of time to clear shower steam but does a good job in the end, and the hairdryer is very effective. The staff is kind, professional, and very responsive - requests for additional towels, tissue, soap, etc were met very quickly. Check in was seamless. The WiFi is excellent and was plenty for one adult working remotely and two children (12 and 13) in remote school. Extra touches, such as daily activity sheets for kids and a treat bag with details of TV coverage of the All Blacks game on Bledisloe Cup game day, were lovely. Thank you to the staff of the Crowne Plaza Auckland for making us feel safe and well taken care of for our managed isolation! I recommend this hotel for your post Covid-19 travel needs. read more

This will probably be my go-to hotel in the CBD, if only for the awesome buffet breakfast. I'm sure I could have shopped around and found a slightly lower rate, but I did my best to eat back any excess charges along the way. The location is awesome, with tons of restaurants within walking distance, and there's even an Asian food court in the basement. Forgot your socks, or a toothbrush? Not to worry, there's a Warehouse in the lower level as well. Neat place with great service, and one that's worth repeat business. read more

Stayed here for one night after the long-haul from the US to NZ. Great location in Auckland and easy to get to with the $16NZ airport bus. We arrived a bit before 8am and they let us have the room early (I know this isn't always possible, but it was definitely nice of them to be accommodating when the room is available). This hotel is in a great location for the city sights. Not far along Albert Street is the Sky Tower, with many shops and Queen Street within walking distance also. The hotel itself is a little disappointing. The lobby has no natural light - it seems buried in the back of a retail lobby. The Club rooms are nicely situated on levels 26-28 and they are well appointed. The Club, however, leaves a little to be desired. It sits with doors wide open all day but if you visit outside breakfast hours or happy hour, there is nobody to assist or serve you. Their offerings are a little limited as they are unable to provide hot food in the Club, so if you are after a cooked breakfast you need to go down to the restaurant in the lobby to get it (or order from there and wait 20 mins for it to be delivered to level 28). Same goes for dinner, nothing hot is available but you can order from the room service or restaurant menu and it can be delivered there. Don't get me wrong, the range of cold food for breakfast and happy hour is very good - fresh, nicely prepared and tasty. The service is marvellous, with all staff members being fabulously friendly, respectful and responsive - going out of their way to assist. The Club atmosphere and view is nice also. Great stay and very friendly staff. On our way to the hotel, we were ripped off by our cab driver who took the long way around town to get us to the hotel. We took down all the cab information and brought it to the attention of the concierge. Corrina at the desk took it upon herself to call the cab company on our behalf to file a complaint. When were returned to the hotel after a short walk around the city, she informed us that she was unable to get us any kind of refund but had spoken with the cab company who stated that they were not proud of what happened. She then went above and beyond any expectations and arranged return travel back to the airport for us free of charge. We were blown away by this. Sadly we were leaving town on a cruise ship and were not in need of the return trip to the airport. After Corrina learned of our travel plans she arranged an alternate amenity for us at the hotel for which we are grateful. We never expected anything from her in the first place as being overcharged was not her fault or the fault of the hotel in the first place. Thank you again Crown Plaza and Corrina for taking exceptional care of us on our journey! read more
