Was here a couple of days ago with my husband who was looking for a fleece neck gator for skiing…read more It's quite a big place with all kinds of recreational and sporting goods. For my shopping "tastes", this store is just too vast and overwhelming. It is a sea of merchandise. Well organized yes but just way too much stuff to take in. Despite all the "stuff" I didn't see bargains of any note...in fact...and this could just be me ...but I was astonished to see Nike women's sweatpants for $110.00. That seems like a lot of dough to lay out for sweatpants. I'd skip the name brand and the Nike logo and look for another deal. Better yet, don't wear sweatpants unless you're in the gym or running outside on a cold day as I am not sure who they are flattering on and I am so over seeing people running around everywhere in ill-fitting sloppy looking gym-wear. But for the gym-goers, and exercisers of all kinds, you will find all manner of clothing and equipment here...a fairly comprehensive seeming selection whatever your sport of choice might be. They also sell, t-shirts, specialized sports' shoes, lots of coolers and water bottles including the in my opinion ridiculous looking and now viral Stanley water bottles that everyone seems to be lugging around...tons of those! (I just read that in California there is a class action suit pending on these Stanley water bottles as the company has acknowledged the sealing material used for its vacuum insulation contains lead). I didn't see many staff throughout the store. The staff I did see seemed to be congregating up front so if I had had a question there would have been no one to ask without traipsing back up to the front where the registers are. And in a store as large as this, that's a pain. There are so many other places to get most of the things sold here but with better service and for me, with a more manageable store footprint and experience. If I'm not going to get a bargain, I'd rather spend my money at a smaller store with attentive service. Tom didn't find the neck gator he was looking for so we left without purchasing anything but for me, I can't imagine why I'd return.

The Hanover Crossing mall in Hanover has been in the midst of a major and much needed makeover for…read morethe last few years. The construction is nearing completion and has turned an old-fashioned mostly indoor mall of years past into a more modernized version of an outside shopping center with stores having their own buildings accessed from well manicured outdoor sidewalks with plenty of parking in the middle of it all. While not as charming as the Derby Street Shops which underwent a similar makeover about 15 years ago, but still nice and certainly much improved from the dated mess that was there previously. This latest L.L. Bean outpost has recently opened and I paid it a visit a few days ago. It is certainly big, bright and well-organized although of course not nearly as mammoth and wonderful as the original satellite store in Freeport Maine. But I am pleased to have this location so close by. As with everything everywhere prices have gone up on much of the tried and true L.L. Bean merchandise and products are no longer made in the USA. Most things it seems at L.L. Bean have been outsourced to China which continues to be a disappointment. I miss the days of the USA made products that could once be found here. But there are reasons still to shop at L.L. Bean. I am a decades long fan of their Ragg wool socks for example which I wear throughout the winter. They are very warm, comfortable and last a long time. I am also a big fan of their canvas tote bags and I cannot tell you how many of those I own. I keep at least 4 of them in my car at all times as they are the bags I bring with me to go to the supermarket and to the farmers market, etc. They are my beach and boat tote bags as well. They are sturdy, strong, can be machine washed and dried and they last for years. And they are fun to have monogrammed with initials or any word or phrase up to 10 characters. I also love the L.L. Bean H2O rain coat and H2O rain jacket I own which both have hoods and zip-out liners. These are so good at keeping me warm dry in the rain that I no longer use an umbrella (I hate umbrellas so this is a big win!). I am looking to get a new H2O rain jacket so when I am ready, I'm glad to be able to get it here. My husband just found very nice, warm pair of leather gloves here in a men's size XL. He is a big guy and has such trouble finding XL gloves with long enough fingers so this was good news. Nothing of course will meet the shopping experience and scope of the original Freeport Maine store but I am very happy to have this store nearby for easy access.

By far the worst experience I have ever had with any business! Please stay far away from this…read moreplace! We had planned to rent seasonal snowboards for our two young boys who are both less than 40 pounds (which means they would need a 90cm snowboard). I called and inquired if they had 90 cm snowboards and was told that they do. We immediately went in to get our seasonal rentals. We filled out all of the information (including height and weight), paid for our rentals, and were told they would be ready in two weeks. To my surprise, I received an email a week later saying our rentals were ready. However, due to our schedule, we could not get in that weekend to pick them up. So, the following weekend, we showed up to pick up our rentals (both of my boys were so excited), only to find out that they were not actually ready. When I inquired as to why I was sent an email saying they were ready. I was given vagueness and "I don't know". We were told that they would definitely be ready the next day. So, we show up the next day to be handed two boards over 100cm. Anyone in the industry would know that this is WAY too large for a child that is under 40 pounds. However, I am being told by Ilene, that going off of height and weight, this is fine and how their measurement works. This is incorrect and can be dangerous! I was given no apology, refusal to listen to what I had to say, and complete and utter rudeness from Ilene. And, unfortunately for us, we waited around for two weeks being told lie after lie from this company, and now we have no rentals and probably will have a very difficult time finding rentals now as we have waited so long. Please, for the safety of your children (or yourself) and definitely for your sanity, STAY AWAY FROM BUCKLES AND BOARDS!

I have large extra wide feet and they have always had at least a few options for me to try. Last year the owner, I think his name is John told me I need to consider buying at least a pair of boots to take my skiing to the next level. Well I did and he was right, so I went in recently to buy my own skis to go with the boots and got an awesome post season deal on a pair of Blizzard skis. While I was there I was surprised at the amount of summer stuff they had. They even have these cool inflatable kayaks
