Its a family run business and the the owners are friendly and always happy to chat. It's a great place to sit and read the papers with a coffee or hot chocolate and watch the world go by. They have a good selection of home made cakes, fresh food, and they are fully licensed if you fancy a slightly stronger tipple. Wednesdays is student night, Thursdays is over 30's night and they have a number of events planned for the up and coming future, including wine tasting, a psychic night and speed dating. This place is my local. It's one of the quieter stores in Brighton. You don't need to line up for three years to get your coffee and the staff are really really nice. I once told the girl behind the counter that I was going to make a formal complaint because they stopped doing their christmas eggnog ... She looks shocked but actually laughed it off! Since then we have a little joke about eggnog lattes! I use this place to also do some work, so it's a good place to just get some stuff done. But obviously only come here to work if you can deal with the noise of other people!

I try to avoid giving my money to corporates where possible, but I do like Starbucks coffee! I've managed to get a comfy sofa to sit on with a couple of tables and have spread myself out. I've never fancied the food from Starbucks, but today I decided to go for a Pulled Pork and Bean Panini - I wasn't expecting it to be anything amazing but I was genuinely surprised at how good it was! A little on the pricey side at £4.29 for something that isn't made fresh, but I was hungry. This Starbucks is always busy, It's probably the nicest of the Starbucks in Brighton.

My partner and I stopped by here on a Sunday morning for a coffee break and we sat on the unique garden patio just outside the cafe. They provide books, newspapers and games here to pass time while enjoying a drink. I noticed that they also had a retro video game on the side for customers to play with if interested. We ordered a Mocha and an Americano which was decent and did the job to energise us for the rest of the day. Might try and come back here to check out the vintage shop during the week as they were closed on Sunday.

It's fairly well hidden in the North Laines, as it's a few laines down from the busy streets, but when you find it once, you'll find yourself wanting to hide back there again. The sandwich was goats cheese and was really delicious, with very crispy bread and beautiful fillings. The brownie, too, did not disappoint! It has been one of the better brownies I've tasted around Brighton of late - sticky, gooey and just right! It was very chololatey, though, and by no means small so it's a possible sharer, if you don't have quite as much of a sweet tooth as I do. The place itself is dinky, but cosy and comfortable still. The food selection was great for a cafe of this size, and they even catered for vegan and gluten-free diets by the looks of it. There was even...wait for it... free wifi! Hurrah! This is always a bonus, in my books, so it was a rather great find, on top of my delicious lunch. Tucked away in one of the busier lanes, this place could be easy to miss, but next time you're wandering around, keep your eyes peeled and pop in for some cake or a sandwich!

It was pretty close to closing so too late for me to have coffee, we tried the iced tea instead. Plus their iced tea was made from rooibos so caffeine free! I'm really glad we got the tea as it was so refreshing on that hot day! Sweet, floral, with a nice balance of citrus. And of course the barista put in a lot of ice to make it cold. The perfect summer drink if you're looking for something other than coffee. I wish we had room to try their delicious looking cakes and treats, there are so many to choose from and I always love cafes that have a range of food options. The cafe is two floors and we sat upstairs. The window let in a lot of sunlight with two cute painted murals on the back wall framing the window. A very nice space, I had an enjoyable time sitting and relaxing here. The only downside is they have no wifi. But overall a lovely cafe in a great location.

Perfect position to pop in for break while shopping or to meet a friend for a quick cuppa. It has outdoor seating in the summer overlooking the activities on the square. Atmosphere is relaxed with some leather sofas in far end of the shop. Coffee choice is great, americano, espresso, latte you name it they have it. Soya milk and skimmed milk on request. I really like the iced coffee they do, I tend to have that in the summer when I want something refreshing but need the buzz. Snacks available are crisps, pannins, croissants, muffins and a few cakes.
