From free weights and kettle bells to Woodway curve trainers and suspension trainers, the gym houses brand new, state of the art equipment. UF offers high intensity workouts and strength training in a group setting. Classes are extremely fast paced but modified for all levels. The gym is relatively small, but there is no lack of space when you're working out. The group fitness classes are perfectly structured so that you're a bit constantly bumping into everyone. Stephanie, the main instructor, is fantastic. She pushes you to work hard and makes sure you have good form to prevent injury. They also donate money to a local nonprofit... how's cool is that??? All I can say is that it's about time Asheville got a community-oriented gym like this. After doing my first two classes free (which they offer to everyone if I'm not mistaken) I've already purchased an unlimited month membership. I can't recommend this place enough.... Dont hesitate to give it a try. Whether you're in shape or haven't worked out in years, UF will give you an EXCELLENT workout.

There is 1 changing room and I think 3 shower/bathrooms. The bathrooms are so CLEAN! Never did I get the "gym shower" idea but I am so impressed on how clean the bathroom and showers are! This gym offers a Keurig to use for free with complementary K-cups, Tues/Thurs free protein bars, complementary towels, and other goodies for sale. They just replaced the belts on their treadmills and they got some new cardio machines!! My only complaint about the cardio machines is the TVs don't really show many channels? I can maybe get one channel? I'm not too sure, I'm still trying to find more channels... don't really know if I can plug in ear phones into the cardioTV but it has a remote for each machine. I still love it though. CYCLING/SPIN CLASS: Corinne is amazing. She is downright fantastic. Her students, her class, and her are the reason why I went from free trial to a paid membership. When you join, EVERYONE welcomes you. Everyone. Eddie will help you adjust your bike and make sure you're good to go. Corinne will make sure your form is good on the bike. Everyone helps each other out. I'm new to Asheville so finding this little circle of friends is special to me. She also teaches HIIT class which I haven't worked my way up to YET, but her Tues/Thur cycling/spin class is enough to kick my derrière. OH YEA, never did I ever feel pressured to join the membership. The management staff are super sweet and not pushy. They're there for you if you need anything at all.

The trainers are hilarious (super knowledgeable), the people you work out with a generally smart/crazy (and I loved every bit of it), and your burn your calories in this big open space that is perfect for the music they play. The facility equipment is top-notch. What I absolutely hated was that you could not use the space unless there was a CrossFit class that occurred. I was a kid in the candy shop since there's a window. You wonder why you're not in there and its because of corporate policy. They should have resolved it by having many more CrossFit classes in the space (but they choose not to pursue that recommendation). The other part that I hated was the men's bathroom often smelled either musty or chemically. They could never figure out the right balance so I just got in and out to head home and washed up. I moved to Arden but I would have kept the membership if I stayed closer to Asheville. CrossFit at this location was the reason to join.
