It's free, it's monthly, it's upbeat, and I find myself looking forward to new issues. I am not aware of any other local publications that focus on women, and it's nice to be able to pick up a paper full of essays that range from pleasant to touching. They did have a recent feminist issue. My opinion is somewhat slanted (I have often wondered in frustration why "feminist" is stigmatized here), so I have to admit that this really cemented my loyalty as a reader. Reading Skirt! is a great hour-long escape!

I just left one last night that was taken place in Dunwoody..yup yup FREE yet again. ;-) The look and feel of Jezebel makes you want'a read and explore what's inside that's for sure. I consider it an easy read magazine compared to most. You are updated with the latest hotness in the city and you can find out the most loved events that are partaken around the city of Atlanta. The magazine also focuses on celebrities, chefs, authors, designers, musicians, business owners, a food and drink guide and fashion and beauty, books, and travel but unlike many other city publications features models, not celebrities on the cover. I usually skips over advertisements but even the ads printed in the Atlantan are colorful and appealing, When I travel to other cities I find it more difficult to find localized Modern Luxury publications. Of course always grabbed a copy of Creative Loafing to check out cool events that I couldn't attend because I was underage and or had no driver's licence. Fast forward a few decades and CL is still one of my favorite sidekick for what is cool, interesting and or off beat for this city of mine. Besides letting you know what's worthy of checking out in this fine city of the south they also have great short fiction written by local talents. We shouldn't be surprised that there are so many talented local writers in this city. After all this is the city of Gone With The Wind and telling stories to each other is as natural as sweet tea and fried okra baby! For the past 10+ years or more my favorite reason to get the CL is the legendary epicurean Cliff Bostock. He was a foodie before most of us were even born! Whether it's Waffle House or some foo foo restaurant where they serve you food the size of a half dollar and then have the nerve to charge you half a Benjamin for it. There are some very talented writers at Creative Loafing, and my hat goes off to them for the remarkable job that they do on a weekly basis. Undoubtedly the best Newspaper that Atlanta has to offer. Not to mention, they are free. Which is nice because I would never pay for something that wastes millions of trees anyways. I can't wait until there is no such thing as a newspaper actually. Our generation no longer needs it, considering we are ushering in the digital information age. Get with the times you small minded journalists, and quit throwing that dumb Buyer Savings newspaper in my driveway that I repeatedly told you to stop giving me.

They provide great lists of top businesses in different industries with information about its chief officers, years in business, number of employees, and total revenue. An annual survey is conducted to rate Atlanta's top companies to work for and it's quite an honor for a company to win in their category. The Chronicle is published every Friday and is available at most bookstores. I get my copy from Publix (of course) and delivery subscriptions are available.

This is a lifestyle pub and they keep it pretty light and shiny. Lots of ads, but that's pretty standard for a regional magazine like this. When I was looking up their website for their phone number, I was surprised to find out that Atlanta Magazine has been around since 1961. Considering how much of Atlanta is relatively brand spanking new, I couldn't believe a local magazine could be 45 years old.
