Unfortunately, they made some changes and consolidated some spaces, etc. One of those changes was severely cutting their hours. I believe they close at 8:00 p.m. throughout the week now, and 2:00 p.m. on the weekends! These hours don't fit most people's lives, especially mine as a night shift nurse. I can handle rearranging some equipment and even closing the kids club, but if I can't get there because they close so doggone early it's not worth me paying for it. By the way, even though they cut out several hours per week of available gym time for clients, they did not cut out any of the very expensive monthly dues for members. This business is owned by ProMedica and if I didn't know any better I would think that they didn't care about encouraging people to live a healthy lifestyle, and that they only cared about money. And then I remembered that I am a ProMedica nurse and that is absolutely, 100%, the case! They made these changes to the hours from a financial standpoint, not thinking about their clientele or giving a crap if anyone actually visits the gym (so long as they pay their monthly dues).

There is still a tremendous selection of equipment, but it is not as extensive as the other store. Almost anybody could get a great workout here. If one equipment manufacturers, say, shoulder press, machine doesn't quite fit your bio mechanics, there are five or six others to choose from! The dumbbells only go up to about 75 pounds, but there are at least four pairs at any given weight. You should never have to wait to get the pair that you need. Why 4 instead of five stars? I will say, that compared to the other store, this one is not as clean or well-maintained. It's not so dirty that it grosses you out, but, it's noticeable. The equipment, albeit fewer choices and fewer free weights, is still very usable. One membership gets you access to both the Northtowne store and the Reynold's Corners store. This, is a damned good deal.

I feel like most of us are excited about joining a health club, and more often than not, we bypass the understanding that all gyms have yearly fees and cancellation fees; this is completely normal. In my opinion, the highlights of this gym include the space and variety of rooms available to ensure a great workout. They offer 2-3 different machines for the upper, mid, and lower body, which is great! For advanced fitness enthusiasts, this means you won't have to wait to complete your workout routine. For beginners, I highly recommend hiring one of their skilled personal trainers to start your fitness journey the right way. Any day is a good day to practice self-care. So far, one of my favorite machines is the standing hamstring curl; this machine is a gem, and I'm super happy they have it. The gym is clean, the bathrooms are neat, the weights are organized, and they offer spray bottles with towels for you to wipe down the machines after every use. I have yet to try the classes and provide feedback, or the smoothie bar, hydro massage, and sauna. Eventually, I will. This health club has a lot to offer for everyone, no matter what fitness level you are at. I'm glad I started going here, and I'm looking forward to making new friends.

Over the last few years this gym was consistently one of the cleanest public places (yes, during COVID), both the common areas and bathrooms with showers. Members are a wide range of folks and most are friendly while mainly focused on their workouts. Very strict rules about filming so it truly is a safe and healthy gym. Always room in their parking lot and convenient location just off of Central and King. The quality of personal training is world class. When you are willing do the work of healthy diet and proper recovery, this is whom can help you get from a local competitor to a world ranked athlete. Only bad part about joining this gym is moving and having to find another.

Planet Fitness sent me an NPS survey asking for honest feedback. I gave them a low score and explained why: it's hard to recommend a fitness club when the staff doesn't reflect the health-oriented mission of the brand. They asked for feedback, and I answered the question. A few days later, I received a phone call from the Sylvania location telling me that my comments were "inappropriate" because Planet Fitness is a "Judgement Free Zone." The irony is hard to miss. The company solicited my opinion, then scolded me for giving it. Meanwhile, the brand itself openly labels certain behaviors as "lunk" behavior--so the judgment evidently only flows one direction. Instead of having a professional conversation about my concerns, they reprimanded me. At that point, I asked them to cancel my membership, which they did immediately and without any real interest in understanding why. If a business isn't prepared to hear honest feedback, it shouldn't ask for it. This experience showed me that the "Judgement Free Zone" motto is applied selectively and inconsistently. Unfortunately, that ended my time as a member.

Maybe they don't care to report why I canceled or maybe its just they don't care. This is ridiculously and but the pay check from their neglecte to hire competent individuals is not my problem. When we got there we checked in, got a cubby to put our things and got in line to receive all the instructions on how to get started. We got sized for the harness (which I will say when it's your first time, it's trial and error for sure) and then we're ready to go. It was a pretty intense workout and man was it fun! The owner requested "secret santa" gifts from members to gift her gym equipment and more. My first visit was a busy holiday class. The employee I encountered on arrival was very rude & abrupt. I later found out this was the owner! I had registered & paid for the class ahead of attending. I was questioned immediately by the owner to "prove it". Though I arrived early as it was my first class I was not allowed to start on-time until I could retrieve the proof of the payment made directly to the gym. The gym owner refused to validate it in their system & instead required me to retrieve my phone to show her the payment made to her directly! Class was absolutely chaotic. I chalked it up to it being a high attendance class that they were not prepared for. I attended another class In Jan. Much to my disappointment it was the same chaotic unorganized & unsafe class. The owner was the instructor, however she was taking her own class & not attending to leading the class. Bizarre & unprofessional. I retrieved a physical gift certificate at the gym for a previous purchase. The balance remaining is $140. The gym owner is now refusing to honor the gift certificate.

Shady billing, predatory cancellation practices. My family did a two month trial membership here…read morelast spring mainly to use the pool. Pool was fine - looks the same as it did in 1984. However, when we chose to end our membership because summer was starting and preferred to use outdoor pools, we were billed an extra month at over $85 all because some fine print in the Terms & Conditions said members need to cancel not just a full two weeks not prior to the end of a month, but two weeks prior the month's end billing date. No pro-ration, no exceptions. No other company does that. We canceled around June 15 and were billed for all of July, despite not using the facility since May. Gigantic rip off! Attempts at mediation were futile. Front desk staff at Wolf Creek were useless and directed us to the main office. Multiple calls and voicemails to the main office's accountant were ignored. Incredibly disasppointing experience from an alleged community steward type organization. Waste of time and money. Never going again, spreading word of their shadiness. Change the garbage policy.
