Since his passing and now that both my son's have graduated college, I decided that it was time to take this step. It is very important to have confidence in the plane you leave the ground with as well as your instructor. The planes Troy Air has and the instructors are top notch! I was never rushed or felt unsafe at any time. The skills and conference they gave me allowed me to score a 95 on my written test and my FAA check ride went off without a hitch. I highly recommend Troy Air and thank them for the opportunity to reach my dream. I wish I would have done it sooner.

I came her to take a test administered on behalf of PSI and had a pretty crummy experience. I was…read moretold to arrive far in advance of my testing time, which I did....and then I had to wait 20 minutes for the administrator to arrive. When they arrived they were a bit curt with me for being so early! Then the computers took a long time to run the testing program so I continued to wait. Finally I was able to take the test and it was in a dim room adjacent to a garage where they work on planes--not exactly the best setting to focus on an exam. They provide foam earplugs just in case the noise of mechanical work being done on planes bothers you while you are trying to read...I really wish I had put them in before I was subjected to a series of belches (which were loud enough to be heard over the plane work!!!). I passed my test, and it wasn't like I was losing my mind trying to work on it, but this was easily the weirdest place I've ever taken a test and definitely not very conducive to test-taking for people who need a little more peace to focus.

What blast! Surprised my wife on our 58th anniversary with the Detroit Tour. A helicopter sight-seeing tour was the way to go! For over a month, I had emailed back and forth with Alan the owner of Magnum Helicopters, and he was more than willing to answer ANY questions I had as a first time flyer. It was an amazing experience, with an amazing perspective on places I've seen thousands of times. I cannot even count how many times I must have said "Wow!" during the flight. Absolutely breathtaking experience!
