He is incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and knows exactly how to push me without overdoing it. Every workout challenges me, but I always feel supported and confident in what I'm capable of. Since I started training with Chris, I've consistently gotten stronger and have been able to increase the weight I'm lifting without ever feeling like it's too much. He has a great ability to challenge me while making sure my form is correct and that I feel safe and confident throughout every workout. You can tell that Chris genuinely cares about his clients and their progress. No pool, but there are so many fantastic amenities and new equipment available, you won't mind. You'll get a warmup in trekking those 3 levels via stairs, but an elevator is readily available for accommodating all accessibility levels. Also, being located in the convenient area of Pike & Rose, there are plenty options to run errands, or grab food. I Highly recommend!

I was a member of Onelife for about a year while I lived locally. Tyler, the general manager at…read morethis location, is very helpful - I explained that I wouldn't be looking for a membership long-term, and that I would need to cancel at some point when I moved. He explained the membership process very clearly and how I could easily cancel when the time came (this is VERY important for a gym if you've ever read any of the horror stories of Planet Fitness cancellations). The gym itself is HUGE - it has a three lap lane indoor pool, lots of classrooms, a basketball court, and a day care. HOWEVER - if you come any time between peak hours, usually about 4-7 pm, be prepared to wait for machines! As other people mention here, it gets way too busy and I sometimes wonder if they should be at capacity with the number of folks in there. The parking lot also gets completely full if you're not in a spot by about 5:30 pm. I usually ended up adjusting my routine to whatever machines were open that day. You get what you pay for - this membership is very reasonable and for that it's quite busy. They do move stuff around occasionally to account for foot traffic and use of machines, which is good but can be confusing if the machine you've been using for weeks is all of a sudden somewhere else! My biggest complaint is with the locker room - locks are required, yet I always open at least 5-10 "open" (read: no lock) lockers that are actually filled with stuff! This frustrates me to no end - bring a lock, or don't use the lockers! Sometimes machines/water fountains have been broken but they are very prompt to get them fixed again, and I think that's reasonable considering the daily wear and tear they're getting. My only other complaint is gym etiquette here: re-rack your weights (especially on the squat racks), and wipe your machines after yourself!

This review is coming from a morning person. Haha. This is a very nice gym. I got a red carpet tour…read morefrom John Kras and he showed me all that this place had to offer. This gym is so huge! It was clean and had all the machines you could think of. The membership price is reasonable but the gym can be packed due to the location and the size. The gym lockers has a no photo policy on all the mirrors so all the progress pic girlies be mindful. Other than that, I wish this location worked out for me but unfortunately it's far from where I live. But if you are thinking to join? It's a no brainer.

So this was my home gym for about 6 months. Unfortunately I didn't discover it any earlier when…read moreliving in the DMV or I would have been there A LOT longer and A LOT sooner. Love the gym and equipment - this gym (Rockville location) has everything you need to include several pieces of cardio equipment (but not too many because it's definitely a strength gym). The vibes are pretty good - I like the lighting, the posing room, the music, the chill staff, and that it's well maintained. My ONLY complaint about this gym is that on MANY occasions, they would just remove/change/move/add equipment with no warning. So for example, they had a nice, standard MTS row machine (plate loaded), and it was great. One day, I walked into the gym to do a pull day and it was GONE. Some other very clunky, very awkward machine in its place. Same with the plate loaded low row machine they had - loved it, walked in one day and GONE. Replaced with another back machine that was not even close to the same. I don't know, I just found this incredibly irritating! Anyway, the locker/restrooms are well maintained, there are saunas in each one, and plenty of lockers (although that was a new upgrade earlier this year, and none of the lockers have handles, so it's awkward), but whatever. The time of day I work out is awesome (around 2 am) because the gym is virtually empty, but I know during some other times of the day (bro hours, if you will), the crowd gets kind of douchey lol. Either way, I enjoyed this gym and would go back in a heartbeat. They also had a very easy cancellation system and I had no issues cancelling my membership (in advance) before I moved out of the area. *Lastly, they also offer several different plans, so make sure you find the one that meets your requirements.

I loved the workout sessions! If you're new to the gym, I recommend this gym as a great starting…read morepoint. The personal trainers tell you what you need to do, the machine is always available when you need it because they plan ahead, and they help you with your form. That said, I wasn't thrilled with the 6 week program at the Rockville location. Usually, 6 week programs help you lose 20 lbs (or a percentage of body fat if you're under 200 lbs) in that timeframe. It was a few hundred more then the cost of just sessions, but I saw results pictures from other people and I was promised nutrition sessions, so I thought it would be worth it. At the beginning of my program, I didn't get any before pictures or starting weight check at the gym. All that I had to do on my own. The nutrition session wasn't super helpful. I already watch a lot of videos on the topic and I aim for 100g of protein a day, so when I said what I was currently doing, they said to just keep it up and we never talked more about it. My other complaint is that not all the trainers use the app correctly. I came to the gym at a few different times depending on my schedule that week. The morning trainers never entered the weights I was lifting into the app log, so when I went to the afternoon trainer he wouldn't know if I progressed at all since I last saw him. That was kinda annoying because I'm paying over $1000 for a trainer and they don't keep track of my weights for me, I had to track that myself. The afternoon guy was good at using the app though. Hopefully they fix that. Overall, love the workouts, form critique, and direction in the gym. Accountability was good too since you scheduled sessions in advance. I wouldn't recommend the 6 week program. I started at 176.8 lbs and ended the program at 176.7 lbs, but I can see a little more muscle definition on my arms and I started thinking 30 lb weights were so heavy and only good for farmers walks, but now I use them in dumbbell overhead presses. I just feel like I didn't get anything extra out of it. Gym was worth it but 6 week program was not.

This photo shows my mom and my son playing the piano together…read more I moved this Piano 24 hours ago with my neighbor. We moved it out of my house, across and down the street, and into his house, up and down a few steps. I am 37 years old and I could not have even lifted one end of a piano off the ground when I was 35, 30, 25, or 20. I had also not exercised much during the primary COVID-19 lockdown from April-June. I spent a lot of time in the last 2 years prior to COVID-19 at 202Strong on Nebel Street. While there I did lose some weight, increased my numbers on the big 3 lifts, and made a lot of friends. While those things are great, and worthy goals, they did not help me as I sized up the piano yesterday morning. Instead, I thought about how I would safely lift and move the piano, lifting with my legs, stabilizing my core, and so on. I learned and practiced those things at 202Strong. I was not sure I could safely move a Piano after 3 months of COVID-19 gym lockdown, but apparently I retained enough strength and knowledge to do so. That is the real value of 202Strong. Not bulging muscles (though you'll get those), not weight loss (though you'll accomplish that if you work as hard in the kitchen as you do in the gym) and definitely not numbers on the bar. At 202Strong I earned the ability and confidence to safely move heavy things around in my life as necessary. That survived 3 months outside the gym. I waited 24 hours to write this to see how I felt a day later. I feel... fine, a bit like I did a 202Strong workout yesterday. :) Thanks Maddie.

I was insecure at the gym, had a hard time committing to a clean diet and was clinically overweight. I wanted to be fitter and physically stronger, but the road getting there was overwhelming and intimidating. I remember when I first called Cher for a consult, I was relieved to get to voice-mail, secretly hoping that maybe she would be too busy and I would be lost on the wayside. She called me back within the day!! And every day I'm grateful for that! Cher is an amazing personal trainer that constantly pushes me to be my best and work my hardest without ever making me feel discouraged. Having her there to keep me accountable made adjusting my diet to exclude my unhealthy comfort foods, something that was very hard for me previously, into something fulfilling and natural! With Cher, I lost 11 inches around my waistline and went from being classified as overweight/high risk to athletic! And not only that, I gained so much confidence and energy, at the gym and in general. When I'm out with my friends, I'm running around like a kid again, and even picked up hobbies I'd never thought I could handle, like longboarding and hiking. I even changed up my entire wardrobe and dyed my hair! Cher really opened all kinds of new doors for me!! Additionally, I've worked with Cher through the transition to digital sessions and the quality does not dip! She'll get you sweating, whether at the gym or in the basement of your own house! I highly recommend Cher!!
