I have traveled around the country for work and spend extended time in locals across the country…read moreand my first stop is to find a sushi joint to eat copious amounts of sushi, sashimi and hibachi, stop 2 is to find a gym so I can rock the Dad bod, look in the mirror and grunt excessively. (To all the ladies out their, you are welcome) So because of my addictive sushi habitat I have experienced all types of the guys. The Global gyms of the world, that even I felt wholly inadequate to the old school gyms in the back of some guys garage (mullet included free of charge). But the ownership and staff at Fitness Fusion run a top notch outfit, clean, friendly and ALL body types are welcomed in a respectful, encouraging atmosphere. I have been encouraged to try Zumba (nope), Yoga (yep) and the classes were conducted by professionals They even have day care through out the day, I do not have kids if they age, but I used to own a Nanny business and I can always find fault with child care providers in these situations, but I could find none here. Always engaging, kids always laughing.. and camera monitors at all times. You can't go wrong with this little gym.. no matter size, shape or experience I have never felt mor have been to to many gyms to coun

Let me start with all things good. Bold Fitness in Summerville is a convenient location just off…read morethe freeway. It offers group classes for those who need an extra push or just thrive in a group environment. Daycare is also available for those who need it. Bold is typically very clean, with microfiber towels and cleaner provided to their clients. There are showers onsite and saunas in the bathrooms which is a huge benefit to their members. There are plenty of cardio machines, however that can also be placed in the cons section depending on your relationship with cardio. So, you ask, what's the issue? Me. I'm the issue. Full disclosure, I'm a competitive bodybuilder so I take quite a bit of time in the gym, have certain exercises that need to be completed in a certain order, and I just can't quite do that at Bold. The biggest reason is lack of equipment. Listen, there are a lot of members, and that's great, however when you only have one smith machine, one set of 100lb dumbbells, one hip thrust machine...you see where I'm going with this. Also, people do NOT re-rack their weights and it drives me insane! There seems to be no common courtesy or rules when it comes to this issue. Earlier I mentioned their cardio machines - I feel like if they decreased the number of cardio machines they could maybe add another dumbbell rack and free up the current dumbbell rack placement. I come here because it's the closest gym to me, and on upper body days I can get an effective and quick workout when I go in the middle of the day. It's more of a 3.5 star to me, but again, I'm probably the problem.

Could do a little better on maintenance but if you tell them there is an issue they address it right away. Location is great and parking is plentiful.

So they closed for renovations and reopened and that is what I am reviewing. I was going here…read morealmost a year before this, and have a good idea of the changes. Plus, while they were closed for renovations I went to their much bigger Summerville Trolley location. If you're just looking for a regular globo gym, this is 5 stars. New equipment, improved lighting and everything is new. There are no 35lb plates, excluding and he HIIT Zone ones. They are missing the little half seat bench that you they used to have. Also the machines have less weights. If you're looking for a leg extension machine or leg curl machine, these are 200-260lbs. The good ones hit 360lbs. They have varieties of equipment, not everything is just 1 branch. I think it's mostly Matrix with some Nautilus stuff sprinkled in For those who have some specialities when they come to training, I'd say 5 stars for bodybuilders. 4 for power lifters and a generous 4 for CrossFit/hyrox folk. If you were coming to this location you ard forgiven if you don't notice all the changes. All the equipment is slick from the oils that are in new pads and equipment. They got rid of some good equipment like the T Bar Row, and then got smaller machines that allowed for more. The booty and glute room has a nice new belt squat, which shouldn't be over there is it's more quad dominant . Also, hip abductor machine but no adductor machine right next to it? They have some hip thrust equipment, from a belt hip thrust to some hip thrust elite machine with a bar. Their GHD machine is bad. You can't lock your feet/shins you. You can adjust the height, not lock yourself in. Also, they got the machine designed for short people because at maximum extension, it's too short. Now if you wonder why I knocked it down for powerlifters and those who do HIIT training, you'll either understand when you come in or you won't. I'm giving them 5 stars for what they are and what I use them for. I'm a natural bodybuilder who completes, they meet my needs. I don't do classes so can't comment on that.

For what they cost, you'd expect consistency and better management, but that's not the case here. The equipment is fine, but definitely not worth the monthly price -- especially when you can find other gyms in the area that open on time and offer more for less. I wouldn't recommend this gym unless they improve reliability and value.
