All they have to do is ask how the medicine is working. If things are going well, they can just prescribe more and that's the end of the session. If things aren't going well, they can make other suggestions and prescribe other meds. Dr. Rickenbacker always asked me how things were going, how my job was, etc. She actually cared about my life outside of the medicine she was prescribing. She was also always up to date on the latest research and had me trying out the latest medicines. She was actually a bit creative in that regard and could recommend things that weren't necessarily what every other psychiatrist was prescribing. In the end, her knowledge and her ability to think outside the box is what found a medicine that worked for me. I always scheduled my next appointment with her after my session was over, so I usually didn't have any problems, but I do remember her being hard to schedule with if I had to cancel. She does frequently run over her session times, but I always made sure to schedule plenty of time off work to see her, so it never interfered with anything for me. On days she was running late, I never felt like she rushed through my session to try to catch up. I realize these are big drawbacks, but she is really worth it. The only reason I don't see her anymore is because she no longer takes my insurance.

I have yet to recieve a call back. Followup (03/26): I did recieve a call after sixteen business days however, their services were no longer required. UPDATE!!! Five years later now. My new insurance has strong armed me into leaving my current physician. I decided to give Denae a second chance, given her close proximity to my office. Nearly the same issues again! It was difficult to reach someone, although easier than in 2012. They are currently only accepting new patients by referral which seems odd. I tried to play the game, having my doctor fax over Denae's required form which feels more like an application/screening. After numerous attempts, Denae's office denied receiving the form. My very generous current physician even made multiple attempts to call her office but could not get through to a live person. It appears the poor client service is a cornerstone for Denae's practice.

After about another 20 or so minutes she said we need to wrap up, we discussed if Thursdays at a specific time worked for me and I said no. I am traveling the following week and usually have HS commitments Thursdays and Fridays. She has in office days of T & TH and W was virtual. So Tuesdays was mentioned by Bonnie at a specific time and I said wonderful! That works. She walked me out and brought in her next appointment. I left. Tuesday (today), I show up 15 minutes before our scheduled time... handled some business on my phone while I waited. 20 minutes later, I sent her text to remind her I was waiting in the lobby for her and one, didn't recognize my number (ok, I am newer patient) two said "Your appointment is Thursday @ Time. I am home doing virtual today". I texted back, "We changed it because I am traveling on Thursday" I then texted "So you are not here? I am not happy. I am leaving". She texted "I am only in office on T & TH so I am never there on Wednesdays. I am sorry for the miscommunication and I certainly understand why you are upset". I texted back "I was in your office today, TUESDAY. I am not happy. I can not do Thursdays. I stated that, we agreed Tuesdays.... Today is Tuesday not Wednesday " She then went on about she would try to open up Tuesdays, etc. I just don't feel confident in her abilities to LISTEN and take down details about my sessions. Just really confirm your next appointments with Bonnie. She seems sweet and caring but... I can supply screen shots of our conversation, but don't feel it is necessary. thank you.

All of my sessions were amazing. One was a bit disorienting but overall they left me feeling great joy and contentment. I have one suggestion that might alleviate some patients' anxiety about the infusions: perhaps providing a list of responses and reactions that patients have felt during their sessions in the on-boarding process. Something like "you may experience any or more of the following during your session (list). Just remember that you are safe and you can let go and embrace the feelings you encounter." I have already reached out to several friends and colleagues recommending Klarisana. Thank you for helping me to help make myself a better person.

I thought that would forever be my worst story of therapy gone wrong, of a therapist superimposing their own beliefs and issues on me. Diana hit a new record. She "fired" me as a client and pulled wildly unethical moves before doing so. I wholly believe that there is a time to part ways when therapy isn't serving the client or when a client is rejecting help from the therapist to everyone's detriment. Therapists have just as much of a right to end the relationship as clients do. The reason I'm writing this has nothing to do with the farewell and everything to do with how it was handled. I have an eating disorder. I made it clear from the start that I didn't care that she didn't specialize in them. I'd had enough therapy around eating disorders and wanted to take a new approach. I also told her in our first session that if she thought it wasn't a fit to have open communication because I would be doing so. I've played the "suffer through a relationship that isn't working" game too much at this point in therapy. We had weekly sessions for months. I thought many of them were helping. But then I told her how many calories I consumed during the week. That was undeniably the point where she flipped. We talked for a month or so more. She started talking to my dietician more. That seemed logical to me. And then she started telling my therapist I needed to go to treatment. Asking her why she hadn't suggested it or wasn't pushing it on me. (She has.) I am in no way a high risk anorexic. Perhaps treatment wouldn't hurt but my life right now prioritizes above something that isn't necessary. She pressured me and I said no, several times. And then the day came where she let me tell her about my life before interrupting and starting the conversation of removal of services provided. Like I mentioned, that alone wasn't the issue. What WAS the issue was that she had also called my dietician and tried to pressure her into leaving me. To the point of my dietician's discomfort and recognition that abandonment on that level would be detrimental and more harmful that good. (How Diana didn't see that, I don't know.) She gave me an ULTIMATUM of treatment or no therapy. She told me I COULD NOT go to therapy ANYWHERE until I dealt with my eating disorder. (And no, this wasn't just in reference to being cognitively unable to proceed with EMDR.) She wouldn't give me referrals. She made fun of the shirt I was wearing that day that said, "Mental health is health," because I wouldn't go to treatment. I was in utter shock during that last session so I didn't really have responses beyond saying no to treatment and that I understood where she was coming from. But none of those things are okay and I should have said that to her then. I regret that. Fuck that. I deserve therapy. Everyone does. She clearly spooked when eating disorder stuff came up, was not educated on it, and chose to bully and threaten me instead of just saying, "I'm not qualified in this topic and don't feel comfortable proceeding." Period. Period. Period. If you don't fit in her little box of qualifications, stay away. And if you pick up any of her own anxieties, leave. It's not worth wasting your time.

I was only on 200 Lamictal and 50 seroquel before attempting to change to the 21 mg Caplyta suggested by the dr. It was too strong and I should have been started on the 10mg. I stopped it and called the office and asked for the 10mg. I wasn't going to be able to make it to the office for samples so they said they would put it in the mail if they could and would let me know but no one called me to let me know and I don't check the mail regularly and because I wasn't contacted with an update the meds sat in 100 degree weather for a few days. Then I had a waste of an appointment and was told to stay on my regular meds since I'm doing ok on them and I'm like why did we bother doing the other med? could it possibly be for money?
