I was really impressed with the way the church leadership took control of making sure this was a safe and sterile environment for us to worship in. everybody made sure that everyone was wearing a mask everybody was practicing social distancing everybody was just there to bless jesus's name and worship God it was wonderful. I really have to give accolades to the church leadership for keeping this church together during such an unsure time in our life. I never thought I'd have to say this, but please be very cautious about turning to this church for…read moresupport -- especially when you're in a vulnerable place. I reached out hoping to find support, community, and compassion after going through extreme trauma -- trauma that most people know nothing about. I wasn't asking for much. Just kindness. Maybe a prayer. Maybe someone to ask if I was okay. Instead, my pain was used against me. This church shared deeply personal parts of my story with others, talking about me in degrading and humiliating ways. They never once offered to pray for me or check in on me persinally and asking me how I was really doing. Instead, they publicly shamed me and my son, labeling us as "pagans" -- a word they used to judge us, without understanding anything about our hearts or what we had gone through. I was simply trying to be part of a community, get support through prayer completely excluding financial support and rebuild after immense personal trauma. But instead of support, I was met with gossip, judgment, and cruelty. I'm not sharing this to attack anyone's faith. I'm sharing it to say this: not every church is a safe place for the broken. If you're in a vulnerable place, please be careful. Seek out people and spaces that offer real compassion everyone deserve and support that's genuine, respectful, and safe. You are not alone. And your pain is not a reason for shame.

My wife spotted a clothing rack set up next to the coffee shop. They sell a handful of used clothing as well as some shoes. She found a nice pair of pants she wanted and ended up buying them. One thing that threw me off slightly was when we entered the sanctuary, I saw that the stage was in the center of the room. At every seat there is always someone on stage that has their back turned to you, since the seating is set up around the stage. Just something I am not used to. We saw a couple people we knew from town that we said hi to but we weren't greeted by anyone else. I would have liked to meet more people but that's okay.

We came here often for visits and the first time we came to VC Family was in 1997 for our grandson Deacon Kuni and his blessing at the Church. Each time we visited our family we attended church. When we moved here permanently in 2023, VC Family became our church! What a blessing!! We joined our Life Group, headed by Dave & Cheryl Mason who happened to be our Pastor when we lived in Discovery Bay, and became forever friends with the entire group! It was perfect. People are there if you need help but it was easy to navigate getting in, getting coffee and finding a seat. Dress was casual- jeans were just fine. You can engage at your level! I thought worship was good but the audio system didn't seem to be the best. I also liked that after worship they asked everyone in the audience to turn and get to know the person next to us. I have done this in that past at other churches but I liked that they gave us five minutes to get to know each other. The message was good but seemed to be aimed more at newer believers and not as deep of a message as I typically like.
