I would like to preface this review by saying that this was my very first experience with crossfit…read more I knew very little about crossfit, what it entailed, how much physical and mental determination it would require. I initially chose CFVF because it was convenient to work. The "box" is located inside of the Aspiring Champions complex in KOP. I've been attending CFVF for almost a year now and this has been the best experience of my life. I attend classes 4 days a week and the changes I have experience over the past year have surpassed my expectations. The coaches are ALL amazing! They are friendly and extremely knowledgeable. They exemplify what it means to be leaders. The guys are great and they know there shit! With that said, they maintain a light-hearted, encouraging atmosphere, even when the workouts are kicking my ass! The other patrons of the gym are also very nice and welcoming. There is an amazing sense of comaraderie that you don't find in other fitness facilities. I attend class in the early AM and it is never too crowded. The small class size makes it feel as if you have a personal trainer. If you are considering crossfit and have access to CFVF, I would highly recommend trying them out. Again, I chose this particular gym because it was convenient to work, but I can tell you that if I ever left my job in KOP, I would still attend CFVF, eventhough I live in center city. Yes..I said it. I would still go out of my way to attend CFVF even with the horrendous traffic on 76!

Having been to 6-7 boxes, I've learned that coaches make or break the box. The coaches knew what they were talking about and were able to explain the movement mechanics well. They really focused on form and technique which is extremely important to me. The members of the box were also super friendly. Honestly, the box felt like my home box (Crossfit Central Houston) - that's how comfortable they made me feel. During my 2 weeks at CFVF, I got my first pistol, PR'ed my 5RM OHS, and climbed my first rope. I don't know if it was something in the water over there or what, but it was a solid 2 weeks of firsts. I can't wait to go back to CFVF the next time I'm in the KoP area.

So i decided to join her one day as her plus one. First off, know that you have to drive all the way to the back of the plaza to find it. But there's plenty of parking. The studio is run by two nice trainers: Sally and Jordan. They are very open and all about helping you. They tell you their story and listen to yours. It's all about setting goals and appreciating the little accomplishments. First thing when you walk in is that it's one big room. Not little alcoves here and there. Just a huge mat for you to get sweaty on. I did notice there's not one mirror- which is quite interesting. There is complementary child care and very nice locker rooms. They are like to do one on one meetings to check in with you every other week. Their hours are a bit wonky so check the class schedule each week before coming in. But what I like most about this place is that if you can't do a conventional push up, they find another way to get your body to work the same muscles. My advice? Come try it out!

The coaches are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful! Especially Coach Raymond. The members are kind and welcoming. I recently dropped in, and with covid, they are doing a great job keeping things distanced, sanitary, and enforcing mask use (including during the workouts). But it was the easy part: I showed up, got pushed through a great work out, and connected with peers and neighbors who had the same goals. The hard part, changing my lifestyle so I could actually achieve those goals, didn't start until the 21 Day Reset Challenge. Our household has two full time workers and two young children and our diet for years has been 75% convenience so imagine a lot of take out, pizza night, cheese steaks. The 21 Day Reset Challenge forced us to stop and look at what we were doing to ourselves and our goals by abusing our bodies with an unhealthy diet. For each step forward my wife and I made in the workouts, we were probably taking two steps backwards with our diet. The Challenge provided not only the information we needed in recipes, ideas, and the impact of what you eat, but a format that was engaging and a support group from other athletes to the coaches who were also completing the challenge. This was a major lifestyle change for me and I wouldn't have done it without this challenge. It forced me to rethink everything I put into my body and think of it not just as food satisfying a craving but fuel to a machine. If I wanted a clunky, rundown machine, I could keep skipping meals and snacking on sugar and empty carbs, and gorging on fatty meals without concern for portions. If I wanted to reach my goals and turn my body into an efficient and fit machine, I had to have a plan, stick to it, find supporting partners, and educate myself on when and what type of fuel to consume. The Challenge provided all of that and the changes my family has made since then have stuck and changed not just our daily diet but our approach to our family's fitness and well being. So glad to be a member of this community and all it brings, from classes to clinics and fitness to friendships. *JAZZ HANDS!*

this is for those considering f45:…read more so ive never done any fitness class of any kind before. i was strictly a runner and joined a gym many years ago. i saw this location and knew the brand was growing in the us. i bit the bullet and joined.... my initial worry was waking up at 5 but that has been MUCH easier than i thought because i LOVE everything about F45. also what i really appreciate, and hope HQ keeps pushing, is that it is for everyone. my class is very diverse in age/skill. everything station can be modified and everyone works at their own pace pushing themselves as they can ive been doing it for 2-3 weeks now. what i realized im really paying for is the variety, the workouts that are planned (and the same across the globe), and the discipline. prepaying for something is a brilliant motivator for me. i love that every single day is different and 95% of the time the stations are different. you will work out muscles that you may unintentionally ignore. you will sweat every. single. time. i love that they mix up days by cardio and resistance. i've ONLY heard that orange theory can get boring/repetitive but i have no clue. crossfit seems a bit aggressive but again zero experience. the coaches are AMAZING AMAZING. they not only positively encourage but also check form. its not like the military where they yell at you till you puke.... also the space is bigger than most f45 places ive seen online. AND THEY CLEAN IT. ive seen it repeatedly i tell people it reminds me of PE class in grade school because i always looked forward to that time and it was always a surprise what we were going to do. end of the day, like most things in life you only get out what you put in. on top of it, you're going to pay for this so you might as well get your money's worth.

They welcomed the effort but didn't push too hard for exercising. There weren't any obstacle course elements in the class. We were allowed to stay after and ask some ninja warrior potential experts on a few techniques of the obstacles. It was nice to celebrate little victories- kind of like the non-single Matt Nathanson song of the same phrase . This place has obstacle course equipment with more of an adult look but kids are also welcome and encouraged as they probably bring most of the funding to the gym too. Outside had some equipment as well as part of the 30 min circuit training. Some people might not like the younger kids or the dogs that were around. The kids around were in line and well behaved and one of the dogs seemed jealous of not enough attention and started to get in my way of my running path. It was a bit comical for me. Oh a temporary break lol. Some of the staff keep the place well cleaned and maintained. This was probably a 4 star experience for me but the community element here helps me bump it to a 5
